What becomes of Hatton if........
I got Mayweather winning by lopsided points win. Even by late stoppage. But what becomes of Hatton if he were to get knocked out in the first round? Does he go down as overrated? Does it become fact that he can only beat old fighters? What? Keep in mind the key word is "If". So you Hatton concubines don't get all riled up.

I think it'll be the same ole' stuff from both sides of the Hatton fence. If he got ktfo in round 1, oh God I feel bad for the Hatton fans, myself included. I think he is a bit overrated, though I don't consider him a bum. I think he is a B-class fighter, and he should have stayed at 140 IMO. I think he'll get stopped in 7, but I just want to see what he can do against the #1 fighter in the world. I'll be happy if he gets through 12 rounds still standing{by himself}. As many people that have fought Floyd, Hatton will be the one that everyone will talk about 4-f#cking-ever; believe that!! There will be excuses on one side and laughter on the other if it goes 1 round. I just hope if he shows good, and can get 12 rounds, that some people at least give him some credit.

It would go down as a fluke to be honest....Mayweather does not hit all that hard especially at 147...Hatton has never been beaten before....so with the two combined what else would you call it?....Even a well past his best Tszyu hit harder then Floyd.......

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
People will say he was seizing his opportunity for a big payday before getting exposed to higher caliber fighters. I dont know but I can see another Nas incident, maybe he fades away, but I think Ricky would continue on and if he fought and beat a high caliber guy he wouldnt catch too much heat. Alot of great fighters have lost to Mayweather.

I completely and categorically agree.hehehe.

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Reguardless of whether or not Mayweather is the better fighter, a 1st round ko by Floyd would imo be a fluke given Rickys chin plus the fact PBF only has 3 1st round stoppages.

Fluke or not. What kind of hit does Hatton reputation take?

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
I think it would hurt him for a while but assuming he kept on winning after that he would bounce back with in 3 or 4 more fights assuming they were against decent opp....of course the 1rd KO loss would follow him during every announcement for the next 2yrs....if he kept winning and that was his only loss during his prime years...everyone would write it off as just that...A fluke...he got caught with the perfect punch then not given time to recover etc.....If John Ruiz can bounce back from the 1rd KO loss to Tua Hatton would be able to.....
Then again this is boxing and fans can be unforgiving as can the press be

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Probably not much. He still dominates 140 afterwards, most likely.
Flip the coin, though - what happens if PBF gets KTFO in the first round? What does that do to his reputation?

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Just out of interest I had this boxing software once that analysed all aspects of a fighter and computer generated a rbr commentary on who would win the fight.
I put Hatton and Mayweather into and Hatton won in the first round with a left hook to the body.
This was about a year ago.
Could it have been a premonition?

Absolutely. You should clear out your 401(k) to place a KO by Hatton. At 8:1, you can retire early.

If he goes down as Overrated,What does that make Floyd?
Everything Hatton has ,he Is putting into this fight .
If ..(wont happen)...If Hatton should fall he'll go back to shining platform shoes on the streets Lillyputten(?) but he'll strongly protest how bad HE hurt HIS hands ::** ::** on Maywithers mighty knee caps In addition My new temp name will be "Tonya from the 9th Ward loves me some V.D " Or Not.
There will be many casualties from this Fight! Good fight ,and undercard!

I would ask for my money back.... you should test it against fights that have happened since its release.

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
maybe we could ask Welshdevilrob about it.He's good in predicting major events.hehehe.
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
A fair question although that truely would be a shock!
I'd have to say a drop back to 140, fights with Pauli, Witter and perhaps dlh at 147 to try and redeem himself.
I see a loss to MAYWEATHER FORCING hATTON TO STAY IN GAME LONGER THAN HE HAD PLANNED AND GETTING BEAT AS A RESULT.

It's not Final Destination ;D
To be honest Hatton would surely be the favorite to score and early KO if there was going to be one IMO.

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Mayweather hasn't scored a stoppage win below 6 rounds since beating Angel Manfredy in 1998. If by some Miracle it happens then i will say Hatton got caught cold, but an excellent win for Mayweather for the way he done it.

In saying that it's not that he isnt capable, he could have stopped Gatti earlier but he seemed to want to draw it out a bit. I feel Floyds style really hits its rhythm in round 5 so perhaps thats why he's not Koing much these days.
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
If he got blown out in 1 round he would look abit of overrated fighter who could only beat old guys or B class fighters his record is padded out abit but thats Frank Warren for you.But i can't see him getting blown out in 1 it will either be a late stoppage defeat for him or UD12 loss Mayweather is just to good for Hatton this is a bridge to far
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
It wouldn't be the biggest shock ever if Hatton got stopped in 1, he's been on the deck before in the opening round.
So it would mean he made $20million for under three minutes work. Not bad.
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Is that what Hatton is getting $20 million

I read £6million with a posibilty of that becoming £10million when everything is added-up.

Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Not bad for getting your Ass kicked by Floyd Mayweather where do i sign ;D
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
If the hitman gets knocked out in the first round, then most people, especially the americans will say hatton was overrated all along and only beat old guys,i think it would set his career back years...
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
I wont think any different of hatton either way...one fight doesn't do that for a fighter to me. I think hatton is biteing off way way more than he can chew, but he is a decent fighter reguardless. After saturday i think he'll get over it and get right back in to the mix of things, i would still give him a good chance against most out there.
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
An article on boxingtalk about how Hatton has made a pact with his family to retire in a year.
Who knows, it could be a Floyd Mayweather type of "retirement"
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
To me it will just reinforce the fact that he isint on Mayweathers level, at the same time a 1 round KO would never happen Hatton is to damn good for that to happen.
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Sorry for responding to a much earlier post, but I can't believe that people are referring to Hatton as a B class fighter. Anyone who does not realise that he is top quality has either not seen him much or does not know boxing. He is special, he's just not quite as special as the guy he's about to fight.
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
Dont get me wrong, he's at the top of the list of the B class fighters not the bottom
-
Re: What becomes of Hatton if........
He must be in the A class. When he fought Kostya the division was considered the hottest, and he upset the odds by winning fairly convincingly. Ok, he has had mediocreprformances since then, but it's a testament to his class that so many people on this site post their opinions about the fight with Mayweather If he was b class, they simply wouldn't bother.
