Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
on another site
So I guess this is assuming he beats JMM ??? David Diaz at 135 in Macau in July, then Ricky Hatton in Dubai in November. Why the foreign locations, I don't know, except that Arum says something about a friend opening up a big casino there and wanting to open it up with a huge fight.
I wish the David was replaced with Juan but I don't know, thoughts?
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Interesting fight for sure. I personally don't think he'll beat JMM. And yes, I'd rather see Pac fight Juan than David. Actually I want Juan to fight David and then go fight Pacman. I think Juan beats Hatton, Pac, and definately David.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
I still haven't made a pick, I think Pac has improved more, he was pretty much just a jab-left hand fighter in that fight and he's added a better right hook. He was really basic in that fight, even compared to the Barrera fight where he used the right hand, went to the body. Maybe the first round played into it, when he had so much success with the left hand.
And JMM's easier to hit now, although better offensively. He was really getting hit by some left hands against Terdsak, made me think about a Pac fight.
Might be leaning towards Pac actually, gonna rewatch some of their fights before the rematch.
I would rather he just stick at lightweight and fight Juan Diaz but the risk/reward, mainly the risk, in that one is a bitch. Hatton is a bigger money fight so I'm not in the least surprised by Arum wanting that fight more.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Pac would be an absolute LEGEND if he moved to 140 and beat Hatton. Cant see it happening tho. I think Ricky Bullys him around the ring and stops him.

Man if Pac{who is great, no doubt} moved up and beat Hatton, THAT would ruin Ricky mentally. He would retire after that. Would be a frenzied fight, but I still as of now would have to pick Hatton to win.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Loving PAC he's a crazy Fuck. Love the heart even at his top status he is willing to Fight anyones even if the are much bigger than him.
he is may P4P as it is

Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
This figtht sounds crazy, but at least all those talks of pac ducking so and so is put to rest.

Hate to say this but I think so too. :-\ Going up two weight class in just few months is just too much, considering that he started out as a flyweight.
As for the fight, I think pac should fight him just a he fought Marco in the rematch but be more aggressive whenever he sees the chance. Being a bully - a real tough one no doubt - Hatton would be wide open for good countering. The best way I think is for pac to engage in an counter-retreat offense whenever Hatton attacks. He has no need to initiate the offense as Hatton would be coming at his platter, so to speak, and all he needs to do is to pound him hard and then retreat every time Hatton charges in and try to frustrate him. Pac should go for an all out attack only when he thinks he got him, but at the same time be ready to retreat again when it fails. I think combination of good countering and smart offense is the key for pac to win. I really doubt pac can knock Hatton out, but again, I hate to admit - Hatton can. :'( But to give credit to my boy, at least he showed a refreshingly new style in the Barrera rematch - he outboxed and totally dominated Marco more than Marquez did, I think punch-stat should bear that out. If you guys have any doubt watch it again. He didn't just counter there. He initiated the attack and waited for Marco to counter and stepped back a bit just enough to evade it and then countered aggressively - as strange as it may sound, he countered the counter. His quick feet played an important role there. Marco fell into his trap most of that fight. What he did with Juarez, he couldn't do with pac because of his speed - both in hands and feet. With Hatton, I think he shouldn't initiate the offense though, but just wait for him to come in. Sounds more easy than done...
...If you ask me, I'd rather him clean up the super-featherweight division and retire.

Exactly. Would be a lose/lose situation for Ricky, if he doesn't blow him away.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
i believe marquez beats him.
and pac fighting hatton ??? haha hatton wins
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Well, Well, Well.
Wow is all I can say.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Hatton will beat Pacquiao and stop him in 10, you got to admire Hatton fighting P4P number 1 then fighting P4P number 2 i don't think i've ever seen a boxer fight P4P number 1 and 2 so quickly.

Actually it's win win for Ricky. If he beats Manny then his fans will say he's the best British fighter ever and if he loses they will say it doesn't matter because Manny is a southpaw and Ricky never does well against southpaws, as if that makes it perfectly ok to lose with no loss of status whatsoever. ::**
Oh and they'll probably invent a new excuse and say Ricky has never done well against smaller guys or guys from Asia with big calves.
Trust me Ricky has nothing to lose, certainly not pride, that all went with a check hook last weekend. ;D
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Althought I'm not as harsh as Bil,I see it as having a "win" side to it for Hatton, namely the $$$. The fight would be mega hyped! I'd think Htton at 140 would destroy Manny though, way too big and strong.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
For me, it just illustrates the money hungry side of boxing. Just as irrrelevant as De la Hoya Hatton. Only difference Ricky's chances of winning are greatly increased for similar money.

Totally agree, well said,CC. If it was a non-Hatton fan saying that, they would have been deemed a hater,so I'm glad it came from you. :) :D

Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Agapito Sanchez gave Pacquiao hell and Pacquiao looked like he wanted to quit with the rough dirty style of fighting. But what is he going to do when he is in there with a man much bigger and stronger than he is :)

Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Maybe a little harsh Bilbo ;D
Would it really do much for his legacy, beating a 130 pounder who had just moved up to 135. Even if he's grown into the weight, which him weighing 144 fightnight shows, those who want to bash Hatton will simply say that he beat a guy who started his career at 108 pounds.

Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Imagine If Hatton lost :-X :o
Pac fans would be unbearable.
Anti-Ricky guys would go into diabetic-like comas and VD would most likely blow the load.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
;D
Great match-up for Ricky.
Hatton would batter him to fuck in 2 rounds.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
I rekon if it was going to happen in Nov, there would have been something said about it in England. Hatton has mentioned the name Manny Pac once. So it seems a bit odd really, I think its a bit too much for the Pac man. He should stay where he is and fight and beat JMM,Guzman and co.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
thats my bwoy, he fights anybody all them hater that said pac ducks fighters were quick to put to silent. This isn't even a big suprise though. There was already talks of pac fighting oscar as oscars last fight on september 2008.
Funny the remaining hopeless pac oppenents are already getting look past by goldenboy and top rank. They are already setting pac up with a huge mega fight at the end of 2008.
Say what ever them doubters want to say but pac is gonna finish off jmm then take either david or juan maybe even boths title then move up again to fight hatton or oscar.
This could mean pac is going to face winner of hatton vs oscar.
Pac is already a legend but this is really pushing it even if he loses, he'll gone up about 10 division by the time he retires. who has done that? from 106 to 140? maybe even more shyt that is crazy.
Pac undisputed p4p king by the end of 2008!!!!!!!
Legend in the making and still writing itself.
-
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
I don't see why they're even proposing this yet as Ricky must face someone at Light Welter first (Witter/Paulie) and Pac must hope to win against JMM and someone at Light Weight....Thats a big ask

it would actually be a lose lose or yet a win win for v.d, cause he'll be able to talk trash about hatton fans and pac fans whom ever lose. he ain't a fan of either one ya know ;)

Love to see Pac beat JMM, Diaz and Ricky beat Junior Witter and then both of them going at it for a shot at Juan.

pac beat sanhez pretty bad, he just kept trying to get even by being dirty as hell. pac should of won that fight, and pac did not want to quit. your exagerrating another fact about pac. he got off the canvas from a dozen low blows and was piss as fwock. what do you know about balls ice, even when a dirty bastard kept hitting you there you get up to whoop him. pac should of won that fight it shouldn't have been a draw.
what are you talking about ice, pac often fights guys bigger then him. look how many times he moves up and goes straight to the best and biggest in that new division. i remember your one of the guys that use to say eric was too big/tall and pac was not going to carry his power or speed any further. i know 140 is prolly a lot different but your really showing your age with your pac posts. silly

I think Mayweather has already ruined Hatton mentally. And I don't see Pacquiao beating Marquez. So Pacquiao-Hatton won't happen

The only one who is showing there immature is you, anytime anyone says anything negative about Pacquiao you go into defensive mode like someone has disrespected your own family. If you can't allow anyone to say anything negative about your boy without acting like this then you aren't proper fan of Pacquiao's.

Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
I don't think Pacquaio starting his career at 106 means anything because he was 17. I think his power will come with him enough of a degree along with his speed of foot and hands that he will be deadly even at 140, as he becomes a better defensive fighter, and a more complete boxer he will be able to use his skill along with his superior speed to beat some of these bigger guys, people forget that he is heavier at 130 than Mayweather ever was at lightweight and look how well Mayweather has moved up not just because of his skills but also physically he hasn't been blown out of the water by anyone in terms of strength, and Pacquaio is probably stronger than Mayweather was at 130, he definitely hits harder. At 130 at the top level which is when a lot of people lose that high KO% he went 6(4)-1, and he had one of those guys he took the full distance down 3 times, He ko/tko'ed the only guy who beat him twice, and the other guy was Barrera who he out boxed.

Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"

dishearten maybe, but there saying he wanted to quit is what a hater would say. look at him pump his gloves together like he wanted to just take sanchez head of. He even lick his own blood off. Anybody getting fouled as much as pac was in that fight would of beg for a d.q and cried about it throughout the fight. Not pac though, he even insist to continue without being a dirty cheater like the likes of sanchez. He kept his good sportsmanship, something pac has always had.
i remember your one of the guys that use to say eric was too big/tall and pac was not going to carry his power or speed any further.

you damn right kiddo, thats what i do. Pac is my favorite fighter and anybody that got somethings stupid or twisted to say about what pac is about is for sure to hear from me. wtf you talking about ain't proper fan of pac? And yes pac is family to me.
you know its funny, you try to pick apart post and highlight them in bold. Thinking you going to come up with "outstanding replies" boy you aint cutmemick!!!
you can try to catch the guys with high post count but your quality still ain't as good as them. I feel bad telling you that but maybe it'll do you some good kid ;)
