Your worst boxing predictions?

I don't think too many people were around here at the time of the Mayweather-Gatti fight but I remember clearly that there was a last minute poll before the fight and like 50 people voted and Gatti got the majority of the votes.

We all make bad predictions-luckily I didn't get that one wrong-from time to time, everybody does it.

So what's your worst predictions lately? No need to say some shit like Sturm-Castilliejo, everybody picked Sturm in that one. And no need for something where one of the guy's was some complete unknown.

I guess my worst overall would have been picking Robin Reid over Lacy. I was kinda just wanting to pick an upset and thought Lacy was a bit overhyped but still, a shitty pick. Luckily I changed my mind enough on Lacy to pick him over Calzaghe ::**

By far my worst prediction was Chavez Jr./Sanchez. I picked Chavez Jr. to k.o. Sanchez in 7. Problem is, I predicted it last night, 4 days after it happened ::** Ooooops ;D

Most recent one that springs to mind is Matthysse to KO Cintron. I was sorta confident so even put a few quid on it :-\

Harris to beat Witter. I'm one of the minority here that actually LIKE Witter and think he'd give Hatton murders. Still can't believe I picked against him. :-\

Worst of all time will always be McClellan to EASILY ko Benn. Lost a load on that, but learnt a good lesson - NEVER bet against your team/man.. with cash.

Come to think of it I picked Harris over Witter too but in my defense for whatever reason I haven't seen a whole lot of Witter fights, one of the few was the Kotelnik fight where I didn't think he looked very good. Still since I thought Harris sucked and looked crappy against Lazcano I probably should have gone with Witter.

Ryan Rhodes to KO Paul Jones in round 8 the bad the about the prediction was i did'nt put the bet on.

I was picking my boys up from there nativity rehersal tonight and just happened to be wearing my team hatton T-shirt. One of the dads strolls up and says "watching the fight then Matt? Hattons gonno murder him aint he"

I had to say sorry mate, I reckon he's gonna get a pasting. Of course he wasnt having it, "nah...nah Ricks gonna smash him, body shot...." So like a prick I try to offer some reasoning, after all Im a 'proper' fan, like to think Ive got half a clue and all that bollocks.

I'll be glad if Im wrong but a little part of me doesnt want Rick to win now just so I dont have to bump into this clown again and get the "I told you so's" ;D

By the way.....Hide over Klitschko????? ;D

Bruno to beat Tyson second time of asking, Benn to beat Collins. Neither of them two are shocking, but it was the manner in which I got it wrong. Both times of asking were similar to what Ive got going on with the nativity play Dad, I was offering some logic to someone that didnt want to hear it and I got it wrong.

Ive had that ALL week. And even had to try and justify myself to people explaining - I WANT Hatton to win, really, really, really WANT Hatton to win I really WANT him to make me wrong just don't think he will.



Worst picks - Not me but I watched Naz-Hardy with a former Brit pro boxer.. he picked Hardy. True.

Nate Campbell-Kid Diamond

I was absolutely 100 percent convinced that Diamond would beat Campbell after seeing Nate look like such a** against Fransisco Lorenzo and not only did Diamond lose it was brutal.

Memphis - I'm in a similar position, although I desperately want Ricky to win no matter what. I teach at a comprehensive, and the kids I teach, who only ever talk about boxing when Kahn's fighting, keep asking me about the fight. I keep telling them that Mayweather is too quick, too versatile and very intelligent, but they aint having any of it. The power of the press has taken over, just as it does with the England team. If Ricky loses, let's see how much coverage he gets after. He deserves total respect anyway, for being a great fighter and a great bloke (as far as I can tell).

Fuck's sake I just took a look at the predictions board and while I've been on a roll with the big fights, really haven't missed one since Pavlik-Miranda, I somehow managed to pick David Estrada over Andre Berto. Don't even remember doing that and have absolutely no clue why I did.

People are listing huge upsets. Are huge upsets really bad picks? I wouldn't say so.

A bad pick is as Ouma said at the start - Gatti to beat Floyd or Baldomir to beat Floyd.

Thinking back I picked Robinson to beat Naz and was CONVINCED McCullough would beat Scott Harrison.. shockingly wrong ;D

There's no shame to losing to the so-called number one fighter. Unless you get Gatti-ized. Or look amateur-ish.

If Ricki ends up landing 80 punches in a near-shutout, then that is an embarrassment. But if he loses 116-112, then he'll be fine.

Hmm, good topic... Off my head, I can remember:

I was convinced that Judah would KO Cotto.... Stupid to think now.

I thought Gatti was still good enough to beat Baldomir.. Really looking back at it Gatti had next to nothing and no business at 147 anyways, and Baldomir was if nothing else a big, solid WW.

Barrera over Pacquiao just recently. I think a lot of people are guilty of this one, in which there was really no reason to pick Marco..

I don't know if I'd really call it a pick(certainly wouldn't have put money on it), but I think I took Morales over Pac in the 2nd and 3rd fights... 3rd was a really horrible call.

Again I didn't really pick with my head, but I thought Roy Jones was going to pull off a win against Tarver in the rubber match. Sad thing is I still think he could have easily won if his head was screwed on for even half the fight.

I remember watching Holyfied fight Toney when I was really just starting to be interested in boxing, it was probably a replay or something... I had a friends dad fill me in on Toneyfrom MW, as well as the fact that he just fought a war at Cruiser and had never fought at HW, I took a look at him, and thought I was going to see this guy get completely killed. It wasn't an informed pick obviously, I didn't know how shot Holyfield was, I just knew he KO'ed Mike Tyson and was a household name. I loved that fight, really made me a Toney fan before I was even a real boxing fan. Just that someone who looked so physically inferior could absolutely dominate his opponent like that..

I thought Trinidad was going to destroy Hopkins inside of 6 rounds

Not here though, no i wasn't a member back then. I got into a discussion on an EAsports forum :D and got on my soap box preaching about how Gatti would never loose to a guy with so little power and that Mayweather would cumble under pressure form a much bigger man.
