It's a non-title fight because they are fighting at 166
sorry, will we see a trilogy for the titles?'
Probably not because Pavlik is going to lay Taylor out again...Quote:

No the 3rd fight will be at Supermiddleweight.Quote:

It's not for a title because JT's camp put a stupid clause that called for a rematch at 166 with the belt not being on the line, obviously.
I guess Taylor's fighting to beat the only guy who ko'd him and obviously it was so much fun he wants to do it again ;D If Taylor loses, and Pavlik moves up to 168, well, like PSPW said, the "trilogy" will take place there unless JT says the hell with that and retires
When Pav sparks him out again there wont be a 3rd fight. ;)
My thoughts exactly :)Quote:

I've said it since this fight was announced, I would love to see this become a trilogy but Pavlik is not going to lose to Taylor.Quote:

I cant see much for Taylor should he get tuned up by Pavlik again. That type of brutal KO can haunt a guy for a long time.
I am Not a fan of Taylors,IMO he lost first Hopkins fight and looked feeble vs.Spinks...mentally and physically but one thing cannot be denied,He had Pavlik ready to be put to rest in 1st fight.Had he been a clean and Collected finisher, very well might still be champ. Yeh I know,Hindsight is 20/20 but I think Pavlik needs to tighten up on defense.
I still think Pavlik repeats KO,only earlier 2nd time around.
No hate coming from me; I've always had Taylor as a favorite of mine. But I got a little irritated with all that degrading of Pavlik that not only Taylor and Manny were spewing, but also Miranda, basically relegating Pavlik as a joke and walk in the park. So I'm still reveling in his win over both; tough I am still a fan of Pantera and Taylor.Quote:

He also got immediately back up and went right back into the lion's mouth and gave him every chance from then till the end of the fight to put him down again. Didn't happen. All respect Lyle :)
.......he got away with that round, had he been caught like that again the fight would have been over
Jermain Taylor just hasn't put together his entire fight game....his offense, defense, footwork, etc don't match....he wants distance with his offense using the jab and his footwork (or lack there of) only allows for close fighting, and his defense is just horrible
He got away with that round? Taylor had 2+ minutes to finish him, and Pavlik may or may not have gotten finished if Taylor did it again. Hell, he was given every chance to do it the rest of the 2nd round and every one after that. And I'm sure Pavlik hasn't put his entire fight game together either. Taylor better have his together though for the next fight or it's good night.Quote:

JT also feels that the weight will work to his advantage and if he can even things out against Pavs then people will consider not riding his ass off.Quote:

Taylor has not dodged or ducked anyone and he loses ONCE, TO THE BEST COMPETITION IN THE DIVISION and here comes the hate parade and I know it's not just you, but it makes me fucking sick because it happens all the time....same deal with Hatton.
Jermain Taylor fought the best guy out there, go beat and there is no shame in how he got beat! He didn't run, he didn't hide, he didn't make any excuses!
Where is people's respect for a FIGHTER? Maybe he got the benefit of the doubt from the judges vs Winky or Hopkins or whoever....but he didn't complain, he didn't make excuses, and he didn't really take a break in competition.....sure people talk about Spinks but hey he's a decent fighter and he has a very awkward style....Ouma is just all heart and everyone knew that and yeah he should have put on better showings vs those guys.
People might not like Jermain's personality and that's fine but I fucking dare anyone to not respect him as a fighter...he stepped up and has fought the best....what more do you want out of a fighter? People might give me some smart ass replies but they can just fuck off because I don't buy any of this "I hate Jermain" bullshit......I am probably the biggest hater of Floyd Mayweather Jr in the world but I respect his skill and I respect him when he truly fights like he did vs Hatton.
Actually my respect for Jermain went up dramatically during the Pavlik fight. He showed a true warrior spirit. Props to him.
I also give him a good chance in the rematch. I know he can reach Pavlik and Kelly does take a lot of return punishment in each and every fight. Both of them get hit a lot and for that reason, both are fighting on borrowed time.
If it ends early, it's Jermain's fight. If it ends after 5th round, it is Kelly's simply because Jermain will panic once he starts to get tired again. It will not go the distance.
I predict it's Kelly's fight again as he is still riding high from the first one. I wish Taylor would have fought a tuneup fight before this as he could work out possible confidence and stamina issues as well as try out new things. If he did that, I would make it an even odds fight.
I cannot see how anyone could hate Jermain. He has always come across as a nice fellow actually and showed respect to everyone he has fought. He is a gracious winner and loser, a true gentleman.
I am kinda hoping the last fight kicked him in the ass enough to really, and I mean really motivate him. We just may see a totally different fight than the last one. If he gets hungry again, I am not sure if Pavlik can hold him back.
I just cool clicked you..I can't remember a time i've agreed with you Lyle but that is some strong stuff that I couldn't have worded better myself. About time somebody showed some appreciation for JT. He prised the undisputed title off of a middleweight legend and has defended it against everyone who's everyone. How the fuck can people hate him? He is good for boxingQuote:

Look how Taylor won those titles against Hopkins. Many including myself, felt Hopkins was cheated. IMO, to be the man, you have to beat the man and Taylor, again IMO did not beat Hopkins. B-Hop said phuk it and moved up and out and now Taylor is gonna get chased out of the MWD right into B-Hop's lap. ;D I love it. I would not mind seeing B-Hop/Taylor III @ 168.
Taylor is going to get SPARKED again

Just like the Conyers v. Kirkland fight; just take a look at how each person responded to being put down.... No way Taylor can withstand Pavlik. For that matter no one at Mwt can withstand Pavlik. That's why he hasn't gone the distance in almost four years.
As for the 2nd, Taylor hit him clean and even followed up with forearms (check the vid), and he still couldn't put Pavlik down for more than a few seconds.
Pavlik is the TRUTH... I agree he is not the fastest, but he won't quit. Taylor (as I have been saying) got lucky breaks on decisions that should have gone against him. Without the cards, he is a dead duck.
IMO he keeps the belts as long as he stays at Mwt. Duddy and A.Lee are joke opponents; Abraham would be a big draw for either side of the Atlantic.
I had to laugh when i saw this post. "Let him off the hook?"Quote:

Let me tell you brother.. that guy has gone under the radar as faras a real warrior goes.. damn

Call me stupid but i pick Taylor to win.Quote:

I'm going for Taylor. This is his last chance for me.
Last chance???? So he would have 2 losses and he should retire????
Do you know how many all-time great fighters have more than 2 losses on their records???? RAY FUCKING ROBINSON had more than 2 losses....ALI had more than 2 losses!!!
Anyone who thinks Jermain Taylor is finished with boxing EVEN IF HE DID LOSE TO PAVLIK is a fucking moron....I'm sorry to put it that bluntly but I'm sick of hearing this shit....I'm not trying to say JT is the greatest of all-time but he deserves some respect!
Jermain Taylor killed himself making 160 (as has Pavlik) but I think with his size he can move all the way up to 175 if need be. Can't people just accept the fact that it was a good fight and give both fighters respect no matter who they are a fan of? And hell you have to give it to Jermain he's not backing down he is getting a rematch and props to Pavlik to giving it to him.
Yes, I do believe this is his last chance with the mainstream media. Taylor has only 12 loss but his fights leading upto the Pavlik fight were as detrimental to his appeal as losses to other fighters. In fact winning as he did against Spinks didn't draw near as much credit as a loss against Pavlik did. So yes, I feel this is a win is necessitated to fulfil his potential and become one of the most popular fighters in the world.Quote:

I think what they mean is if he's owned again by Pavlik, his stock with the elite might not be recoverable. If he loses in a close fight that goes late on, and shows some improvement at the new weight, he'll still have a future with the elite. If he wins of course he'll rocket higher up than when he was before the first fight.Quote:

Spot on there Bomp.
They dont need a title. and plus a certain MR CALZAGHE seems to have all the titles and neither of these two want to go anywhere near him.Quote:

Pavlik did look silly; trying to make giggly faces. JT looked even sillier not being able to finish Pavlik off with a freebie given to him. Notice how he never even came close to putting Pavlik down again. Oh that's right, he was weight drained. Well, it will be interesting to see how he approaches the rematch with the only guy to put him and keep him down. He'll freeze up and get lit up again.Quote:
