I found this on the dictionary ;D
"A hook on the saddle of a harness, over which a checkrein is looped."
No idea, interested in finding out though
I found this.
What is the difference between a check-hook and a regular left hook?
"A check hook is basically a mix of a hook and an uppercut. It comes in at a strange angle so it cant really be considered an uppercut. It's pretty basic you learn it in the amatuers, but even pro's make mistakes, which is why hatton took one to the chin."
Good find...Quote:

Donovan-"Razor"-Ruddock's special punch was one of these, he called it the "smash" remember?
Nice one for that ccQuote:

"Check Hook" refers to the aincient art of combining the magnanumous fource of a perfect left hook to the chin and the unyielding power of a beam guard to the forehead. It is considered to be 100% effective in KTFO your opponent.
To this day Hatton is the only known victim to have actually managed to get back on his feet after being struck by this most awsome combination. Though he was not up for long.
So the eygptians were the one's to invent the phrase "Knocked the fuck out" LoLQuote:

I pretty much figured it was when you sidestepped out of range and threw the hook at the same time..
Sometimes you have to throw that shot when your finding it hard to get inside a guys jab and they coming at you.. You just throw quite a long left hook out and move out the way..
I guess the thing about it is its hard to stop it if you do see it..Which is rarely and why its quite powerful..its hard to pick off
Hookercut?Quote:

I certainly hope not :-X
An ya BHB, I use it that way too.
De La Hoya mastered this early in his career.
I found it ironic that Mayweather fought two of the best left hookers in the game in back-to-back fights. In those 22 rounds, Floyd got hit with zero significant left hooks.
Yet, he KO'd one guy with a left hook.
If you watch the fight with the HBO broadcast team, you will notice that Floyd connects on a check hook in the THIRD round, and Manny says "Check Hook". I did not notice it during the original broadcast, but took note in the replay.
Those Michigan guys all learn the same stuff. They are so old-school.
I noticed as the fight progressed that Hatton was setting himself up for it. He kept lunging in and once, in the exact same spot where he got taken down with the check hook (I've heard it also as upper-hook), he would have gotten the same treatment had Mayweather thrown the hook.
in a nutshell...
boxer A lunges forward with a hook, boxer B see's it coming, takes a step back, unleashes a hook of his own and connects before boxer A does...
It was almost identical to what Donaire did to Vic.
That is a Smash and Razor Ruddock holds all copyrights on that punch. Now he is gonna sue!! ;DQuote:

Only a real Hatton Hater would take a post that is clearly a joke from start to finish and make it out to be some kind of Hatton fan mania statement.Quote:

But they are all taught very well and all the best fighters from michigan are old school..
Earlier on it could have been said about floyds career but no not so much but back when floyd was knocking quite alot of guys out there was Floyd, James Toney, Tommy hearns.. All good boxers all good punchers.. So stylistically you might say michigan produces great boxer punchers
I also heard Manny say that a few times. Floyd was landing those shots at will.. He hit him with a number of those "check hooks"..Quote:

Once your opponent is totaly frustrated, by the ref and by your own tactics such as holding, running, turning your back to your opponent, elbowing your opponent and ducking below the waist line the entire fight, and the ref warns the other guy for those tactics, you can easylie lure your opponent into a corner as he is running in at you full speed ahead and just left hook his @ss.
;D
Yep, that's the right answer. It's basically a quick counter hook that you throw while your opponent is rushing in.Quote:

what does that say of Hatton's trainers??????????? It shows that they are extremely deficient when it comes to training in that they didn't prepare their fighter to defend against the most elementary of punches. Neither did they help to adjust their fighter when these punches were regularly being landed by Floyd.Quote:

In the first hatton looked like old school hatton like when he fought tszyu he steps in and faints and does that leaping jab to catch him at long range and then side steps with the combinations..
And as the fight drew on he just got frustrated and wanted to rush him, was overcome with emotion
