Margarito to face Judah in March?
Just posted at boxingscene
By Mark Vester
It appears that a battle of former welterweight champions with near identical records is being discussed for March. Antonio Margarito (35-5, 25KOs) and Zab Judah (36-5, 25KOs) may lock horns in a clear eliminator for a future big payday.
Margarito-Judah was previously pitched by Top Rank to Showtime, who turned it down and instead televised the Tarver-Santiago tripleheader. Initially, it was being reported that Margarito would face Jose Luis Castillo in an obvious mismatch, but that appears to be off. Steve Kim of AUTO MESSAGE: The webmaster of this site has requested that we do not use any content from it.... please delete this post says Judah is current opponent being discussed for the fighter known as the Tijuana Tornado.
If sources are correct, Margarito-Judah would be a co-feature to a tentative bout between WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey (should he beat Shamone Alvarez). If Margarito and Cotto win, they would collide in either May or June.
Interesting fight. I think the only question is, can Margarito destroy Judah faster than Cotto did?

Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
If Showtime really did turn down Judah vs Margarito in favour of showing Tarver vs Santiago then they must have a complete fucktard in charge of their sports broadcasting.
I would almost not believe it but then I see Jim Gray and think to myself if they would employ him then really nothing they do should be a suprise. :-\

Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
Good stuff if it happens. I've been wanting this fight for a while and hope it gets set. Margarito will destroy Judah within 9 rounds, though it will be a barnburner for the 1st 5 rounds. If Tony should lose he'll get put way back, so it's a must win for him.

If Tony starts slow it will be...If Margarito comes out of the gate strong it will be a short night work

This fight should have happened looooong ago.
It would have been sweet then but now nothing would please me more then to see Margarito retire Zab once and for all. 8)

I was thinking the same thing. Jim Gray is the stupidest interviewer ever. Not only does he ask ridiculous questions, he has no clue when it come to boxing.

My fav. Jim Gray interview is when he interviewed Tyson.

Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
Judah is going to get knocked the phuk out.
Margarito is going to knock Judah out in 3.
So we have Cotto/Clottey?
This should be an interesting match up.
Those Africans are tough as nails.
This would then set up a fight between Margarito/Cotto?
YES!
Then Cotto/Williams
and then Run Floyd Run!
Cotto is the real Welter Weight KING!
Floyd will defend his belt against another junior welter weight? Or Will he move up and try to fight ODLH @ 154 again? I see Floyd vacating the welter weight belt.
That reminds me, I need to buy some chicken feed.

Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
this is probably the last chance for zab, and margarito maybe not margaito.

Who does not like Zab Judah? What is there not to like about him? He is 110% sheer comedy. He is going to find that his sneak a punch is useless against Tony and Tony is going to walk right through his @ss. Margarito is on a mission and is very dangerous at the moment. Bad timming for Judah.

I never saw the Tyson interview but I remember him trying to interview James Toney after the Holyfielf fight and Toney having to be restrained. He started giving swearing at him and telling him he hated him. Hilarious stuff!

Everytime I mention your boyfriends name are you going to say something about it? Man you defend him just as much as brazilianbomber does. You and him should get on MSN and phone bone while talking about how great you think PBF is. LMAO!

Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
Margarito is going to crush Judah, Judah badly cracks under pressure. And Margarito throws 60+ power punches a round, and keeps coming and coming no matter what you throw at him. Don't be surprised if Judah quits on his stool in this one.
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
I've been begging for this fight for years. Zab is way too fast and skilled for the journeyman.
Soon Zab Judah will be back in the top rung of the welterweight division where he belongs, and Margarito will fade into obscurity.......... where he belongs
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
Thank god after this fight we can say good by to Juhda he needs to put away and Margarito is going to do it.
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
Yep, bye bye Blab Judah :fyou: He can play dice with his teeth after Tijuana knocks them out. I'm sure Judah will get another chance though. All he has to do is fight some new bums on the new season of FNF's to regroup himself, then he'll get another shot at Floyd ::**

LMAO! You said the same thing about Cotto.
Zab could not even get off on Ryan Davis.
Ryan who?
Exactly!
won 20 (KO's 8 ) + lost 7 (KO 1) + drawn 2 = 29
Margarito is not even going to feel Zab's one and only weapon and once this becomes apparent to Judah early, Judah is going to crumble like an amatuer writers sheet of paper.
Is this the same journeyman Tony Margarito we are talking about? Is this the one that Floyd Mayweather Jr., ducked? LMAO!
OUCH!
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
I think Judah will do the dance again.
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
Margartio will win this one and get another shot, i want him to fight Cotto if he doesnt fight Floyd and if he beats his mandatory. Judah is becoming a gatekeeper at the top I believe and i dont see him beating any top men at 147 now. Hes still good but not better than the best. It will be an awesome fight though...
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
I am tired of seeing Judah getting beat up

He couldn't do anything with Edwin Vasquez either. At least Margarito smoked out Johnson in about 2 minutes.

Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
I really hope this fight happens. What a card that would be, Cotto-Clottey, Margarito-Judah. I know Cotto would be the headliner but I'm more stoked to see Tony and Zab. I think Tony will KO him, but Zab is no bum, and he is always dangerous. This is definitely do or die for the both of them. Whoever loses is just about finished, I would say. Tony had his shot in the limelight against Williams and he blew it, I don't think he will do it again. I think Zab is in the twilight of his career regardless, and even if he managed to pull off the upset, I don't see him really going anywhere. Margarito-Cotto in June, that's what I'm talking about.
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
I would of favored Judah years ago. Not the case now. I think Margarito stops him in 5

Judah has refined his style and is now a solid boxer these days, which is why he doesn't knock people out anymore. He's all about technique and skill ;)
FYI............... It was your boy Cotto who said that Judah is a much more dangerous opponent that Shane Mosley
Mayweather never ducked the journeyman. Why would the P4P #1 fighter be afraid of a chump that lost to Daniel Santos and got outboxed by Paul Williams?? Are you saying that Floyd can't box better than Paul Williams??
Journeyman Margarito isn't fit to hold Mayweather's jockstrap.................. and Zab Judah is just the right guy to prove it ;D
I highly doubt this fight ever happens, though. Margarito is a protected fighter (remember when Arum freaked out and threatened to sue Margarito for fighting Williams) and Arum will do everything in his power to keep Margarito away from the Zab Judahs of the boxing world while keeping him in with the likes of Golden Johnson
-
Re: Margarito to face Judah in March?
This fight will be similar to Cotto-Judah. Zab's speed and power will give Margarito some problems early on, but if Margarito weathers the early storm, he'll wear Judah down over the course of the fight.
Margarito is definitely a clear favorite, but anyone who thinks this is a cakewalk for Margarito is nothing but a Judah hater. (And we certainly have plenty of those.)

Sure Golden Johnson is cab driver
won 25 (KO 18) + lost 8 (KO 4) + drawn 3 = 36
but so are Ryan Davis and Edwin Vazquez.
At least Margarito knocks his cab drivers out.
You know, you bring up the Daniel Santos and that is all you have.
Margarito and Daniel went to war the fight was stopped due to the many clash of heads.
Daniel is a South paw and Tony is not Jr Middle weight.
Did you even watch the fight or are you just going by BoxRec?
I hope you are around when Judah get's knocked the phuk out so I can laugh at you some more. Oh and BTW. Yes, Floyd did duck Tony Margarito and everyone but you knows it or will admit. Change your name to Cleopatra because you are acting like the QUEEN of DE-NILE/Denial .

Santos isn't all I have. Did you not read the part about Williams? Were you not one of the people saying that Williams was just a over-hyped prospect before the fight? I like Williams as I've stated in the past, but I only see him as a B level fighter. Williams outboxed Margarito pretty convincingly, Judah wil be even better

NICE...this will be brutally beautiful.Sign me up.I just Do not believe Judah will/(can) step inside with Margarito. That lanky power and tenacious pressure will spell disaster for Lil' Zab.
Judah couldnt hurt Tony's feelings..let alone dent his chin or heart.
