Cortez did it for his Country and his Job
he didnt have to get paid to take off a point from hatton.
nor did he get paid to NOT warn or deduct mayweather for crazy elbows all night long.
he did it for his country, his job, and his family.
he wants the boxing legend to be an American thus making boxing bigger in america which in turn gives cortez more opportunities.
mayweather won, but i still have a nagging feeling in the back of my head of what and if...

Re: Cortez did it for his Country and his Job
I really don't understand what the problem is with Cortez.
I mean honestly I ain't a PBF fan nore Am I a Hatton fan. I could see that early in the fight he was quick on the go in seperating them but still that could have happened with any ref......
As I've been reading all this Cortez things that the Hatton fans and Anti-PBF people have posted suddenly Cortez is the new Steele.
How or why I have no idea? :(

Re: Cortez did it for his Country and his Job
another thing,
cortez knows hatton does all his work on the inside and it's clear as day that cortez wouldnt allow anything to go on in the inside during the early rounds. once mayweather got his groove, he then let the fight flow naturally.
even the commentators were saying that cortez wasnt letting hatton do his thing.
yes these are excuses for hatton but VERY LEGIT excuses.

Why?
For deducting a point, when he clearly told BOTH in the dressing room "It will be up to my discretion whether I deduct a point or give out a warning for any penalties committed" - Cortez dressing room instructions.

The dominant male "Gorilla" in the jungle is usually called a silverback because of the color of its hair going up and down its back.

That's cuz Hatton got knocked the fuck out and they need something to blame it on.

What IF Hatton had better defense? What IF Floyd wasn't so fast? What IF Hatton did not get caught with the hook? What IF Hatton did not foolishly persue a fight with Floyd

You forget: what if Hatton hadn't of run into the post? If, if, if. I thought Cortez was a bit jumpy in the 1st rounds. But you know what. I think he saved Hatton from an earlier ko TBH. If he would have let him fight his style he might have gotten ktfo in the 7th or 8th like I predicted >:mad

i like joe cortez hes probably my favorite ref

Re: Cortez did it for his Country and his Job
if you see at the end of the fight PBF poses with Cortez for a pic and if you look carefully Cortez lifts PBF's arm from around his shoulder like: 1) he thinks PBF arm was too nasty and sweaty 2) he didnt want to appear to be biased toward favoring PBF
;D

Re: Cortez did it for his Country and his Job
if it was crooked in any way it was a result of the bets placed on hatton, the shadyness out of nevada tends to be aimed at the fighter whose win will lose more money for the casinos

when floyd went into the ropes he should have got a count. As only the ropes kept him up there for it should have been ruled a knock down. Just like holyfield v cooper.

Re: Cortez did it for his Country and his Job
I agree, and then Rick would have only lost by 10th round KO rather than.....urrmmm...

This bout was SKY TV'S biggest grossing fight taking £60 million that $120 million dollars (the previous best fror SKY was Lewis Tyson which took £48 million). then theres what HBO took. Hatton getting $40 million is not unrealistic. The fight was shown in approximately 120 countries worldwide.

Its true VD..he is looking at around 40 million dollars because his father, Ray made sure they would keep the UK TV earnings..or something of that nature was part of their deal.

Don't make me laugh Hatton hit Mayweather on the back of the head x2 and Mayweather fell forward onto the ropes how in the hell should that have been counted as a knockdown ?? it was nothing like Cooper vs Holyfield, first off Cooper got Holyfield in big trouble with a hard right hand that badly shook Holyfield then Cooper was pounding Holyfield on the ropes Holyfield tried to get away and Cooper hit Holyfield on the side of the temple if i remember right, Holyfield held onto the ropes to stop himself from going down, its nothing like Mayweather vs Hatton so stop being so damn biased.

Not really,Floyd was killing Hatton on the inside with those uppercuts,he let Ricky fight Ricky's fight, and he still was better at it
Enough with whining about Cortez
