I don’t know but to me, it looks like a double standard. Cortez, himself even stated that he didn’t allow Hatton to fight his fight. It also sounds to me as though he is not even sure that blow behind the head even landed. He also claims that Floyd was not using his elbow as a weapon? OMG! See this is were I feel it's right to argue. I was kinda pissed with many of Floyd's fans who failed to acknowledge how bad Cortez's performance was. They were both very dirty, which wasn't the problem...but the fact he deducted a point from Hatton yet did nothing about Floyd was silly.

Did anyone see the point were Cortez threaten to take a point of both of them for one offense? I laughed my tits off at that. What would be the fucking point of deducting a point from both men for the same offense at the same time? It wouldn't affect the outcome.

Also, as I said to Trainer Monkey...which he didn't respond to when I asked him. If you're Jose Luis Castillo, aren't you pissed that he allowed Hatton to get away with things in that fight but penalise him in the Floyd fight?

Again...I'll make the point that thankfully, Floyd's class decided the outcome of the fight, and I'm not making an excuse for Hattons loss. He lost because Floyd was the better fighter.

I have seen several pictures from the fight that clearly show Mayweather ramming his elbow into Hattons face or neck. If I knew how to post the pics I would. But your right it would have not had any outcome on the end result.

Cortez got it all wrong and was huffing and puffing from the first round onwards. He lost control and made decisions that were lacking in sensibility.

He made a mess of his job this weekend and I never want to see him referee a big fight (or even a minor one for that matter) again!

There is no argument that Floyd's class showed in the end, we're arguing that Cortez was poor and showed favourtism.

Im Mayweather fan as you know JT, but Cotto would give Mayweather a very tough nights work. When he is being aggressor he chooses his shots well and doesn't rush in. Remember Castillo gave Mayweather fits by being aggressive but by picking his shots well and not rushing in. Cotto also has quicker hands than you think, i see Cotto do 15 punch combination in his fight with Lovemore N'dou in blur of an eye. Cotto isn't 1 dimensional he use's the jab very well to close the distance between himself and his opponent, in fact i was very impressed how he dealt with fast fighter's like Mosley and Judah, i think Mayweather will win but it won't be easy by any means.

I know Cotto will bring out the best in Floyd and will be a hard nights work, Danny and I just like taking the piss out of each other completly harmless. Behind all the shiit talk I know he has a respect for FLoyd and his skill just like I know Cotto is a great champion and competitior. Its our duty as fans to pick sides and have at it. the reality of it all is at the end of the day, this fight does nothing to make any of us any more money ar pay our mortgages or bills anyway. We root, put up a convincing argument and at the end of the day the best man wins ;)

As far as Cotto's speed I know it is well, but Shane is a quick fighter in terms of hand speed, Floyd is quick on foot and at hand and hits you at different angles, not to mention probabaly the best eveR to transition from defense to offense, as fast as Cotto is Floyd will make look slow and frustrate him. All Floyd fights are the same the last 3/4 of the fight Floyd has his opponent stalking him like a zombie who is gunshy while getting potshotted to death.It happens 99% of the time, because they realize when they throw a punch a vicious counter is coming back right on the money.

But it was perfectly fine for him to fight his style against Castillo? hmm double standards

Cortez was inconsistent. We knew it wod be a wide points win for PBF or a Hatton KO. I was shocked by the Floyd KO tbh. Hatton was given the wrong Idea by Corez. If it was reffed like he did in the Castillo fght, there is no way Mayweather would have KOed Hatton.
The attempted punch behind the head was a fair deduction, he tried to hit him and missed, but he still tried.
As for use of the elbow, pushing it into the face of an opponent who has a cut above the eyebrow is highly suspect and considering he was warned between rounds and still did it is poor by the ref.
Also, ducking so low and turning your back is plain dangerous.

Did it affect the outcome of the fight? Yes, Hatton would not have been frustrated and gotten KOed and my brother would have won £200 lol

Am I wrong on this but it seemed to me that Cortez was completely inconsistent - he didnt allow in-fighting/hugging/close work in rounds 1-4, but then after that he allowed it - how stupid is that !

Cortez actions had no impact on the fight. Hatton's dad could of ref the fight and Ricky still would of got knocked the fuck out

it was a strange performance by the ref , Cortez usually is very good that is a red flag right there ! .. Cortez left question marks in my mind. Something fishy about all that momentum breaking for no reason . I am of the opinion that Hatton was not going to be allowed to win that match no matter what. It just wasn’t in the script, had Hatton knocked Mayweather down, I believe that Cortez would have taking another point away from Hatton for something, you could sense it. the whole front row stood up " Cortez get out of the match already " I believe that Cotrtez’s interference was partially to blame for Hatton getting cut in the 3rd. Clearly flagrant abuse by the refer . It got Hatton off his game, fucked with his head, . Also funny how Floyd went out and gave Cortez a big ole hug and kiss after the match. yeah Boi

I gave Hatton 1st, 2nd & 5th. I'm a big Hatton fan but I agree with the 8th being a 10-8 round, the 6th was a 10-8 because of the point deduction and Hatton didn't look like winning another round tbh.
