Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
According to a report in PrimeraHora, Carlos Quintana (24-1, 19KOs) has accepted the offer to fight WBO welterweight champion Paul Williams (33-0, 24KOs) in the headline bout of an HBO tripleheader on February 2. The chief supporting bouts include, though not official, heavyweights Chris Arreola vs. rumored opponent David Tua and undefeated prospect Andre Ward stepping up in class, possibly against Allan Green.

As everybody probably knows i'm quite fond of Paul Williams and I really am gald he's bringing this inactivity to an end!

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
You know Mayweather would never fight Williams. A tall guy with fast hands...Floyd would shit his pants.

cc for the news bro, im looking forward to this card already, the next step for p will after this should be Cotto, when do you guys think williams will move up?hes a big guy and has potential to win belts in a few weight classes f he can carry his powerup ala Tommy Hearns, I see alot of similarities in Hearns and Williams.

He's not as strong as you'd expect but he's hardly the weakest either.

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
He could go up in weight and I think that is inevitable. He could be very successfull with his style but power will have nothing to do with it.
To compare him to Hearns is downright laughable.

Pretty much. Outside of the body type there totally different fighters.
I don't see this being a good fight for Quintana.
And Alan Green-Andre Ward? That's definitely interesting.

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
Arreola's management must be brave or extremely confident in Arreola's ability to let him mix with David Tua.
Good to see Quintana stepping upto the plate and Williams getting a worthy challenger.

Sounds like a good card - solid matchup for PW. CC for the heads up!

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
I thought Williams vs. Cintron was a go?? This is treading water....
-
Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
Cintron's out with a hand injury, bruised or ligaments or something.
-
Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
Williams-Quintana will be a good fight. Good to see Quintana step up.
-
Quintana Williams probably next.
Quintana has allegedly accepted PW's offer for a fight. I take Williams in this,Quintana could be on the other side of the ring and Williams could reach him! Should be interesting though,I've never see PW v a slick boxer.
-
Re: Quintana Williams probably next.
I pick PW as well maybe even by KO. but who knows
-
Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
I think Carlos is in head first here. Williams will be too much for him, I think Williams stops him in the later rounds.
Good deal for Carlos tho stepping up to the challenge while others ran from it.
-
Re: Quintana Williams probably next.
Oh good a showcase fight for Williams. Williams can stop him.

I can't wait for that one...Hopefully Greene will dispatch Ward and spare us from having to hear his name as a future star ever again

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
that's an odd one to me
I don't even think Green's that good, didn't think he was that good before the Miranda fight and spending the whole fight making sure his shoelaces were tied didn't really change my mind.
But Ward looks like a KTFO waiting to happen to me.
And his people can't be cashing him out yet so they must think there's something there.

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
The undercard sounds more interesting, if it comes off anyway, than the main event. I think WIlliams would beat Quintanna, though he might get frustrated at first. Quintana is kinda like Soliman, all over the place. I think Greene will knock Ward out. Haven't seen enuff of Arreola and Tua lately to pick a winner there. Hopefully it will all go down.

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
IMO he sucks...They tried like hell to hype him up and to this day almost no one has bought it....I think the 2004 boxing team may be the most disappointing there has ever been

Agreed. He's looked very chinny on a few occasions and this is a huge step up.

Re: Quintana accepts Paul Williams fight for Feb 2nd (Superb undercard)
Gotta hand it to Quintana, he's not afraid of anyone and will get in there with the will to fight...
But williams is in a different league. Wouldn't be surprised to see PAAUL LOOKING STONGER THIS TIME AND I FEEL A STOPPAGE MAY BE ON THE CARDS (ALTHOUGH NOT EARLY.)
