Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
In a recent interview with popular Spanish outlet Primerhora, Top Rank promotor Bob Arum said that he would like to match up WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto with Joshua Clottey in March, with an undercard bout between Antonio Margarito and former lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo, who fought his last bout near the welterweight limit. Provided both get the W, Cotto would face Margarito in June.

Castillo should pack in he is done now.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
Cotto has to fight the winner of Hatton vs PBF then Margo

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
Cotto is turning out to be some champ isn't he?
Clottey is a pretty avoided fighter, justifiably as for a welter he's pretty damn fierce!

Well as far as I'd heard he was supposed to be challenging for Ricardo Torres WBO belt soon. That should be an indication of how done he is. He needs the money, so he's kinda gotta carry on.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
I read in boxing news that Jlc was the mandatory for junior Witters belt or had to fight a final eliminator or something.

I hope he's ready for Margarito, because if he's not done now he might very well be after he fights Tony. This is a fight I don't really want to see happen. Cotto/Clottey will be a nice match up, though I can't see anything other than a V for Cotto.

That's exactly right he has no choice, but to keep boxing, he has like 80 kids and that lawsuit to pay off.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
Margarito will crush Castillo
Cotto vs Clottey will be very hard fight for Cotto, obviously Cotto will be the favorite but i wouldn't put my money on Cotto to win thats for certain.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
I'd love to see Cotto/Clottey. That would be a brutal fight.
I think I'd rather see Margarito fight Williams again, even if the result would probably be the same.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
IF HAtton did that damage to JLC imagine what Margarito could do. Very very bad IDEA. Arum if you like castillo that much don't put him up for this

Yeah I don't see how this can help either guy: Margarito's image or Castillo's health. Arum that a## probably will bet the bank on Tony and make a sacrificial lamb out of Castillo. I just don't get it ???

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
The Margarito-Castillo one sucks to me, they could find something better than that.
Clottey is definitely not a gimme fight for Cotto but I don't think Clottey will do enough to win it, something about him makes me think he'll never quite get over the hump against an elite or top guy.

He doesn't like Castillo. Castillo cost his promotion one of its biggest paydays when he showed up overweight for the third Corrales fight.
Remember he was talking all the "as far as Im concerned I don't represent him!" talk?

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
Well at least Margarito is staying busy and hope he will get a shot at Williams but if he fought Cotto i be betting on Margarito his style not good for Cotto.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
Castillo is going to get stopped for the 2nd time. Margo is gonna put a beating on him. Cotto-Clottey is an interesting fight, I'll admit to not knowing much about Clottey, the only fight I've seen him in was the Corrales match, and he looked pretty good in that one. He seems to hold his hands really high, almost like Winky except I don't think his arms cover as much of his body, that could be a big problem against a wrecking ball like Cotto. On the other hand, Clottey seems to have good power and great defense, so its certainly not a gimme for Cotto.
I've learned my lesson about picking Cotto to lose though.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
That is a brutal card. Castillo is a ballsy mofo if he takes that fight, but he is gonna get hurt in that one. Margarito is like a middleweight fighting and WW. Castillo doesnt have power at LWW and he thinks he can go to WW against Tony...he may be punchy.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
JLC is finding it hard to make 140,that's probably why he is moving up. He's crazy to fight Tony but it should be a war for as long as it lasts.Clottey Cotto is not going to be made or at least is going to be difficult to make. Clottey has to beat Alvarez on Dec20th or something, and that nakes him number 1 for the IBF title, and not Cotto's WBA title. I think if they do fight,Cotto is going to beat on Clottey. Clottey holds his hands high, exposing his bbody ALOT,and he gasses in fights too.
I think the plan is for Cotto and Tony to win and fight each other in June, assuming Oscar and Floyd turn Cotto down.

Re: Cotto vs. Clottey, Margarito vs. Castillo in March?
Would be a great matchup, Cotto vs Clottey. I like both fighters very much. Cotto shows his guts fighting Joshua, to me Clottey is the riskiest Welter in the division and if Cotto isint 100% ready he could get upsetted by this kid.
Margo vs Castillo would be a total bloodbath in favor of MargaBurrito.

I think there are alot of WW out there that could provide shocks(Collazo,Quintana) but I agree,Clottey is among them but I think he is a step below elite. I favour Cotto to take it. I'm glad to see Tony staying active ;D 8)
