I would love this fight to happen but Witters people talking to Hattons people does not mean much. They could be begging for a shot for all we know as opposed to negotiating.

I think Witter's people are talking to Hatton's people in the same way that Clinton Woods' people are talking to Calzaghe's people.

HBO are desperate to show Ricky's next fight, but almost certainly not that desperate. I just can't see it happening.

There was nothing from Hatton it was all Witter doing the talking trying to get the fight. Good luck to him but i believe he needs one more title to tempt a Hatton fight, he should call out Rees or Torres or PM!

Paulie is good but lets be honest, Witter has beaten better names than Paulie has. Witter is more deserving of his shot than Paulie is.

You know even if Hatton had managed to beat Mayweather , ive always had the feeling that Witter has the style to beat Hatton , the last time i had that feeling was when Lloyd Honeyghan fought Marlon Starling , i just knew that Starlings style was all wrong for Lloyd , and i feel the same with Witter, hope im wrong tho as i think Witter is a total knob :)

He will give Hatton a good run, he has good power as well. But he has got what Floyd had and that was just that natural amazing boxing skill and the evasion of punches etc. He knocked Harris out but if Colin Lynes can really push him and was unlucky to loose, I think Hatton can do it, the fan base would really intemedate him as well because I dont think Witter has ever had that before, such a vocal crowd against him.The crowd does help as well, you ask any liverpool football player that !

I think it depends how positive Witter fought. If he was aggressive and really put on his best show I reckon he could not only beat Hatton but knock him out as well.

If he got negative and over cautious though as he is prone to do he could well be outworked and may even stink the place out with a really negative showing.

But I think being a world champ himself and destroying Harris as impressively as he did will have given him confidence. There will be big question marks regarding Ricky Hatton now as well so I think Witter comes in confident and beats Hatton up.

I dont see this happening to be honest. Harris was a has been, he got KTFO by Maussa and hasnt done a lot since then. Witter is good but he doesnt have the agressivness to him like Ricky does, i would think RH would be able to outwork him and stop him with a body shot. Witters best bet would be to stay on the outside because he would never have felt power like Rickys. Hattons chin is good as well.

Hatton is an HBO fighter, Witter fights in front of crowds of 1000 in Doncaster. Americans remember him (if at all) for stinking the place out against Zab. HBO will not be interested.

Fights not featuring an American don't make money for HBO, even when both guys are champions and unbeaten (see Calzaghe-Kessler.)
