Good read; can't wait for this one. Looking forward to the next HBO countdown show for these 2 guys. If JT wins do you think they'll rematch again at 160 so JT can try for his belt again, or do you see JT moving on up to 168?

I think if Taylor won, the rubbermatch would take place at 168.

So essentially what you're saying is that Taylor won't be striving to reclaim his belt at 160?

I think Pavlik should knocked Taylor out a few rounds earlier, But Pavlik can't be doing that dumshat

Re: Pavlik-Taylor 2 Tickets Go On Sale This Saturday Pretty Good Read Aswell.
Taylor is damaged goods. He was already showing signs of deterioration a few fights before the Pavlik fight and will get stopped again.

I thought Taylor looked just about at his best in his last fight, even considering it ended in a loss. He looked really sharp and had bad intentions, but he just got tired.

I'm gonna shock the shit outta ya both.
I've gotta agree with bruce.
I think that the fight will go the stretch. I think that it'll be a tuffer match...& I think that if it does go the stretch...we might have a dubious decision to contend with in order to make it a three-see.
Course...that's just me talkin outta the ole' poop chute...but I think that when it goes to the cards with Taylor...shit always get's as goofy as a special ed kid with a bag fulla eternal gobstoppers.

I don't see it Wacko even if Taylor wants to fight cautious fight Pavlik will force him out of his shell with his ram rod jab and aggressive style i see this being another barn burner with Pavlik winning by TKO in 9.

Rewatch the last fight.
Look...I love Pavlik...but Kelly's not the smartest fighter in the sea.
He goes for the kill pretty my 90% of the time because that's where it's at for him. Yes he has a great jab. Yes he pulled some pretty sweet combo's outta his ass the last go 'round. Yes he was gotdammed effective. The thing is though...I really believe that Taylor & team underestimated him.
No dis to Pavlik.
I want him to win...but it all goes back to Pavlik's fight game.
I realize that no one needs a detailed roster check here...but Taylor has been in with Hopkins twice, Spinks, Wright, & Joppy...who shouldn't be mentioned...but there ya go. The one opponent is enough to equal & cancel out Pavlik's skill level. While Taylor wasn't a shoe in for the winner against Hopkins bout 1 or the Wright fight...he did go toe to toe for the duration.
The equalizer & table turner is ofcourse the power of Pavlik...but a gameplan could negate that.
While I do feel that Taylor is flawed mentally of late...I do think that he's got plenty of skills if he can keep his head on straight...which will be an issue if Pavlik tees off on it the way he did last time out.
Like I was saying...watch the last fight. Taylor had Pavlik on the outs. He overshot his wad & there's a distinct possibility that he could have kept Pavlik at the end of his jab & won the fight...ofcourse there's a possibility that if you shoved enough monkey's up your ass...one could fly out...if properly projected & pressured enough. ;D

Wacko no offence but i have probably watched it about 20 times ;)

By the way Taylor performed it certainly didn't look like he underestimated Pavlik that was the best Taylor i had seen in ages.

Those fighters are better skilled fighters no doubt but it doesn't mean anything, style wise Pavlik has a more effective to trouble Taylor than those fighters you mentioned now that may sound absurd but its just bad style match up for Taylor, Pavlik has very aggressive style along with a good jab plus he has a longer reach in the jab so he can catch Taylor on the counter with the jab it will always bother Taylor the jab was the key in the first fight it set up Pavlik's straight right hand i just don't see how Taylor can stop Pavlik's jab.
The equalizer & table turner is ofcourse the power of Pavlik...but a gameplan could negate that.
Its not just his power its Pavlik's jab that gave him more trouble.
Like I was saying...watch the last fight. Taylor had Pavlik on the outs. I have watched it plenty of times Pavlik got stupid and stuck his chin out and let Taylor hit him but Pavlik held on well and survived difference is Pavlik only needed 1 chance and he finished Taylor that will be in the back of Taylor's mind plus i think Taylor burns way too much nervous energy thats why he faded late in 1st Hopkins fight.

Re: Pavlik-Taylor 2 Tickets Go On Sale This Saturday Pretty Good Read Aswell.
My Prediction: Taylor is flat footed and so is Pavlik. We know both hit hard enough to hurt each other. The fight will start slower, but both of them will start timing bigger punches on each other and they will start gunning for it. It will turn into a slugfest as both will be able to land easily. It will be one big irresistible juicy candy for both of them and they will go at it! If it turns into one early enough, Taylor will have the advantage as his speed will let his power land more often. If it is later, Pavlik will have the advantage as Taylor will be gassed.
I really cannot see them two going any other way. They will fight it out, just like the first time, but both will start out more cautiously.

Taylor looked awful against Spinks & Ouma, and he only looked good for the 1st 4 or 5rds in the PAvlik fight , then faded . I remember when he could fight 12rds and looked strong doing it.

If you'll look back...he was fighting blown up welters & light middles then too that were nowhere near the skill level of the last 5 or 6 men that he would face.
It makes all the difference in the world.

Re: Pavlik-Taylor 2 Tickets Go On Sale This Saturday Pretty Good Read Aswell.
Pavlik will stop JT again and I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen in the same or maybe earlier round than the 1st time around. Though Pavlik was losing{somehow} on all the scorecards the 1st fight up until the k.o., I think after the second round it was all over for JT. One of those intangibles that come into play; Pavlik getting up from the knckdown and not running away trying to survive, but going straight back into Taylor and basically giving him the chance to finish him. JT had 2+ minutes to do it and couldn't manage to do the job, and Pavlik coming back in the 3rd and on making Jermaine fight, sticking to his gameplan. Taylor is emotionally shaky, and that 2nd round chance he failed to capitalize on had to have some effect. That was the moment JT realized him and Steward spent too much time underestimating Pavlik. Actually, that thought might have occured while JT was sinking to the canvas. And Pavlik won't give any freebies to Taylor this time.

I was impressed with Taylor in the first few rounds and it wasnt untill he kept backing into the corner that I thought he was in any kind of trouble against Pavlik. I dont think it will go 12 rounds but I think it will go longer than the first fight.

Yo Ice...maybe I di-int! ;D
Okay...as you should know by the annoying amount of rehash threads of the Pavlik Taylor fight that I kept drumming up...I've probably watched that fight 21 times...so...
NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH! :P
Seriously...though...things aren't always cut & dry with Taylor...& he did better against Hopkins in the remach...I'd tend to believe he'll do better against Pavlik in their rematch.
Granted...that could mean that he lasts more than 7.
The thing is...Pavlik's got the equalizer in both hands...& that makes a huge difference against any man. The thing is...Taylor's proven to date to have a fairly sturdy chin...I honestly want to see a more competitive fight than the last one...& it was competitive as all get out...I'd just love to see it go the stretch but have a repeat of the last fight around the 12th round...both men down & out in a pier six brawl.
Normally I don't dig on that shit...but Pavlik's a hell of a fighter...bar none.

I didn't really feel Taylor done that much better in rematch he actually done better in the first fight because he was way ahead on points but he lost last 4 rounds because of Stamina i felt the 2nd fight was just as close as there first meeting.

I just think Pavlik has Taylor's number style wise because he has a longer reach and he can catch Taylor with the jab all the time plus Pavlik is the stronger man = another loss for Taylor imo.
I would love the fight to go the distance and be like Gatti vs Ward or ect but i doubt it will imo.

Really?
Totally TOTALLY disagree here. Hopkins did less in the rematch & Taylor did more...I will go to me grave feeling that Hopkins won the first fight. He landed more & he was the more effective & he punished Taylor down the stretch.
None of that happened in the second fight & Taylor seemed more focused down the stretch.

Pavlik's got the advantage because he's a pusher with power & he's got the moxy to wear Taylor's ass down. Taylor just doesn't have the confidence anymore that he used to have.
He's fucked...unless he boxes like he used to...unless he uses his head.

I haven't watched the fight in ages but i remember Hopkins starting a bit quicker than he had done in the first meeting they shared alot of rounds i thought it was very close Taylor did look more focused down the stretch i agree but i didn't really feel he done much better bro.

Yep i agree i think the jab was the key in first fight Pavlik's jab was like a power shot it was rocking Taylor's head back all the time do you see Taylor boxing more cautious fight in the rematch ??
Agreed...but I still want him to hammer him out right at the end.
