Just another one of Wacko’s Drunken Round by Rounds : Vargas vs Mayorga.

What better way to celebrate the day after the Thanksgiving day holiday than watching a couple of turkeys duke it out.

Wacko’s Drunken Round by Round features…yet another chance at redemption for both Fernando Vargas (30 fights, 26 wins with 22 ko’s, & 4 losses) & Ricardo Mayorga (36 fights, 28 wins with 23 ko’s, 6 losses, & 1 draw) as they meet at or around 160lbs…with some leniency given to Vargas…I believe. Hillaroiusly enough…these two “fools” will get another chance at a title also…as the bout is set for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Super Middleweight title.

Yep…you heard that right…both men are competing for a Super Middleweight title.

Fat asses.


In the end…I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I wasn’t the slightest bit amused by these two fools pissing & moaning & flexing & all that bullshit…so I’ll go on record & say that I don’t give a shit who wins or loses…just as long as one of them does convincingly.

As much as I despise them both…I can honestly say that I want Mayorga to stop Vargas…but I doubt that it happens.

The bout rolls out like on ShowTime PPV at around 10ish & is supported by Kermit Cintron (29 fights, 28 wins with 26 ko’s, & 1 loss) as he matches power & skills against Jesse Feliciano (23 fights, 15 wins with 9 ko’s, 5 losses, & 3 draws) in defense of his IBF Welterweight strap. That should be a goody & will most likely redeem the card & cost of the bout.

They’re both indeed loud mouth braggarts that bring nothing more than idiocy to the game…but I suppose we need that in our sport right?

Oh lordy.

Anywho…once again…I’ll be covering the fights for ya…but I haven’t got much to say…so I’ll let the Mayorga & Vargas fans do the bulk of the commentary.

As far as who I predict to win…probably Vargas.

There’s more skill there than there is stupidity…& the same can’t be said of Mayorga.

That being said…I’d love for them to connect at the same time & send one another to “la la land” but that’s wishing & hoping waaaaaaaaaaay too much.

How many knockouts does it take to become this stupid?

Let's see...both have been blasted out in their last two or three fights...so I'd say that that about wraps that question up with a nice little bow on it.

This could have been an absolute classic 5 years ago. Now its a sideshow. Mayorga by TKO.

he name of the fight The Brawl suggests it all, & thats what I'm expecting. Eagles right 5 years ago it would have been a super-fight. Now just a Brawl!

I think Vargas may still possess the better skills & technique but I think Mayorga's chin is still granite! In this fight I don't really see technique coming into it. It may help Vargas land some good shot but once he gets caught himself he's going down!!! With Mayorga swing for the fences from the 1st bell I don't see the fight going past 3 rounds, especially with both guys weighing 164 pounds... well above either guys best fighting weight!

Hell yeah! Mayorga is gonna bring it, he better anyway. This is his LAST fukin chance, if he wants to continue boxing. Gotta admit that fukin muscleman pose off thing they did was stupid as hell, but funny none the less. Shame I gotta work tomorrow and miss the fight, and put up with customers fukin bullshit!!! I voted Vargas by Ko, but meant i really don't care.
If it's on Sop i may give it a look, but i'm not pushed really. Don't like either guy unfortunately.

Even though Vargas may be shot to fwock Mayorga is so one dimentional and easy to hit that it wont make much difference if it goes past 6 prepare for a hug fest.

I've gone back and forth with this fight. After listening to these two talk, I'm not sure how anyone can say they don't care about this fight. The insults are classic, and even if it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, for tonight, it's a great fight that surely will end with one of them getting stopped.

If this had been made at Light-Middle, I think Mayorga would seriously hurt Vargas. Now we're moving up in weight, I'm unsure, as I see Vargas being stronger. I did read recently that Vargas still has a bulging disk in his back that he's able to cover up by bulking up on his abs and back. Counting on that not to flare up sounds stupid to me and if we go past 6 rounds he's gunna be feeling it. Even at this weight, I'm sticking with my original prediction of a Mayorga TKO between 4 & 6 rounds.

I fucking hope Mayorga wins. He's an arsehole, but lets face it, they both are...and when both have spent their careers disrespecting other fighters, I can't have sympathy for the guy that loses the war of words before hand. This time, Mayorga has been plain funny.

I expect Vargas to back up and counter punch the first round. But as soon as Mayorga connects, if he does, with a big shot, we'll see more fireworks. But I believe Vargas is going for the decision and Mayorga wants a War, hence all the trash talking to get Vargas angry.

Logically, yes everything you said is right, Vargas is the better boxer and the bigger man, however he's also shot, and sluggish becus of his bad back, and thus will shuffle his bulky ass right into a big punch, and then series of big punches from Mayorga which will end the night for el feroz.

For the regular posters who want to see this fight go to the other side, the one beyond 1,000. :)

Vargas back is worse than mine, that's the difference between two fighters that have seen better day's, Mayorga takes this one.

Hey Wacko... what's up mah-man! I voted Mayorga by TKO. In a battle of former Tito KO victims (and DLH as well), I just think "the Crazy One" has a bit more left in the tank. Vargas strikes me as being a shell of his former self..... not even, as a matter of fact. Mayorga by TKO.

Dang guys....I totally didnt realise that this was going to be on a Friday night...which just shows how much the brand names of Vargas and Mayorga has gone downhill.

From what I've observed of American boxing, only prospects and washed-ups fight on Friday night shows usually, and these two are sure as hell not prospects.

However, its live on Setanta here in the UK and I'm looking forward to it, so hopefully they show it close to live, and I'll see you guys in a few hours.

And even though Vargas is going to back up and try to land counters, if he sees a knockout he'll go for it, but he won't trade from the start like he did with Shane. Maybe wrestle, but he'll always try to counter.


I'm rooting for Mayorga. We Mayorga fans go way back. heheh I used to root for him back in Vernon Forrest days. I remember Ricardo, when he defeated Six Heads Lewis, man, that was about five years back.
