Spam from Saddo?

I've been a member for some time now and I thoroughly enjoy the topics and posts in this community. One thing however, threw me for a loop and that was when I received a typical Nigerian Scam email..What shocked me was when the user stated they got my email from www.saddoboxing.com as stated in the pasted copy of the email below:

Please feel free to flood the HELL OUT OF THIS address!

My question is, is Saddo aware of this happening where there users email addresses are being accessed by Nigerian Spammers?

I've never received anything like that nor have a got anything to my aim which I have showing when you click member details

I received one quite awhile back and I believe Bilbo did too. I'm not entirely sure it was from Saddo's or the Hatton forum.

I'm pretty certain that this email didn't come from Saddo's at all, but from some dude who probably went through the members list looking for those with visible email addresses.

I just checked the list sanchez, and yours is listed as visible to the public. For example, if you look yourself up on the members list, you'll see a little envelope next to your name.

In order to switch this off, go to your profile and account related settings (or summat like that) and there'll be an opption to hide email address from the public. And bingo, you can no longer see your email address.

nah mate its not from me... i get spam from me everyday ??? :-\ ???

what they do is have really sofisticated programs that hit google for a search term than spider all the sites that come up with that search term collecting emails.

and this one might have even kept which site they found the email and automatically added it to there email which they send out in the millions.

some of these spammers are getting really clever once i was reading an article about a boxer then a had my email program on and in one of the subjets lines was the boxers name i had in my browser.

still not sure how they got your email as i have your email blocked from the spiders in your profile and on the members list so i can only imagine you have posted your email somewhere on this board or online for tham to have spidered it ;)

If your e-mail is on your profile then anyone can get it....Many spammers get them that way....

I do too, but they usually start with something like: "Blonde teen nailed by monster cock" so I have to open every single one :-\

I called authorties once but they said since his e-mail is a general on (yahoo or Google) it is impossible to trace

Ok, I've never really understand these spammers. What are the benefits of spamming? Why do they send out virus to random people, are they nerdgeeks out for vengences to us cool guys 8)

Whats the point of spamming? are they after our social security number or something? Do they make money off of this and how? can someone explain this to me. I just don't get these spammers.

As Rhun said, there are a percentage of people who fall for the attempts of these guys to get bank details etc. They do find people who are trusting/dumb enough to be exploited.

i used to wonder the same thing... the viruses that just mess up your computer not logging anything or dailing anything and have no porpus always makes me wonder if its the anti virus program makers sending them out to keep people buying.

kinda like a window replacer going around at night smashing windows ;)

another thing i wonder about is if its possible to have net-terrorist. like in the movie live free or die hard. :-\ and if ever aliens come to earth I imagine it would be so easy for them to know everything just by intercepting our worldwidenet....just like the movie transformer :(
