...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Well, well, well CROATIA just handed it to you, you poor guys and now JOSE is being talked about as your next manager?!?!?!
I have a few questions:
#1 during heavy rain or shortly after can't a match be postponed or even called off for another day?
#2 Doesn't Sir Alex Furgusson seem like a better fit as manager of ENGLAND seeing how he's from there and is a fucking knight?
#3 Wouldn't guys on the England team who also play for Chelsea be reluctant to play for Jose again?
#4 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....YOU SUCK! ;D

Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Lol, England under twenty ones would beat a side of 21 americans at soccer lyle my man
Lol.. Croatia are real good.. And we did suck the other night.. But our strongest side are the same side that are probably about 5 best in the world and came too close to beating brazil this year
Just missing out on euro 08 doesnt make america any better, or make them anywhere near bieng able to beat us in a match
HAARRRRRR :P
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
....our U-21's could beat a lot of regular teams!
The US is very good and honestly we have to thank Bruce Arena for holding us back for so damn long!
We can beat you in a match....when was the last time we played?
I know Croatia is good but all you had to do was tie.....that's fucking sad

Well, being Welsh, I did have a little bit of a grin about it during the match, but I thought that after Crouchy got us back on terms we deserved to hang on for that. However, Croatia showed passion and desire to win a game which they didn't have to win and will have proved a point to world football.
Engalnd just provided repeated failures during the qualifying process and didn't overall deserve to qualify. On the other hand, it will be a really weird European Champs without any teams from the British Isles competing there next year.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
I am sure it will be weird....so is it basically a lock that Germany and Italy will play in the finals?
I am surprised no one answered my questions....I figured anyone bringing up Jose Muhrino's (or however the fuNk you spell that guy's name) would get responses considering how he left Chelsea.
And why isn't Fergusson's named being mentioned as coach considering he coaches one of the more storied franchises in England
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Ferguson manages Man United one of the best club teams in the world he aint going nowere..
besides what sane man would want to manage england...can you imagine the pressure???
Your life goes under a microscope.
And Mourinho is going to a club in italy i think.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Well why would England not want the best coach? Mourinho didn't so much coach at Chelsea as he just put 11 damn good players out there and said "go score goals".
England has a ton of talent but the guys just can't play together, it's a shame
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Lyle , you're a good bloke, but less of the you suck stuff please. It's very serious for footie fans in England at the moment.
ferguson wouldn't manage England and the fans wouldn't want him. He is Scottish and we know deep down he has no time for England - he never played ball a lot of the time when it came to using his Man U players in friendlies.
i agree the team has too many egos - and Mourinho is the man to handle those egos
The chelsea players were devastated when Mourinho went - apart from Shevchenko. The guy commands respect.
Next summer is going to be awful for the English footie fans but maybe something good will come from this failure - we need to look where it's going wrong. If a player isn't motivated to play for his country and give his all then regardless of who he is or how good he is - he don't play for his coountry. Simple as that

Come on Mark, you can't have a go at Lyle for stating what he perceives, and what many people will perceive to be the truth, which is that England do suck at present. And compared with the usual performances of qualifying for the major competitions, you have to say they do. But it is relative, and I'd still back them to win a one-off game against the US.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
See someone finally answers my question....ok SAF is a Scot, CC to you sir
Hey I'm American I'm used to watching good teams under perform due to bad coaching or selfish play (we have that more in basketball though which I guess is more similar to your situation).....I'm sorry if it sounds a bit harsh at the moment but nothing is gained by sugar coating the result. If you play the victim role now the players will start playing that role anytime they have a bad game. People need to be accountable for the lack of success and firing the manager was a step in the right direction.
England's players and fans will learn a lot from watching this year's matches and in the end they'll want it more and play with some fucking heart.

Come on Ice...you have to admit that it is a game where players have to have a great degree of skill and accuracy, and I'm sure there are those football fans who can't understand how boxers get millions of pounds forjust standing a ring and hitting some other guy. All about perspective .....
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
I wasn't having a go at home at him just asking him not to do what he did. I am passionate about my football mate
I have never slagged another country off by saying you suck on a public forum - and I never would, certainly after a disaster as great as we had suffered this week.
Thats for the countrymen to say not the outsiders. Our nation's national game is at an all time low and we need to address root problems - we will.
Lyle - no hard feelings whatsoever ;)

Not really most people can play football its not really a hard game, boxers have to train there a** off and they get battered in the ring.
It just makes me sick when fireman are risking there life and they get hardly anything but footballers get millions for running around a pitch and kicking a ball :-\

Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Lyle the USA are shit mate your two best players are Landon Donovan and Freddy Adu (Who plays in Portugal because US Football is that shit LMFAO).
We have got Wayne Ronney, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Andrew Johnson, Joe Cole, Owen Hargreaves, Ashley Cole, Micah Richards, Shaun Wright-Phillips... do you really want me to go on.
I Can't believe you can say England are poo when your country's footie is 10x worse.

England has played soccer for a lot longer than the US and I do believe we have beaten you before fair and square.
American players are very good it's the coaching that has had our national team doing poorly, but Bruce Arena is gone and Bob Bradley is doing quite well.
Landon Donovan can never decide if he wants to be a midfielder or a forward and it makes the coaches move him around alot....he is kind of like A-Rod he presses too much sometimes.....Adu and Dempsey play much better at their positions.
Freddy Adu is 18 and he's a passer and everyone gives him so much shit....WHY? He's good and yes he's good enough to warrant the attention paid to him....if he has Altidore and Johnson to pass to the US will do just fine. To have an 18 year old American playing on a Champions League team is a huge step. Not to mention the guys like Howard, Friedle, Dempsey, Spector, and so on who play in the EPL and are all doing very well.
Complaining about the US isn't going to make England suck any less right now.
And to be honest I never said they were shit I just said they played like shit....they are talent rich but to have that much talent you really shouldn't lose to Croatia now should you?
....and the US doesn't suck as bad as you think in Soccer, we're just not consistant

I thought you said Howard was one of America's worst and Wayne Rooney made his CL debut at 18 and scored a hatrick.
And yes mate US soccer is shite unfortunately and have to rely on good old beckham to turn it around for you while pocketing about 20 million a season out of you guys lmfao.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
....I said that because Timmy plays for Everton, when he's playing for the US he's quite good it's only when he's playing for Everton when he sucks
Wayne Rooney grew up in England and therefore had better competition earlier.
Freddy Adu made his MLS debut at 14.....that's impressive
And Real Madrid want Jozy Altidore bad and he's only 18
We don't rely on Beckham LA Galaxy are shit and Beckham is not a guy who can lift a team all by himself....Beckham is more of a celebrity than a soccer player right now....and it seems to me he can't handle the rough play over here.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
I think the US will give any team a run for their money by the time the next WC comes around.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
I really don't see why Freddy Adu gets so much shit...Donovan I understand but can you say you honestly wouldn't want Adu on your team even as a sub???
I would rather have Adu on Liverpool than Harry Kewell, at least Freddy can play every now and then!
Altidore will rival Rooney as a goal scorer you just wait he is a baaaaaaad man. He's got power and damn he can put it away!

Who the hell is he and I'm not being critical of US Soccer but it will never be on the same par as the leaugue footie or international wise, american soccer doesn't appeal to anybody in the US apart from Beckham for the cash and players on the verge of retirement.
"Wayne Rooney grew up in England and had better competition earlier"
From the mean streets of Toxteth yeh surrounded by drug dealers and Alcoholics okay ye mate read his book and you will realise the fully story, Rooney grew up in a very rough Liverpool estate and still became the World's most expensive teenager.
Nobody in the U.K. has heard of Altidore and Real Madrid have been linked with every young player mate, they were linked with Arteta last season but it's just paper talk as usual.
When Beckham joined U.S. soccer fans came out in numbers and said Beckham will turn it around, do great stuff bla bla blaand and who got the best out of beckham, that's right the English Premier league, the best league in the world.
Look at Rooney's goal v Arsenal when he was just 16 playing for Everton and Everton were the club that formed Wayne Rooney, the club who gave him a chance and guided him through the early stages of his carrer. I've still got my Everton shirt with Rooney on in my cupboard and talking of Everton we beat Sunderland 7-1 total demolition.

Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
leftylee the MLS is just getting off the ground I mean it's been around over 10 years but it's a slow process to build a sport somewhere where it's not as popular....we were NEVER going to start out rivaling the EPL or Serie A or anyone else.
WHO THE HELL IS JOZY ALTIDORE?!?!?! Jozy is 18 and here's his first goal at age 16 ...tell me that's shit and you're crazy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOY-e7xHM8k
FUCK WAYNE ROONEY...Altidore will be in the EPL or La Liga sooner than you think!
Adu and Altidore got the US U-20 team to beat Brazil in the U-20 world cup....how did England do???? They didn't get as far as we did and I am damn sure we could beat your team even if they got Rooney and Walcott....Adu and Altidore are going to be big stars....talk your shit now so you look like a fool later.
I hope Altidore ends up on Liverpool it would be your worst nightmare.....I'd take him right now over Crouch, Voronin, and Babel....I'd trade all 3 of them for Altidore that's how fucking good he is

Looks good but I can't see him being better than Rooney, Rooney's name is known worldwide and I guarantee I'll have the last laugh over the next few years when nothing comes of this guy, hopefully you will prove me wrong though.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
By the way that vid was when Rooney was 16 too and how he ended Arsenal's 42 game unbeaten run with that goal.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Fact is that Rooney was a prodigy at 16, and it's equally possible that Altidore is showing that same level of potential, but unfortunately Rooney has already delivered so he will always be one step ahead in this argument. And fortunately for him he's moved on to a team where he can really fulfill his potential and win major trophies. Shame he isn't Italian and could win something on the international stage too.

AGREED 100% ;)

Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Well I do believe Wayne Rooney's living in England had an affect on how fast he got to where he is today....as there are more teams more intrest and more competition.
If Jozy Altidore was Brazilian he'd already be playing for Real Madrid same with Adu.
Jozy is bigger and stronger than Wayne too he has a ton of potential...you can't deny that he's a really good player

I can't tell by a name where they are from....I didn't look at his fucking biography or anything I just assumed he was English....I guess I made a mistake, please don't let me forget about such a simple misunderstanding....I do really wish to be joked about and bitched at.
I know more geography than the average American or the average Brit so get off my ass, at least I know who Alex Furgusson is.

How do you know how much geography that the average American knows, or even the average Brit for that matter? I'd imagine it was quite a well known fact that Ferguson was Scottish. Sort of like that Sean Connery dude you Americans have taken to your bosom.
This post is merely complying with your desire to be joked about and bitched at......asshole. ;)

I'm sure we can resurrect this thread in five or six years time and we can see what Altidore and Adu have achieved for themselves in the football world. Hopefully they won't suffer from the same hype that jinxed Ibrahim Bakayoko's career, who was once destined to be an ATG in his teens and early 20s, but never quite made it.
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
Sure that's fine with me....I will wait for England's demise as a soccer power.......oh, I missed it, it happened just the other week HA!
-
Re: ...who says England could beat the US in SOCCER?
I don't get England's team, I mean I don't think they're on a level with teams like Brazil, but they've got good players, not sure why they don't play well together. Is Paul Robinson still the keeper? Fuck's sake he sucks, that's the one thing the U.S. team has had is pretty good goalkeepers.
Anyway, it'd be a bit of a landmark for U.S. soccer if Altidore went to Real Madrid but how long would it be before he actually got into the playing rotation? I guess it wouldn't hurt for him to train over there even if he wasn't playing.
I've heard that Adu's doing pretty well for Benfica? Dempsey's pretty good, just wish he had some speed.
-
