Sanchez beat other greats such as Wilfredo Gomez and Azumah Nelson, and had 11 title defences all before the age of 23 when he unfortunately died.
He also beat other good fighters in Danny Lopez, Ruben Castillo, and Juan La Porte.

Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
For example i think Micheal Spinks beats RJJ and ice will disagree with me all day and night. Then i think Hagler can beat Rjj and we will disagree all night look at the predictions we still do not see eye to eye. Come to think about we pretty much do not see the same on RJJ and Duran vs PBF.
Have any fights that i should see of his eagle just to ask?
Also how did we die i always here he died but what caused his death just to ask.
And do you think he could beat Pep and Saddler i mean they were great fighters.

Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
toss up between pep and sanchez for me
-
Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
I've come to my senses that in order for me to rate Pep & Saddler I need to have seen more then just 4 fights. At that I've only see 1 complete fight as the rest we're Highlights. With that being said here goes:
1. Sanchez
2. Nelson
3. Saldivar
4. Ramos
5. Alexis
6. Moore
7. Pedroza
8. JMM
9. Pacquiao
10. Hamed
I'd also like to point out that Pedroza is ALWAYS overlooked. :(

Re: top 10 featherweights of all time

Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
I bought some of them and got some fights off espn classics i look but right now i am at school.

Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
The thing about Saddler that people do not realize is that he had only less then 20 Amature fights and most of his 16 loses were at the beginng of his career. He was jsut coming into prime when he fought Pep and he could of had a even better record if not for the car accident that cause eye damage he probly could of beat Pep win record. 144 wins and he still had a lot more good fights not mention that he was never stopped in 162 fights and 103 kos ain't to bad either i love Saddler was a true warrior and think people tend to over look him maybe just me.

More then anything as I've said before is the lack of footage on him.
I read your other reply and I'm curious also if the fights you've seen are complete? I say this because I've talked to a handful of people and for the most part they all say it's really difficult to get a hold of full complete fights of Pep, Saddler and many other fighters who are considered great.

No worries I wasn't looking to get his stuff to be honest.
I was more curious then anything since I had been told that it was really hard to get a hold of his fights.

Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
Look around enough you find stuff reading is not bad either not the same but good way to fill in blanks.

I know trust me I do a lot of reading.
I have so many damn boxing books and magazines pretty soon I'm gonna need a extra room in my house to store them. :)
With reading like anything else you gotta look at the source and also where they got their info. from.
Like when I was at the WBHoF and I met Allen Rosenfeld who lived with Charley Burley and I had a chance to go thru the book he wrote on Burley. I mean he said a lot of things you hear about Burley are true but also a lot of things that are said a re stretched out at times.
So like they say you gotta take everything with a little pinch of salt.
I mean just look at Marciano and that whole ordeal about him loosing a fight when he fought under another name.
No matter how much you read now you'll never know the truth.
To me the farthest back I go is 50's after that it get's even more shady and more unclear of what really went on. In the end I guess it's all about how you view it and if you want to believe what you read or not.

Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
Yea you got a good point seeing it is more helpful but some times you got to listen to the people that were there and what the wrote down.
-
Re: top 10 featherweights of all time
I am no boxing historian... seems to me James Leija deserves a mention. The lad pissed fire at featherweight
-
Re: top 10 featherweights of all time

Short but sweet stay at Featherweight. The Dorsey fight is one of the most gruesome things I've seen in boxing. :-\
IMO he falls short of top 10 all time but def. deserves a mention.
