Ever since Barrera beat Nassem Hammed I have been a fan of him,He beat Hammed quite easy and he was never in any trouble...Barrera is just great to watch just love his style...
Only fights I have seen of him are the Morales trilogy and the Hammed fight oh and the Rocky Juarez second fight.Any one recommend any other good Barrera fights I should try see...
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Kennedy McKinney
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Juan Manuel Marquez
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Kevin Kelley
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Johnny Tapia
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Paulie Ayala
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Rocky Juarez 1
Start off on them theres mixture of great toe to toe battles and superb boxing from Barrera.

Re: Which are Barreras best fights
Besides the ones Ice listed
Some earlier ones, might be tough to find, if you go way way back you get to see Barrera with a 1980's Poison/LA Guns type masterpiece of a haircut
Eddie Cook-could probably find this
Carlos Salazar-probably tough to find unless you have a career set
Junior Jones 1 and 2-mainly 2, fought a better fight
Other than that, maybe Robbie Peden although Peden's total non effort made it a dull fight.
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
Most of them were good, just to see that legend in the ring. Hes awesome, he sparked Fana out in two rounds, awesome show.

Yeah just checked have all those fights,I got a career set on him really looking forwad to see him in action...Wont get chance to watch it till after Christmas but from reading the cover there is a lot of his early fights in Mexico on it....43 fights in total on this set so lots of fights to look forward to...
Is Barrera retired now due to his recent defeats against Marquez and Pac man and what were his recent defeats down to was it just him not as sharp as he once was or is it a case that Marquez and Pac man are simply better fighters.

The 3rd Morales fight always holds the most satisfation for me.
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
The Morales fights; and the Kelly fight like Finito mentioned. I was a big fan of Kelly and thought he would win ::** Of course his 1st fight with Pac I liked and the 1st fight I ever saw him in vs. Jesus Salud.

Can anyone answer this I just watched some of the Pac man fight on you tube and Barrera gets badly beat,is this due to him been past his best or is Pac simply a great fighter...
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
I think he is, there is no need to fight on. Nothing to prove now and lost to the two best men in the devision. NOBODY can ever forget his achievements though...

Marquez vs Barrera was very close fight, if the knockdown had been scored i would of had Barrera winning. Barrera fought too defensive in 2nd fight with Pacquiao but im just glad he went the distance. But Pacquiao just has his number.
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
I'd like to do an assesment of his fights but unfortunate for me I don't have the time to do so. I'll just list some fights....
Josefino Suarez - MAB picks up his 1st title (Mexican Super Flyweight) by outboxing Suarez. MAB showed a great deal of skills by using the entire ring and outlanding Suarez thru 12.
Carlos Salazar - MAB earns a spot in a eliminator bout but fails to make weight. He struggles late in the fight but manages to earn himself a MD win. Eventhough he won because he came in overweight the title shot was void. I recommend this fight because Carlos was world class at that time had already fought for 2 titles and he also went on to become champ.
Daniel Jimenez - MAB wins hist 1st title here and outboxes Daniel thru 12, this fight was shown in it's original broadcast on KCAL 9 network outhere in los angeles. MAB showed he could counter and use his jab to control his opponent.
Eddie Croft, Salud, Agapito Sanchez, Fana if anything just for the KO.
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
I think I have all those fights will look out for them cheers

Icecold mentioned his best fights . The defeats against Marquez and Pac were close but remember this is not a prime Barrera . He was at his physical peak a decade ago . These guys are at their peak now yet neither really beat up on an old shop worn Barrera . Barreras past his best yet he beat Marquez IMO . He floored him in round 7 yet all 3 judges scored teh round 10-8 to Marquez . Against Pac the second time. Barrera just boxed his figt and stopped Manny from brawling . Barrera wanted to go out on his feet in his final fight . The one you saw on youtube was of their first fight . Barrera didnt train for that fight cuz the forrst fires forced him out of his training camp yet he still floored pac in round 1 and went 11 rounds .

Disagree with you there mate . Pac just got Barrera at the right time . Just as Berbick got Ali at the right time and Mcbride got Tyson . Doesnt mean that they are better fighters .

In mine and many peoples opinions he beat marquez..
It was close no doubt but i had barrera a good two rounds up and i wouldnt have been mad had either guy won it..Jay nady did a horrible job with deducting a point and not scoring a knockdown for barrera which also will have affected the scoring but at the end of the day the judges also did him a mis justice in seeing the fight so wrongly and scoring it lopsidedly for marquez.. Which takes away what a good fight and props to marquez for getting a decision that shouldnt have been tainted by bad judging..
Still like i said lots of people know barrera won the fight..
My favourite barrera fights are
Erik Morales 1 and 3
Kennedy Mckinney
Marquez

Sorry Game but you can't compare those fights to Barrera vs Pacquiao 1. Barrera was on a good winning streak beating the likes of Johnny Tapia, Naseem Hamed, Erik Morales, Kevin Kelley. And he had not shown signs of being past his prime or ETC. I think Pacquiao just has his number but thats nothing to be ashamed of every boxer has a weakness to a certain style and Pacquiao is a great fighter.

I think i had the fight a draw i was outraged at those scores, i wouldn't of been disappointed with either fighter winning by 1 or 2 rounds but by 9 points and 5 points ?? no way on this earth. Just look at Marquez's face after the fight he looked like he bad been smashed into brick wall, where as Barrera hardly had a mark on him.
Had the knockdown been scored i would of had Barrera winning it was terrible referring from Jay Nady.

Barrera didnt train for that fight . We knew that going in and he didnt have any muscle tone . We could see that . His usual intensity was lacking and its cuz he wasnt taking the fight seriously like Lewis vs Rahman . Its not that Lewis was past it but flukes happen when you dont take it serioulsy . Barrera was concentrating in teh rematch and thats why teh new and improved Pac couldnt hurt him that time even though Barrera was older and slower at that age .
The Pac that was K.O'd by Torrencampo would have been destroyed by a peak Barrera . No doubt about it and it wouldnt have lasted 11 rounds either .
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
Morales 1 and McKinney fights are my fav of his.
Those were wicked fights.
Hamed fight is also a good one to see to watch him school the arrogant little ponce.
Re: Which are Barreras best fights
Since last posted have watched the Mc Kinney fight what a fight Barrera in trouble aswell in parts...
Also watched the prince fight last night from watching Barrera so far he was class as good as everyone says.

Barrera was the man in his prime . These guys like Pac and Marquez wouldnt have lasted with him .
