What is the best boxing cities in the world?
I don't pick a city because it has produced lots of great boxers (like Detroit) but based on the number of boxing events in this city...
My choices in order:
Tokyo
Osaka
Las vegas
Atlantic city
New york
London
Berlin
Hamburg
Bangkok
Miami
Francfort
Bueno Aires
Philadelphia
Mexico-city
Sao Polo
Tijuana
Guadalajara
...
Which cities i have forgotten?
What is your rank?

Sure you get Comps and drink tickets when you are spending your money on something else, that shit is not free they are just taking your money in a different way and they still expect you to tip, nothing is free.

Just put a $20 bill in a video poker machine (I do the video blackjack game because it takes forever to lose your money) at the bar, play 5 quarters at a time, and nurse it along ever so slowly. Make sure you tip the bartender good and you can be there all night drinking premium cocktails, or if you tip real good like me, you can sit there and knock down Remy Martin VSOP doubles (normally about a $16.00 drink) for as long as you can sit up straight in your stool.
TIP: Don't lay your head down on the bar because you're likely to get cut off................ or even worse, kicked out.

Re: What is the best boxing cities in the world?
Well, naturally I don't really know much about what goes on outside of Britain except those in the US of Vegas, Atlantic City and NY.
However, when it comes to Britain, we got plenty of places where even English, Commonwealth or British title fights can get great audiences, across the country.
Sorry if I miss anyone out, but here's my list what I wrote:
London, Glasgow, Belfast, Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bradford, Leeds, Nottingham....and there is plenty of a grassroots fanbase across the country.

Thats the general census....And even if you are playing dollar slots all day and put away lets say 15 drinks...but pump out and lose $75...they get the liquor at such a low price they are still making money off of it...and hopes are eventually you get hammered enough to get brave and hit the tables...

Hollywood is about 15 miles north of Miami, there is 7 Hollywood's in the United States with the most popular being in Los Angeles. RJJ is not from Miami, the other's were correct though

Too bad in PR there is not much boxing don't get me wrong there are boxing events but like 3 to 4 a year like much

Re: What is the best boxing cities in the world?
I would say New York was the best city throughout most of the 20th Century. I mean, look how many great fights occurred at Madison Square Garden and Yankee Stadium. But since the 70's, Las Vegas has overtaken New York. Recently, New York has been making a comeback, mainly due to Trinidad and Cotto fighting there and packing the house. Atlantic City was doing well in the 80's and 90's and still does well, but for a time it was number two behind Vegas. It seems like its "grand" days are past.

You really think so? I read El Nuevo Dia newspaper a lot and there seems to be cards there all the time. Maybe not big fights, but Calderon, Juanma Lopez, Oquendo, Jesus Rojas and others fight there alot. In fact, I once saw Ricardo Torres and Edwin Vazquez (the one who Judah beat recently) live. Torres KO'd him brutally and then fought Cotto soon after and we know what happened there. At the time of this fight, people were saying Torres was a "fill in," he took the fight on short notice, look what he did to Cotto, etc., etc., as if Torres had been inactive for a long time. But Torres was the more active when he fought Cotto and they were scheduled to fight each other later in the year, but Branco had to pull out of the fight, so they moved up the Torres fight. Sorry about digressing folks.

Don't forget about the cheap ones!!
They need lovin' too, and they're more likely to negotiate with you and set up some kind of deal if you're a little short on cash.

I don't know what side of town that you reside in but there are very few cheap hookers in Vegas. These girls are used to having so many wanna be high rollers come into town and waste their money, you will see unattractive women working at a 500 dollor an hour rate ???

I've lived here almost my whole life (with a few stints in Cali) so trust me, I know how it works.
3 girls (occasionally hot) girls sitting together at a bar by themselves in Gucci dresses with a drink in front of them (but by no means drunk) at 3am in a casino = $500.00 a pop (they will ALWAYS make eyes at you if you're by yourself)
Trashy crack ho (possible transvestite) walking around downtown (downtown by Fremont St., not the Strip) with next to nothing on but having on the biggest high-heels you've ever seen = name your price. they might be bold enough to quote a rate as high as $50.00 but are always willing to go much cheaper

I have a funny story for you. I got into town May 1st of 07 and spent the first month here looking for a good booty call, I was not able to find anything so I picked up the telephone book one day and looked for one of the Massage parlors. There was one place that had outgoing calls for 80 bucks, so I said OK let me have one come by the house, sure enough she comes by the house and she was not attractive. She had no ass whatsoever, no tits, and her face was about a 6, this is the type of girl I would not even look at in a club, nor would I by a drink. But here she was at my house and I'm horny so I say let's get it on, she told me that on top of my 80 bucks it was an additional 200 for a BJ and 500 for sex, I immediately told her to leave my house, I said to myself " only in Vegas can a ugly broad like that charge so much money :'(

You shouldn't have kicked her out so quick. If she was that ugly, I'm sure you could have got the price down substantially had you put in the effort. She knows that there's better girls out there for the same price, she's just trying to highball you. Ugly hookers remind me of the merchants in Tijuana and Ensinada, Mexico. It's all about negotiation.
Or you could have threatened to call the police and have her arrested for prostitution and have her employer raided for being a brothel......................... but then offered to keep your mouth shut for a free twirl ;D

James Toney was born in Grand Rapids, raised in Ann Arbor, but fought out of Detroit, kind of. Grand Rapids also boasts the Mayweathers, several other pros and a few olympians as well as Buster Mathis Sr. who fought Ali and Jr. who fought Tyson.
But Hell Detroit with Joe Louis, Tommie Hearns etc etc, One of the best boxing towns ever. Hey, also Muhamed Ali has lived in Michigan for years.
My top Boxing towns:
New York
Detroit
Philadelphia
Too many fighters to list from these cities, but interestingly, both New York and Detroit can lay some claim to the best in Sugar Ray Robinson.
But San Juan and Mexico City are the meccas for Latino fans.

Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Too many champs to count. For smaller cities population under 80,000
I would lean to Youngstown Ohio.

Re: What is the best boxing cities in the world?
what are you people talking about....the boxers live in vegas to fight in vegas. they don't learn there. the best boxing city is Philadelphia... Someone mentioned cunningham, chambers...great champs but how about Joe Frazier, Meldrick Taylor, Matthew Saad Muhammed, Bernard Hopkins, Bennie Briscoe, jack obrien, david reid... by the way gatti didnt fight out of AC, jersey city and he was born in Canada. a bunch of the boxers you named from NYC, just live there, didnt learn there.
In no order the best boxers come from Philadelphia, New York, Detroit, St. louis, Los Angeles, Boston...
Like saying the best actors come from hollywood, CA...

Re: What is the best boxing cities in the world?
I'd say that in the last 5 years, Montreal has become one of the very good spot in North America boxing wise. Lots of boxing events, a couple of championship and it did produce a couple of champions/interesting prospects too.

Re: What is the best boxing cities in the world?
It is clearly Halifax in Yorkshire. Nothing can compete with the boxing in Halifax, not even marauding naked Scandinavian sabre toothed hippos.

Re: What is the best boxing cities in the world?
That was funny about hookers and getting the best price. Such knowledgeable posters we have lost over the years. :)
