Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...972614,00.html
"I've got positives to take from the fight but ultimately I'm very, very disappointed - however like any good champion I will bounce back".
"My best attribute is that I am fearless. I think that it was working and up until the sixth-round stage, I think there wasn't a lot in it".
I am one of the biggest Hatton fans on here but what on earth is he thinking?? he had his chnace and lost so Ricky now neads to clean up light welter son and forget fighting at welterweight any more and forget about Mayweather.

Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
For one Mayweather won't rematch him, as he ktfo Hatton. If Floyd rematches Hatton it will look like Floyd is all about money. He needs to fight Cotto or Williams.
Hatton doesn't want a rematch, as he'll get beat up again. I love Ricky but I think he hit his head too hard if he thinks he can stay at WW and challenge Floyd again, or any of the top WW's. He needs to stay at 140 and dominate there if he can, and be happy with that.

Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Rematch is not gonna happen. No need.

Totally agree LEGION and in a rematch I think Floyd will bust him up worse.
CC number 4 by the way. ;D

Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
We Rick If you wanna rematch him I'm behind you, but I reckon you need a couple of fights under your belt before you start making too much noise again.
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Rematching Mayweather again would end his career, don't be a fool Hatton get your ass back down to Jr Welterweight.
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Floyd would win this fight again and I think would be over even quicker if a rematch were to happen cos Floyd has him figured out now...I belive Hatton can only fight one way where Floyd can box where it be defence or offence....Floyd would beat hatton no probs again i really belive he is a living legend maybe one of the best to ever step in a ring...If he goes on to win more big fights he will be up there with any of them....I watched the Hatton fight again and when watched it a second time it was even more clear that Mayweather was in a different league, you feel he could of steped it up a few more gears if he wanted...
I think from the third round on Mayweather could of took him out at anytime.

I agree. Rick needs to get a couple under his belt first. I cannot see a rematch happening unless Hatton is able to make a serious statement and to do that he needs to do some work.
Maybe Ricky will be a driven man now, but I dont know.

Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
I certainly hope so! And it's not out of the question, but actions speak louder than words and certainly louder than my typed words on an internet forum!!!
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Ricky could deffinitly have done a whole lot better, 2 things he would nneed to do, actualy get out the way of the right hand, one way would be to hold with his left instead of his right, taking away Floyds right hand and if Floyd did break out he would have to reset to throw it, also, actualy throw some shots when Floyd is against the ropes, take a step back and throw 3 or 4 then barge back in
If Ricky couldnt win 2 big fights impressive no one would be interested anyway and if he actualy did get a rematch then he would have to get his tactics spot on from the first bell or I agree it will only be a matter of a few rounds in the rematch

Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Rematches for a challlenger who are are beaten in the manner Hatton was don't happen do they ?? I certainly can't remember any in recent years.
I wasn't going to mention this but I was talking to a guy in the queue for the toilets on the plane on the way over (cue the jibes :)!) who was telling me who he worked for some Arabian company or other who had already tabled big money to back a rematch in the UK. He had free ringside seats for the fight.
I thought he was just some nutter (and maybe he was) but when Mayweather mentioned he'd love to fight in the UK in the post fight interview it got me wondering. And now this......
Of course it may all be nonsense but just thought I would share it with you ;). You never know :-\

It's probably a safe bet that if someone calls themself "money" they're all about the money.

Joe Calzaghe vs Mario Veit :)
True - forgot about that one . Remember thinking at the time how ludicrous that was.
Any others ?? :)

Robert Allen vs Bernard Hopkins 3rd fight pointless.

Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
To be fair it was four years previous that Calzaghe hammered him and he did work his way back up so it wasnt a 'rematch' in the truest sense.

Cheers Memphis - that's what I meant IMMEDIATE REMATCHES !!!
;D ;D ;D ;D :) ;)
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Calzaghe got his biggest ever payday at the time for the Veit rematch
Only a fucking moron would say no to a career high payday against someone they caned in 1 round previous.

Ok how about Robinson vs Carl *Bobo* Olson, Robinson KO him in 2, then rematched him straight away then KO him in 4.
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
If Hatton wants a rematch, then he must still be groggy from that left hook and not thinking clearly.
If Hatton wants to win, he'll move back to 140 immediately. If he wants to get KO'd again, he'll stay at 147.

To be fair to Veit he comeback well, he went on 15 winning steak and beat Salem, Brewer, not too shabby.

Yeah but it was still a shit match for Calzaghe, so much so, Brit TV didn't buy it.
BUT as your hero constantly says - "If it makes dollars, it makes sense." ;)

Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
Just read on telextext that Ricky Hatton is targeting a rematch with Mayweather but has also stated that he has options at 140.
I stated in a thread the other day that i knew Ricky wouldnt be able to let this lie with mayweather...
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
If a fight with PBF could be made at 140, i'd say go for it. Make it his final fight win or lose and he gets a big payday with a remote chance of avenging that defeat. 150lb against Oscar would be suicide.
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
No thanks ricky great fight and effort but, i wouldn't want to see him or oscar fight him again. There are other fights out there for all three of these guys.
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
there's still something bugging me about the fight i just dont think ricky did the job he could of..
not taking anything away from him but i think he feels himself that he could of fought better, it would have to be his perfect fight to beat Mayweather though
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
Mayweather would beat Hatton more handily in a rematch. Mayweather has shown a greater ability to adjust than Hatton. The reason for Hatton's success is because he's really good at one gear and most opponents haven't been able to deal with that kind of pressure. In a sequel Mayweather would see everything coming a mile away and he and the turnbuckle would play patty-cake with his head.
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
It's funny because after people fight Floyd they say I think I could have done this or that better, and want a rematch. Maybe they should have figured out what they could have done differently before the 1st fight in case their plan A failed. Plan B usually won't work either, and by the time Plan C is being thought of the fight is usually over{if they ever had a Plan C}.
This is why fighters and trainers have months to figure this out. Hatton should have spent more time working on boxing and head movement in camp than punching that Fat Albert body suit  I love Ricky, one of my favorite fighters, but he chose the wrong guy to pick a fight with. I think he'll have his hands full with Paulie at 140 :-\

Most of Ricky's inability in the Mayweather fight was not due to what Hatton was doing wrong. It was more of what Mayweather was doing right. Mayweather knew Hatton was coming after him to dig punches inside, so he made his inside defense tight and countered him coming in.

Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
Does anyone think a rematch at 140 might be different, or will mayweather not drop to 140???
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
There's no reason a rematch at any weight would be different, and (outside of some members of this forum, apparently) Floyd would get massively criticized for taking a rematch against Hatton rather than fighting Cotto or any of at least 10 other people who are more deserving of a shot. Hatton had his chance and got outclassed. End of.
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Mayweather would get shat on by every boxing commentator out there if he gave Hatton another shot instead of someone far more deserving. Maybe if Hatton beats Cotto and Williams first, but obviously that's not happening.

There's no reason to drop down to 140 for PBF, the $ is at 147.
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
What fuck! for? ???
Other then $$$
-
Re: Hatton targets Mayweather rematch!!!
think mayweather may take on cotto then retire.i think ricky should have one fight before going for a title fight again and i would then like to see him also retire and enjoy his wealth.
-
Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
There will be no rematch for the Fatboy! The fight was not close and PBF has Cotto, Williams and possibly Margarito to deal with. Hatton will go back to 140lb and fight Witter, Malignaggi and whoever else wants to be beaten by him, Hatton should remain a 140lb champ for at least two more years.

Re: Ricky Hatton keen on PBF rematch........
Thanks for the replys, jus a few other comments bwt the fight with floyd do any other ppl agree tht the referee got involved to soon or was hatton workin within too smaller quarters to really hurt floyd, or is it tht floyds defense is really to good to crack? as they was alot of pre fight talk tht the mayweather camp called hatton a grapler and was just wunderin if this affected the referees actions?
