Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
The way his career stands right now, would you vote him into the Hall of Fame?
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
yes
he was very dominant and he had a entertaining fight with lennox lewis
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
Nah not quite in my eyes, having an entertaining close fight with a Atg doesnt mean getting in the Hall of fame. Shame for Vitali without the injuries id say hed be an almost dead cert as would of ruled the division for many years post Lewis.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
I was big on Vitali and thought he was the one to beat Lennox.
Sadly I think his career falls short of Canastota.
His best wins were Hide, Hoffman? and Sanders? :(
Hardly a hall of fame opposition.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
Absolutely not. Not even close. His only world class opposition was Lewis, and though he fought a great fight, he didn't win. The rest of his opponents were, as Mick says, not even close to HOF caliber. If he had remained injury-free and dominated the division for the past decade, then you could give him a pass for the sorry state of the division. But given that he was only around for a few years, he's just not going to be remembered in boxing history.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
His best wins are.
Obed Sullivan
Vaughn Bean
Orlin Norris
Herbie Hide
Ross Puritty
Larry Donald
Danny Williams
Corrie Sanders
Kirk Johnson
Only few names really stand out others are mediocre. No way should he be in Hall Of Fame not even close.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
Absolutely not.
He lost the only really big fight of his life to an out-of-shape Lennox Lewis, and his biggest win was over a guy (Corrie Sanders) whose training regimen consisted of playing golf.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
Is this a joke? ???
Seriously he never even won a world title, it got given to him after Lewis retired and he didn't even defend it.
How can a guy who was never even a legitimate world champ be considered for the hall of fame?
Edit, I stand corrected. He made one defense..........against Danny Williams.
If he goes in the hall of fame for that then I guess we need to put Audley in as he did a much better demolition job than Vitaly :-X
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
vitali was NEVER beaten, he only has losses from injuries, both of them were fights in which he was ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage, vitali should be in the hall of fame
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
I would say no but hey Barry mcguigan got in

Let's just put this into perspective. Imagine if Jermain Taylor had got up from the knockdown to Kelly Pavlik and that in the next round opened a bad cut on Pavliks eye and the fight was stopped giving Jermain the ring.
Now imagine Pavlik retired after this. Would he be in the hall of fame? Hell no, he hasn't even won anything yet.
It's the same with Vitaly, he picked up a vacant belt which he defended against Danny Williams, AND THAT'S IT!
What else did he do? Wow he was ahead by two rounds against Lennox Lewis before being stopped on cuts. Whoopdy doo ::** :D

Hell yeah. GO Bilbo!
FUK NO Vitaly should NOT he in the HOF. Thats a fukin joke.
It is good to know that at times like these, the JFAT Alliance can still stand strong against the rabid Klitheads.

Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
Lennox would have stopped him in a couple more rounds he was cut in a bad way and they were by punches. Also he quit with a shoulder injury against Byrd he could have shown guts and heart by carrying on and winning.Danny williams did against Potter many of fighter have gone through the pain barrier and injury to win he would'nt push himself.

Are all injuries the same? Are their different severities that can describe levels of rotator cuff injuries? YES.
This may be a completely different debate, but to say how and what vitali should do with a legitimate injury during a fight is purely opinionated. Because to say he has no heart, but then was enraged that the fight was stopped due to a cut that could of ended his career negates itself. To say he has no heart, but wanted to fight on through that specific cut doesn't add up. Not to mention he took on the undisputed heavyweight champ of the world on 11 days notice. Yea, he's as chicken as they come ::**
I still say no to him being a hall of famer, he hasn't earned the right, But to say he has no heart is well, an irresponsible comment to make.
Until you can prove the level of injury he suffered and williams suffered were similar, i myself do not believe anyone can question his "heart" after that last battle with Lewis.
Oh and by the way,
Lewis punch stats were decreasing everyround while vitali's were increasing (even with the cut) vitali took lewis' hardest punch, and walked right through it. You can have your opinion about that fight, and i'll have mine. But thats all they will ever be, because lewis did not fulfill his promise to rematch Vitali and retired.

Lennox also fought him at 11 days notice and don't get all mardy about it mate im just saying.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
lol not getting mardy, i just get defensive with a fighters heart is in question.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
I just think these are some good reasons he should'nt be in hall of fame plus what has he done???????

If the fight between Vitaly and Lennox would have gone any longer Vitaly would have been seriously done for not only career wise but possible handicapped in that eye for life....That was a horrible gash and it was just a good straight right away from actually going to the next level.....Blindness

Mayweather had rotator cuff injury in his toughest fight ever vs Castillo and he still fought on, Vitali was winning his fight easily and just quit he should of fought on like a real Champion should.
Oh and by the way,
Lewis punch stats were decreasing everyround while vitali's were increasing (even with the cut) vitali took lewis' hardest punch, and walked right through it.
And Vitali was holding on for dear life at the end of 6th round so whats your point ??
and i'll have mine. But thats all they will ever be, because lewis did not fulfill his promise to rematch Vitali and retired.
Lewis was smart enough to get out of boxing when he was old he was 37 wasn't he ?? plus he still had his money, health, legacy, so it was good time to retire.
And tell me where MayweatherweatherP4P said Vitali didn't have no heart ??
Lennox would have stopped him in a couple more rounds he was cut in a bad way and they were by punches. Also he quit with a shoulder injury against Byrd he could have shown guts and heart by carrying on and winning.Danny williams did against Potter many of fighter have gone through the pain barrier and injury to win he would'nt push himself.
I agree Williams was fighting with one bloody arm, and he still fought on like a true champion and won.

Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
vitali was dominating lennox and would have won that fight if there was no cut
he DOMINATED chris byrd
and if lennox would have taken a rematch he would have been embarrassed

Vitaly was winnnin the first 4 rds and Lennoz was coming back in the fight...Lewis also came in out of shape...he was tired by the 4th....I doubt sincearly Vitaly would have embaressed him so get off the Klitschko love machine

No, he wasn't
He may of had some bright moments before the fight stopped, but his jab was gone, he was throwing HALF of the punches klits was. And thats fact.

At the time of the stoppage Vitaly was leaning on Lennox Just as much as lewis was him...in truth BOTH fighters looked like S*** in that fight...it was one of the sloppiest hw bouts I have ever seen....I still stand by what I said

Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
There is no way that he should be in there. So many people talk about the Lewis fight; where are the other fighters he has fought? He caught Lewis old and cold, and still couldn't beat him. Then again, as someone else said, Mcguigan got in, and all he did was beat an old man and then later on lose his title to a very average fighter. Apparently, Gary Mason is up next.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
to be a hall of famer you need to be a champion that has longevity. yes he was winning the fight against lewis but lost the fight legitimately. when he did eventually win the WBC belt he made one defence. Had his career not been cut short by injury then there is every chance he could have been a dominant champion and made the hall of fame. based on his career at the moment he is not a hall of famer
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
He lost his biggest fight which was against a fading, undertrained 38 year old Lennox Lewis.
Klitschko has not done enough to be in the HOF.
-
Re: Is Vitaly Klitchko a Hall of Famer?
HOF at this point is ridiculous to even contemplate at this point, he's beaten no one of any real historical significance. To say that "only injury" beat him is wrong because it's part of the game (besides he quit out of exhaustion against Byrd, rotator cuff my ass). He lost to LL and not for the cut it was quite apparent he was going to get KO'd. Could Vitali be a HOF-er sure, but he's got a long way to go imo.
