I wasnt to impressed with Tito at 160, Now I think he is taking on more than he can handle with Roy Jones(even a past it version) I dont think his power or even his chin will follow him that far.

Did you see what Tito did to William Joppy at 160? That Joppy was a very good fighter. Trinidad destroyed him. In impressive fashion. I think Trinidad it will carry power at 170. He carried it to 160. His losses there were due to him being out-boxed and out-smarted. Not cuz of lack of power. Trinidad is like Thomas Hearns. His power will follow him where ever he goes.
I agree with u there VD. Tito has a lot of other things he has to worry about before lack of power.Quote:

I just am a little skeptical of a fighter that jumps 10lbs and fights an established advesary of that weight. I know Roy got spooked by Tarver but I think he will be the much bigger man and will take Titos punches well, if he cant Ko Roy he sure as hell aint gonna outbox himQuote:

I got to say I'm a bit worry about Tito
It is a historic fight in the sense that it is two great fighters but Tito is way out of his depth. Whilst Roy is more fragile he is more active and will beat Tito. Cannot see it any other way. Why hasn't Tito taken at least some warm up fights?
I've said it many times and I'll say it agian. It won't be the weight that will bother Tito, it will be the layoff. He will have power, don't worry about that. His chin is underrated because of all his knockdowns and I don't think it will be a factor on this fight.
He will most likely be slow, tentative, and his legs probably won't respond like they use to.
FYI, Tito's three wins at 160 were by KO. Two of which were against men who had never been down before, much less KOed, and the third was against Chariffi, limited as he was, he had already fought at 168, briefly held a 160lb title and was pretty tough, and Tito destroyed him effortlessly in 4 rounds.
I'm with JT. In addition before he jumped those 10 lbs he had a shut out loss to Winky, lookeed dull, slow, unadaptable and poor in all aspects. Add a layoff and a large size differential and i think Tito is in trouble..
However opne thing i will be watching this fight for:
Roy with 51 wins has 34 ko's
Yet after his last fight he said he didn't like to KO guys ::**
I'll bet he proves himself a hypocrite and goes for the KO.
Both boxers are at least five years past there best. I think tito can do it as he's faster than jones and jones has lost his power and movement.Quote:

I've been getting a feeling Tito might pull it off. I think he wants it more. I think his ego of wanting to be forever bigger than Cotto has brought him back. My money is still with Roy, but I'm intrigued to see the fight. Same as I am with Mayorga-Vargas.Quote:

Tito was never faster than Roy and never will be... Jones still has plenty of mustard on his punches, power is the last thing to goQuote:

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tito win. The fighters who have troubled Tito have done it because they've been better technical boxers. Young Oscar, Winky, and B-Hop are hard fighters to hit, some of the best technical boxers of our generation. They were able to use Tito's pressure against him, counter him, and make him look bad. I'm no Tito expert, but I've probably seen 10 of his fights, including his losses and the Oscar fight. In the loses, he couldn't come up with a Plan B. He got outmanuvered.
Roy Jones is not a great technical boxer...never has been. He's made a career based on a unique style and god-like physical gifts. The gifts, particularly the speed and reflexes that used to keep him from getting hit, are diminished.
Roy is going to land counters on Tito. That much I know. The question is if Tito can hit Jones, and I think Tito is going to be able to hit Jones. Then it becomes a matter of heart, chin, and power. It might also both Roy to come all the way down to 170.
I've come around on my views on Tito as MW. He was better and had more power at that weight than I gave him credit for...just because he couldn't get to Hopkins or Wright doesn't been that he didn't carry his power to 160. Nobody gets to Hopkins or Wright with power. I'm pretty sure Tito will have the power to KO Jones, if he can hit Jones...if he can hit Roy, he's going to win, but I'm still not sure if he's going to be able to hit him. Jones has gotten hittable, but Tito will be rusty and he might not have the timing to make Roy pay for his mistakes.
I think it will depend on whether Tito Sr. can wrap his hands the way he's always done it or not. :D
Hahaha!!! Who was the one that made a big adu about Tito's handwraps??? I remember one person made a controversial thread about. Who was it again Mick?Quote:

I see Trinidad knocking Jones out around the 6th round.
