Why does he think he can keep coming back into boxing and fighting the top guys and making top money he should earn his shot at guys like Mayweather,Cotto and Hatton he just wants money.He's past it now as are Mosely,Hopkins and Winky leave the fighting to the young big names is what i think.
You know I always thought Oscar was too smart to stay in boxing for longer then he should. Here I am in 2007 going into 2008 discussing him fighting. :( Sad, really I mean boxers almost never know when to say when. Theres only a handful who have been able to walk away and never look back.

IF and that's a huge IF he were to perform poorly in his next bout then I could def. see why you would want him to retire but as of today he has shown no signs as to why he should retire. IMO.
He has 20+ million reasons per fight not to retire.
That same past his prime De la Hoya just shattered the reccord for highest grossing fight in history.
And DLH is not to blame for this. There was a thread called something like DLH is a whore or something like that some months ago. Like I said in that thread. Always had massive respect for Oscar De La Hoya his opposition is some of the best i've ever seen. Even if you think he should have had more losses on his record he has fought the best, and you got to admire that, the man has won 6 world titles in 6 different weight classes he still has his legacy intact retire Oscar damn it.
With losses to Mosely twice,Trinidad,Hopkins and Mayweather can he afford anymore losses on his record.

Golden Boy Promotions yesterday released a statement saying they were chasing one of three fights for May 2008. Mayweather, Cotto or Hatton all smaller guys. Theres a thread about it.

Yes I do count them as smaller. Oscar is a tall Light Middleweight. Cotto and Mayweather are small Welters.

It won't. Ray Hatton yesterday said Ricky is a "shadow of himself" and he'll be fighting a "world ranked opponent" in one of two fights next year, possibly in Ireland.

Hopkins should retire. He has nothing left to prove, one more maybe.
Wright is in Limbo, but I feel a drop in weight before one final run will preceed retirtement.
Kessler just gave Joe Calzaghe his closest fight. Calzaghe is at the end of his reign leaving Kessler the heir apparent.
Taylor is set to rematch Pavlik his future will be clearer after that fight.
I never discredited De la Hoya. He was a great fighter in younger days. But nobody is under the illusion that he remains in the game for anything other than easy money.

No way PACMAN has a comparable quality of opposition to Oscar. DLH's opposition is just ridiculous all the top names he has there.

By beat, I mean the judges took a victory from Oscar. He boxed very well early and although he gave away the last rounds it was clear (to me at least) that he did enough.
However, as I've said before the judges made their decision and we must live with it.
Yes a loss is a loss but it also matters how you lose. Mosley beat him the first time, it was close but clear that Mosley won. Oscar beat Mosley the 2nd time, it was clear Oscar won. Mayweather beat him, not easily in any way...I still see DLH as the winner. Trinidad did NOT beat him, no way in hell! And the Hopkins fight shouldn't even play a role in his legacy since he was NOT going to beat Hopkins since Hopkins is clearly the bigger guy(same with Trinidad ). If anything, fighting Hopkins makes Oscar look great for 2 reasons:Quote:
