Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
This fight is one I can never see to much...caught it on Classic last night...The bombs those two threw was amazing :o :o...and the fact both men stayed on their feet!!!!!.....There would have been no shame if either one would have been KO'd that night considering the heat on the leather handed out......
Today either man would be world champion if they were around in the stage of their careers....Oleg, Chagaev, Sultan all would be walked through by either...Tua looked trim as hell in that fight and I almost forgot how Imposing looking IKE was....that guy was a freaking specimne and a half

Ikes a damned shame,so much ability,so little brain

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
I just watched this minute McGuigan vs Cruz again that was one hell of a battle.
As for Ike vs Tua i scored it a draw.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
I was a HUGE Ike fan back in the day. Loved him...but he totally blew it. He was a fwockin ragin lunatic.
He was damned impressive coming up & was just really coming into his own when he beat both Tua & Byrd & back then...that was a feat.
I loved the Tua fight...but I get the biggest kick out of watching the Byrd fight.
He battered poor Chris damned near senseless.

Byrd tried to argue with the ref that it wasn't a knockdown i found that hilarious ;D

No shit. He was knocked fwockin re-tarded! That ref saved his life.

No S***. He was knocked fwockin re-tarded! That ref saved his life.
I gave Byrd a hell of a lot more respect after seeing him get up from that punch...that one would have kept a lot of bigger men down for the count. It's a shame Ike couldn't keep it together - he was a monster in the ring.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
Ever wonder how a Tyson-Ibeabuchi or Holyfield-Ibeabuchi fight would have gone???
Of course it would have been better if a prime Tyson fought him but it still would have been just as good with the old crazy Tyson

I would have loved to see my boy Lennox fight Ike ;)

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
Those three fights would have been the stuff of legend, I think.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
thats my first time watching the whole fight always saw the late
the earky rounds ibeabuchi was beating tua azz
i thought ibeabuch won

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
I don't know how Byrd got back up. Saliva was pouring out of his mouth. Like he just went to the dentist to get a tooth filled.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
Evander vs. Ike woulda been crazy....
-
Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
It's a coincidence I've just been watching a lot of Ibeabuchi, and I think he would beaten Holyfield's ass... I mean Holyfield's punches wouldn't even phase this guy, and he had decent boxing skills. I would say just because he would fight on the outside, was so strong, and threw so many punches that Holyfield would be overwhelmed by the combination of elements.

Now Bowe v Ike would have been the one to watch ;)

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
Bowe would have been too easily intimidated by Ike.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
I saw that fight again recently. What really struck me was Ike's incredible workrate. He kept throwing shots and his stamina was amazing. Tua landed the harder shots, but Ike outlanded him big time. Yeah, Ike was a great talent and we never saw how far he could go.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
Nice To see It on Classic lastnight. If there was a Peak Tua..This was It IMO.He just seemed to go downhill with subpar fights and Disappeared after what was a Very close tough fight.
And to think someone saw Ike as a beatable "mark" with a Minimal 16-0 record was insane. He was a physical dynamo and really displayed diverse and very refined skills. That Jab early was Great.
Also I had never seen Fight with Blow by Blow team of John Scully and Brian kenny.Scully always seems to make key points (Tua waiting and punching in 1's and 2's).A big difference from original call on HBO with human thesaurus Lampley shouting and Merchant.

Davis vs. Breland Is one that "got" me hooked early. It really was a brutal fight and a highlight reel finish.I had forgotten exactly how Beat-up and Bruised Davis was ,Right after Dierdorf lamented "He has not thrown any rights",the only one of the 9th found its detonation point....KTFO Indeed...Nice fight.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
I had it 115-113 for Tua. Some of the rounds were very close though a draw would have been justified. One judge had it 117-111 for Ike which was way off imo.
-
Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
Personally I don't see how it could be scored for Tua, he didn't do enough in most rounds to win them IMO it was close, but clear victory for Ike. I don't think anybody else could have foughten that Tua in those quarters... even Young Foreman would have been KO'ed IMO because he didn't have the chin.

Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
What happened with Ike's parole hearing, it was in August? If he gets out, I heard he is in great condition. That would be like the Tyson return after jail. All the heavies would be shitting themselves. I dont know if boxing wants him back after what happened.
-
Re: Just watched Tua/Ibeabuchi again
Heres some prime Ike , against a jorneyman but watch that combo to end it, that was sweet.

I seriously doubt we'll see him back in the ring. Such a shame, too - he was something else inside the ring.
