I think Hatton knows and is very appreciative of Floyd giving him this oppurtunity; to both fight the best and make a damn nice paycheck doing it; Hatton has already expressed gratitude for it. Funny though how more people in the arena that night will probably be cheering for Hatton than Floyd, and it's not even Ricky's country. Sounds more like people want to hate on Hatton than defend Floyd's reputation ::**

Anyone that doesn't know who Hatton is isn't a boxing fan. So it doesn't really matter.

Its not the point of who is cheering for who its like a perfect storm it takes the right combo of high pressure low pressure temperature etc. Floyd has given his part to create this perfect storm. Floyd didnt need Ricky Hatton needed Floyd to make this happen. FACT!!!! You can all read into the Oscar at Wembley BS but Hatton wouldnt even attempt 154 and would get busted up bad and DLH wouldnt get down to 147 again unless he gos on the cocaine diet. So there was no other fight Ricky would get that would have this magnitude on a worlwide stage.

Floyd couldn't get 10,000 fans to see him fight in Grand Rapids, let alone come halfway across the world to watch him fight. Why do you think Oscar wants to fight him? Well i just watched the 24/7 build up on SKY , and i have to say for all his boxing talent , Mayweather (if that is his true persona) is a total and utter a.s.s.h.o.le WITH zero CLASS out side the ring and i hope if not by Hatton but someone, he gets his face punched in. he is a total disgrace to the memory of fighters such as SRR ETC.

Mayweather could have had his pick of the fighters at WW or LM. After any big fight in the lower weight classes Floyd is the first name on their lips. He was coming off a De La Hoya victory and everyone wants to get some of the cash that he brings to the table. From 140-154 Floyd is the biggest name out there period. I will agree Gatti brought Floyd the exposure but to a certain extent the way Floyd completely owned his a** put him where he is today. I dont understand why people diss Floyd for the way he is outside the ring, Mike Tyson raped women and got in street brawls but he was loved more for it. In the ring Floyd is a amazing judge him purely on that. He's been in one bad fight against Baldomir the rest have been either exciting middle of the ring battles or high quality technical masterclasses if you cant appreciate that you shouldnt be a boxing fan.

Hatton has become a superstar in the UK by being himself and not being an arrogant prick.
Floyd has become a superstar because of the ODLH fight and they 24/7 and hype surrounding the fight. Basically he smack talked his way to superstardom before participating in a glorified sparring session with a cross dresser who had only legitimately won 1 fight since 2003.
The main reason Floyd is becoming a big draw is basically the same reason Naseem did over here:- punters want to see him get KO'd
Hatton is getting a decent wedge for this fight and he is getting the oppurtunity to fight the number 1 p4p fighter in the world but tbh he deserves the chance and that has fuck all to do with Floyd.

The main reason Floyd is becoming a big draw is basically the same reason Naseem did over here:- punters want to see him get KO'd
Hatton is getting a decent wedge for this fight and he is getting the oppurtunity to fight the number 1 p4p fighter in the world but tbh he deserves the chance and that has fuck all to do with Floyd.

Mayweather's not stupid - he's not fighting Ricky Hatton for nothing. As a businessman, he knows very well what Hatton brings to his pockets...er, the table. I'm sure PBF was watching the Castillo fight, checking out how many people made the trip to support their fighter, and weighing pros and cons against fighting Hatton. Sure, plenty of people are going to buy the PPV in hopes that PBF gets beat, but truth is, a lot of Hatton fans are going to buy tickets, PPV, etc. - generating a lot of cash for PBF.
It's not some gift that Floyd's giving Ricky to fight him. He's making more money out of this than probably any other fight than a ODLH rematch. I'm not even sure a Cotto or Mosley fight would draw as well.

Floyd is giving Hatton the chance to stake a claim at P4P #1, that is an opportunity for any fighter regardless of how much money he could make fighting a bum instead or how many seats he sells at Wembley.
