Katsidis possibly could, though I doubt it. I think he might be Juan's most physical opponent, but I see Juan beating him severely in the later rounds. Casamayor might as well retire, Juan will beat him silly. I think he'll make David Diaz quit.
I could see someone with a good chin a good power giving him trouble. Someone like Nate Campbell, a hard counter-puncher. Campbell is the avoided one at lightweight right now, he's too high risk, and low reward(mainly due to having so many losses).
I agree Campbell would give him the hardest time, but I think Diaz would win.
Campbell needs to get a shot soon against a good name, he could fight Casamayor. He just recently was cleared of all charges so he should have something happening soon.
JD is a volume puncher, but isn't heavy-handed. Heck, I'd like to see Guzman in there.
In my opinion, NO. ;D
I think if Pac moves up Pac has a damn! good shot at beating Diaz.
Just for kicks I would LOVE to see Miguel A. Huerta give it a go against Diaz.
Other fighters who I would like to see face Diaz:
Jonathan Saxton
Yuri Romanov
I think Pacquaio and Guzman represent his best chances although I really think David Diaz would give him a good battle.
Diaz and Katsidis would be the stuff of legends, it's the kind fight you just know shouldn't get sanctioned on the grounds of excessive violence and brutality.
Of the others out there I don't see anyone. Maybe Amir Khan in a couple years and isn't one of the Peterson brothers a lightweight?
Anthony but by the time Amir or he accumilate enough wins to face him he'll probably have moved on to Light Welter.Quote:

Sign me up for Katsidis first...
I've been mightily impressed with Diaz - good conditioning, exciting to watch, good chin ..... he does not have anybig weaknesses but (like all of us) there are some things he is less good at. I think he may be a bit one-dimensional and his lack of one-punch power may hinder him if he ever needs to come from behind against anyone.
I'm assuming the thread means can anyone around today beat him? Because I'd hate to see the poor guy in there with Roberto Duran !!
Nope. He's the best fighter in the division by a mile and he's easy top 10 P4P in my eyes. It's just a matter of time before Pac steps up, takes a beating and we all have him in our top 3.
Yes,anyone can be beaten firstly and secondly, with his style,he's never going to last in the fight game long. There's only so many times you can fight at that pace! It's insane. At the moment,I think Kats doesn't have a bad chance, and Manny,if he was able to maintain his power, would have a good chance too.He does look awesome and destructive but someone with a good chin and can bang back would test him.
While I am "big ups" on Diaz...I think that "the Guz" gives 'em all issues.
I no that the title asked "at lightweight."
But when he steps up to light welter we'll see him beaten comprohensively as i feel his volume punching will be less effective against bigger guys.
The simple answer: no.
Do you mean Thaxton?Quote:

I don't think there is much at 135 for him to overly worry about. He's king of the castle.
Spot on on "ono" I meant Thaxton... :)Quote:

Seasoned fighter I mean I really think he's got a chance at beating Diaz.
Well ono, that would be because Amir & Diaz are two styles that are worlds apart.Quote:

Yes, when pac moves up juan will be another good win for pac. juan doesn't have power and his not even bigger than pac. his pressure style will be his downfall against pac. the style to beat pac is the one jmm has. You just don't go at a fighter like pac you have to mix it up, juan will run into a wall of punishment against pac.
Guzman and Valero can also move up and beat juan.
At this very moment in time I don't see anybody beating a 100% Juan Diaz. I think some fighters such as Campbell can give Diaz a bit of problems but I don't see anybody beating him.
I don't give too many guys who stand and fight have that much of a chance unless there just a big puncher and catch him with something he doesn't see, maybe in between a combo. But more times than not he's gonna beat those type guys, he's rarely gonna be outbrawled.
I think a guy with good movement, good stamina, and the discipline to fight his fight and not give in and let Diaz impose his style has the best shot.
Diaz-Guzman would be interesting stylewise, personally not interested in it since there two of my favorites.
I'm not sure...but i cant wait to see them try.
