This is'nt a poll for best of all time just present

Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
At this point...it's Calzaghe. I love Hatton, and before Kessler, it was Ricky. That Kessler result moves Joe back above though. If Hatton wins in December, my vote will change.

Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Joe calzaghe at the moment
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Calzaghe no doubt but if Hatton beats Mayweather then Hatton is.
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
In terms of boxing skill Calzaghe will always be well above hatton... in terms of achievement Hatton has been switching weights mixing it up in America really getting his name out there. at the moment with the Kessler win under his belt Joe rules...If hatton beats Mayweather though...It'll will be like randy Turpin beating sugar ray robinson all over again....

Hatton easily for me.

Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Easily Joe Calzaghe based on accomplishments alone.
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Calzaghe at the moment but if Hatton gets the W over Floyd then there would be no question
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
in that case, it's hatton then.

Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Joe Calzaghe. But if Hatton does the impossible & defeats Floyd he takes over!
Question: Who's the future among some of Britains young prospects!

Saying Clazaghe has more boxing skill than Hatton is like saying Hatton has way better work rate and come forward style !!!!!
Wot im saying is they fight totally differently so yes Calzaghe is more boxer - Hatton is more aggrasive thats kinda ovious to everyone mate.
If Hatton keeps winning big fights he will be regarded as the best , but at the moment i say Calzaghe , but only just . Hell no i got em tided because Hatton has fought more top fighters than Calzaghe :)

I'll repeat what Daxx had said: If Hatton beats Mayweather then he's the best British fighter for me. What's wrong with that ICB?

Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Hatton for me not only has to beat Mayweather but continue to be a dominant champion (at 140). Im talking a few more fights.

Maybe, or possibly a Harrison - Audley or Scott - they're on a par right now.

Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Even if Hatton beat PBf i think if you look at the overall career of both Calzaghe has beaten the better guys over all.
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Yes, well Audley told me he was the best...
In fact he said he was thee greatest boxer of all time, at any weight,
I'm inclined to believe him.

I don't agree with that at all.
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Ok name all the people Hatton has beat and how long he has been the champion.
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
I am still waiting for you to tell me why he would be even with just one fight i like to hear why you disagree so i can see your point of view.

I see what you mean but Calzaghe can fight in a manner of different styles and adjust...Hatton does just that come forward aggressive style...which obviously works well for him...But ultimately could prove to be his downfall.
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
It all depends on his next fight and what comes after that to see if it will really destroy him or not wait and see.

Totally agree cc.
Depends how you define skill. Personally I think you can't seperate them, generally both haven't looked like being beaten, the question of who is the best will be answered if and when one of them loses that 0. It's impossible to know just how good (or bad) a fighter is until they've been beaten.

Have to disagree Calzaghe is certainly better skilled fighter he uses angles, combinations ect. Hatton is good at what he does no question but P4P Calzaghe is better skill wise.
-
Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
I agree with Ice .
P4P if Calzaghe and Hatton fought i would put my house on Calzaghe...as far as resumes go Ricky has beaten "great" fighters Calzaghe hasn't, he's been a dominant "great" champion.
BUT If Ricky beats Floyd, Calzaghe will be worthy to support him as chief undercard fight.

Can't argue with that, if it were ams or a compubox competition then yes i'd say Calzaghe was more skilled. If you were talking about getting inside on a guy and landing devastating body shots (an art form in itself) then you could say Hatton was more skilled in that department. Generally people wouldn't define that in the same category as just "Skill", I would.

Well i will agree on that Hatton does use good angles on the inside and where ever he plants his feet he can hit you at any angle he also uses good technique when he lands body shots because he gets his whole bodyweight behind it i would still say Calzaghe is more skilled but like i said Hatton is also a master at what he does.

Re: AT THIS POINT WHO IS THE BEST BRITISH FIGHTER???
Well Calzaghe names are about the same but if Hatton wins over PBf he will have a better resume by a guy. All what you consider the best Hatton has not unified or beat the best over the years till recently Calzaghe has unified and beat every top opponent in the last 10 years with 22 defences is not to bad.
