Why does Manny Steward have such a strong dislike for PBF?
Out of all the PBF haters, critics, closet fans, and columnist nobody is worse than Manny Steward. I was just watching the replay of the Hatton fight and Manny had nothing good to say about Floyd the whole fight even when Floyd took the fight over, as an announcer you should at least be nuetral when commentating a fight, this guy simply hates Mayweather and is not afraid to show it in public, it was disgusting behavior.

steward is a hater of all fighter that he does not train.
When steward isn't as good as a trainer as a boxer is a fighter, he dislikes them.

I believe even though Manny is a trainer, he is a true boxing fan like us. It is true he let his feelings show on air which is not a real professional thing to do as a commentator, but he may consider himself to be a fan first. I don't think he hates Mayweather, hell even the more vocal tirades against Mayweather on this forum are not done by haters, but by people who expect more from a fighter, claimed by the fighter and many others to be P4P best. It can be hard on a fan when they see so much potential going to waste. Their are so many dream fights Floyd could take but doesn't. It gets so frustrating seeing him pick opponents that many true boxing fans do not really care about. He did it in the past, he should be doing it now as the end of his career is probably not too far away.
There are a lot of fans, not just in these boards, but everywhere who want to see more from Floyd and are not convinced by his bout with Hatton. If you carry around the #1 P4P title, but have not beaten any of the other top guys in your current division, something is amiss. Nobody else at welterweight has done it either, but they avoid the criticism as they are not the #1 face in boxing. That is somewhat unfair to Floyd as it is a lot of weight to carry, and he gets all the criticism that really should be shared by all of them, as i don't see them clamoring to fight each other either.
Which is why the P4P rankings are a crock of shit basically. Most of the guys on the list have not even cleaned out their own divisions, yet get ranked. It really makes no sense. To be even considered as #1, you should at least be the undisputed champion of your division, not just the #1 draw in boxing.

Maybe I misunderstood you. But Roy did stop Clinton Woods and he stopped Griffin twice, they just decided to call the first one a DQ, cus Montell took a dive, so Roy stopped him in 1 the next time.

Maybe I misunderstood you. But Roy did stop Clinton Woods and he stopped Griffin twice, they just decided to call the first one a DQ, cus Montell took a dive, so Roy stopped him in 1 the next time.
what i meant to say is that other than those two, meaning he stopped them early montell in 1 and clinton is 6 i guess you can call that early...he stopped the rest of them late, because he had to wear them down first as they were too big.
So it might be a bit much to ask floyd to stand there and risk being hit by the bigger men and discredit him for not wanting to risk the fight, not to mention hurting his hands by banging them against the bigger men.
That might be why roy had som many problem with his wrists although i think one time he suffered a motorcycle injury..

newsflash, floyd's not a WW, he's a 130-135 pounder blown up.... did tito move up two weight classes and dominate? NO...did hearns or leonard? NO floyd says that he pound for pound one of the best which is true, now because he never established himself as the a dominate force in one weight class other than 130.. he can't be call the best ever at any weight class..so pound for pound is more suitable....
and floyd kicks the shit out hearns, and if oscar and bernard gave tito boxing lessons then floyd would give him a master's degree....
and floyd wouldn't have needed two fights to figure out how to beat duran, as floyd arguably is one of the smartest fighters ever when it comes to adapting in the ring.....

they can have as much power as they want they still have to land their shot flush on Floyd for it to come into play. Floyd is one of the best defensive fighter i have ever seen couple that with his qiuck counter punching and versitilty he would give anyone problems so to say he couldnt hang with any of the ATG WW is complete BS we can only judge on what we see in the ring and in FLoyds case thats a complete fighter

Your right ..and the thing is though take this for an example..
Ricky is having moderate success roughing up floyd before pbf opens up in the later rounds.. And manny is saying..Its close, hatton's style is giving him trouble, floyd hasnt fought anyone with the speed of hatton either.. although hatton is now loosing later in the fight i still think hatton is giving him the toughest fight of his career to date..
So when floyd starts to get up on the cards and lands telling blows he flip reverses his tune and starts downplaying floyd.. Like hatton is natural at this weight.. Etc.. He downplays the legitimate challenge that hatton is and was.. its incredible.. George used to let his favourite guys get the better of him and he used to praise them but when he was wrong he admitted it..He would say all these things great about the guy he liked more and then neglect theyr opponent but then when the tide turned he still gave props all round and told it how it was..

You know, i'm not sure if it was dislike of Floyd.
Although critical of him, Manny has always been quite fond of Hatton as thy met a number of years back. He was quite keen on Hatton and I think he willed him to win this one.

All I know is he needs to worry about that guy Cintron who he's training and focus more on him than Floyd. I wish Floyd could get in there with Curmit and see what he says after that when Cintron is sitting on the floor crying. He was talking about how great J. Taylor was and how garbage Pavlik was up until his boy went to sleep. If Floyd was in his stable he'd be saying Mayweather was the greatest fighter ever to step in the ring. If he isn't that good, then when is Manny going to train a fighter to beat him?

Basically, you are giving credibility to those alphabet titles.
Hatton is the undisputed JWW king, right? Has he 'cleaned out his division'? He would have to go fight Witter, Malignaggi, etc. That probably isn't reasonable.

Just out of curiousity, since when does criticism of someone, mean that they "hate" that person? I don't recall Manny ever questioning Floyd's talent or fighting skills, he has just criticized, and rightfully so IMO, Floyd's attitude and choice of opponents. Floyd wants to have his cake and eat it too. He wants to call himself the greatest of all time, yet only wants to fight opponents that "make business sense." You can't have it both ways. As far as him not praising Floyd enough, this is how I see it; boxing is about beating the best. It goes without saying that Floyd is the best, so why does everybody need to consistently praise him? Floyd is universally considered the best, so it is the job of everybody else to try and beat him. Then if someone beats him, he becomes the target and the cycle continues. Does anybody really want to see the same guy win over and over? Just because Floyd is the best at the moment, does that mean that we all have to kiss his a$$?
