Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
I think I am going to be in the minority here but I am taking Tito in this fight. Don't get me wrong I know he's been away from the ring for a couple of years and will be rusty, but I just think Jones is too far gone. I still can't understand why this fight was made but I am a fan of boxing so I will watch it.

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Tito only wins if Roy's chin fails him.
End of story :)
Tito's only chance in hell of winning that fight is landing a huge shot on Roy's chin that has him stunned/and or knocked out.
And I'm not going to even attempt to entertain that Tito could win the match any other way. Thats why I probably won't get the fight because I really don't want Roy to be the one to lose to Tito of Hopkins and Wright who had their way with them.
If Roy the mot talented of them all lost to Tito and was the only one to..it would ruin this part of his legacy(not really because it would prove he's beyond shot but people would make it seem that way)

This in no way will ruin either fighters legacy, and let me tell you both fighters are already 1st ballot HOF

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
If Tito wins,I'd be shocked, and I'm saying this as a HUGE fan of both fighters. Tito was small at 160,RJJ must look monstrous at 170. I'm going for Roy by stoppage. He's still fast and surely has pop left. The only thing I can think of is that if RJJ comes in weight drained,Tito may win or if RJJ gets tagged, and hurt,he ay go into a shell and try to survive v Tito as he did v Tarver, which was fricking embaressing imo.

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
roys my all time fav and tito's in my top 5 but i can't for he life of me figured out how in the hell does roy figured this fight against an out of shape inactive WW at 170 will prepare him for a (however slim) possible fight with calzaghe

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Jones by TKO in the 11th.
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
I think Roy will win just because Tito has been inactive for too long.
But Like I told my brother yesterday, if I had some money I would put it on Tito given that he will probably be a huge underdog and he does have a good shot of winning. Roy's style will hurt him on this fight. He does'nt jab and he takes too much time off in the ring. His reflexes are not what they use to be and this will cost him if he keeps those hands low. If he is not carefull he might fall behind and maybe get caught with big shots when he tries to make up for it.
But it is Tito's inactivity and ring rust that will most likely save Jones from this happening. I've said it many times, the weight won't be a big problem for Tito. I would be more worried for Jones coming in weight drained given that he has not gone bellow 175 in over 10 years. Tito's power will still be there. It is false that he had no power at 160, his three wins there were by KO. The only question is, how long will it take him to shed all that ring rust? and will it be too late when he does?

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
for me to see Roy making 170 he has to be in super shape.
And a Roy Jones in Super Shape against a blown Tito. ::**
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Well I just can't see Tito carrying enough power up to 170.
Jones is still crafty even at this advanced age and he boxes very well off the back foot. This is ideal against the ever aggresive Trinidad and I feel that Roy may be able to potshot him (the days of 6-7 punch combos are gone!) on his way to a UD
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
I would think Jones by stoppage.
The only thing Tito's got going for him is that Jones doesn't have the legs to move for 12 rounds, that's why he just lays against the ropes so much. Maybe Tito can land something while he's up against the ropes, other than that I would think Jones has pretty much every advantage, bigger, faster, more active, on and on.

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Im hedging my bets here,Jones is spent, but is Tito?
He hasnt once looked like Tito since Hopkins ripped his guts out,he allways looks confused and afraid now.
Can he find his way back?
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
This is bad news for Tito.Unless Jones comes in completely deflated Tito may have a chance, but I am going with Jones by an easy decision.

That's fine but that was not the comment, he said Tito has not looked the same since Hopkins

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
I'll take Jones on points. In a less than exciting fight
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Jones Jr by UD in a ordinary fight.

Jones making 170 will be torture. He blamed his bad displays against Tarver and Johnson on being weight weakened. So why is he trying to make 170?

He was weight weakened having dropped the muscle he packed on to go to heavyweight. He won't have that problem now i think.

I still think it's gonna be a problem, though not as significant as before. Fighters should not go down in weight after they've spent much of their career at a higher weight, especially late in their career. Jones has not fought bellow 175 in over 10 years.

Typically I would agree Rookie fan, but with Jones, I feel his body is naturally about 166, he justs piles on a heap of muscle there.
So I reckon Jones will have no problems and come in in good shape (assuming his training camp goes well.)

Well let's hope both training camps go well and we get a good fight.
Actually, I think this fight is going to be a lot better than most think. Sure they are both past it and in many way this looks like a missmatch but I got a funny feeling that we are going to have ourselves a good fight.
After all, a passed it Roy Jones Jr and a passed it Felix Tito Trinidad is still better than most fighters out there.
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Yeah, thats true enough!
Since his offensive arsenal has faded Roy has taken to Boxing on the backfoot, Initially running into problems on the ropes (i.e against Tarver and Johnson) but he's adapted his style and now he's quite good at fighting on the ropes.
This style will mesh quite well with the eternally aggresive Trinidad. Tito is still Tito and he'll press forward as always searching only with bombs. He may catch Roy and Roy may catch Trinidad so it may also come down to heart, which will be interesting in itself.
I too am anticipating a good fight.

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Is this what they call an exibition fight?
Everyone gets to see a pair of modern boxing legends in the ring. Whilst you have dinner with the gf/wife.
I can't be called competitive can it?
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Very very easy fight for RJJ. Tito is a welterweight. Roy is a light heavyweight. This fight is an absolute mismatch. Tito will have zero power at 170. Roy will either knock him out or just win all 12 rounds. This is a joke of a fight.
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Jones by KO. Say what you want about diminishing skills, but Tito has him matched in that department when you factor in inactivity and a weight he doesn't belong at. Tito is going to look chunky, Roy will be ripped per usual. Remember Roy just fought and beat a good fighter in Anthony Hanshaw (who will be in the top ten SMW someday). Tito is going to realize he doesn't really want to fight at around the 7th and Roy will still have plenty enough gas to make things uncomfortable for him. Look for the "old" man to look young and the "young" man to look old.

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
I'd love to see the betting line for this. If it's anywhere near even, this is easy money.
Update: just checked, not close. Roy by KO is even. The overall result lines are 1/5 RJJ, 10/3 Tito. The market apparently agrees that this is a silly, non-competitive fight.

Where are those odds from because we have something different in Las Vegas

They were just the first thing I found googling "betting lines jones trinidad." What are the Vegas odds?

Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
The fight is going to SUCK....Either Roy dominates Tito and for the next 2 weeks after all that will be posted on the boards is how Roy beat a guy who is really a WW or Jr Middle and how it was already proven Tito should not be fighting up higher then that by the way he was beat by Hopkins...and it was really not Tito at his best because of the lay off...Blah Blah Blah
If Tito wins it will be about how Roy is way past his best and in his Prime he would have dominated Tito and Tito will lose to Hopkins again if they meet...OR it will be a bunch of post on how Tito wants Calzaghe.....OR 10,000 threads on "Tito is BACK"......
With that out of my system :-\
Unless Trinidad has added some serious muscle we don't know about IMO he is in trouble....He will try to be the aggressor and Roy will counter off the ropes.....and if Trinidad can not make Jones respect his power early I call it for Jones by Dec.....Not sure if Roy has the KO goods any more

Whilst i agree 90& Tito has been reported to have lifted a lot since "retiring"
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
The guy hasn't even been in the ring for 3 years.
It's a sure thing bet wise isn't it. Win for Jones could cost a lot to make a few dollars though. LOL

LOL. "His power." Tito will be completely feather-fisted at this weight. He's an old, fat welterweight. Period. It'll be like James Toney's "power" at HW.

I doubt Trinidad has any power to be feared at 170 myself but IMO that would be his best chance....Then again you never know...Hearns brought power with him a long way...Not all the guys at 175+ he KO'd were anything special but fact is he was a WW knocking out genuine LHWTS...so anything is possible
Trinidada will either be rusty as a barge brought up from the bottom of the ocean or...the lay off has him rejuvinated and ready to go at full force
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
HAHAHA you guys need to check out the BS site. There is a statment by the Trinidads making a big fuss on how Tito is already at 173 and he can make weight easy. Like if there was any doubt he would be able to make weight.
They are claiming he is in shape like he has not been sinse 99 or 2000. I'm a big fan of Tito and I'll be rooting for him come fight night. But can you believe all that s***.
-
Re: Can I get a sneak peak of your predictions for the Trinidad Vs Jones fight
Its hard for me to predict this one because Tito is a unknown at this point due to the layoff. I really would love to see him beat RJJ, but at this point I'd take RJJ just on the size/power factor.

Don't forget speed and skill. There is not a single category in which Tito is even competitive. This fight is a joke.

Not a single category in which Tito is even competitive? Come on it is not that one sided of a match.
Tito is defenatelly competitive in Power, Chin, Stamina, Experience, punch accuracy and work rate.
The lay off will kill him in the end though.
