*Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
No idea why I threw two of these * in ???
Anyway Allan Green fights Rubin Williams on ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights at 8 central time Friday night.
Two hours later Shobox has Anthony Peterson fighting a late replacement Jose Antonio Izqueirdo (16-1, 13 KO's). Then Lamont Peterson fights Antonio Mesquita (34-0, 26 KO's.) Mesquita's record looks pretty good but I don't recognize much on his record except Santos Pakau, Mesquita stopped him in six right before Paul Williams did. Heard he's strong but a slow, plodding type.
Anyway, pretty solid night for a Friday. No Dominic Guinn!!

Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Yeah, very much looking forward to Green fighting, I'm a big fan of his, though he kind of acts like a prick. He'll knock Rubin out within 8 rounds is my prediction :-\ Hope he shows well, as I want to see him in the mix this year with some top guys.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
I'm a big fan of Green too, and of Lamont. Anyone seen this Mesquita fight, is he like Victor Oganov, good record, mediocre fighter or can he fight a bit.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Williams seems solid enough I guess. Remember him doing allright against Lacy back when everybody was so high on Lacy.
Would expect Green to win but honestly never really know what Green's gonna do. The Miranda showing was a bit bizarre to me, what with the constant looking down at his shoes ??? I've heard he was sick but why would that make you spend the whole fight looking down?
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Then Malignaggi-Ngoudjo on Saturday
Anybody know if Showtime has an undercard for that?
Not too excited about that one but its better than nothing I guess.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Ye pretty cool for the first weekend of the year, hopefully this year will top last year be very hard but looking good so far.

That was bizarre, but maybe he has a foot fetish like Larry Merchant; another guy who always looks at his feet ???
I hate making or listening to excuses when a fighter loses, but if it is true that Green was having major rear-end problems I'll cut him some slack for the Miranda fight. From what I understand, if I remember correctly, he had like 3/4 of his colon removed :-\ But just like I said about Miranda and his making weight and sick excuses after Pavlik beat him, maybe Green shouldn't have fought Edison if his problems were so severe.

Yeah they are showing Glen Johnson Vs. Hugo Pineda highlights only I think. Its should only go a few rounds anyway.

Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Good seeing Green back in action. Looking forward to watching the Peterson brothers as well

Doubt anyone's seen him, pretty much an unknown.

Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
I'm sure some people will be interested in this...
Brian Viloria returns to the ring Friday also his fight will be aired on Telefuturas: Solo Boxeo.
I'm thinking about going to this not sure yet...
VD it's gonna be at the Alemda Swap Meet.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
I really need to get telefutura, thing is its not like I just have basic cable, I've got extra "tiers" and shit, I guess i'd have to upgrade it even more.
On the other hand I don't really care this week, Viloria fights usually put me to sleep anyway. Frustrating fighter.

Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Alright...
I just got myself 2 Ringside tickets for this event...
$75 bucks...
I also noticed Vanes Marsityoan is scheduled to fight.

Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
The fight I'm looking forward to is A. Peterson vs Izquierdo. Has Anthony bitten of more than he can chew? I saw Izquierdo fight Nick Casal, he's got a lot of talent. Plus he has an outstanding amateur background. His amateur record is something like 381-7!!!

I've never seen him, I noticed that he beat Casal, to be honest thought I haven't been real impressed by Casal when I've seen him.
He is coming off a loss to Cesar Soto, not a horrible loss

Yeah the Soto loss really surprised me! My friend attended the Casal/ Izquierdo fight & recorded it for me on his handi-cam. He used to think Casal was the next big thing until he got into the white stuff & his career went backwards.

Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Hopefully I'll catch some of these fights!

I saw Mesquita fight once on FNF last year.. Pretty sure it was against Santos Pakau(however it's spelled, the guy Paul Williams beat). He's a very slow, uncoordinated fighter.. Remember thinking he must have a really really padded record to be undefeated with a good KO percentage. Anyways, either Peterson would steamroll him, this isn't really the kind of step up they should be taking imo. Well, I can't speak for the other fight, is it Anthony's? He seems to be in against another solid prospect which is good. I'd like to see either Peterson fight a name soonish though.. Dhop, Steve Forbes, etc.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
That's what I've heard, a slow, plodding type.
I've been ready for them to really step up but I guess there management's just taking it slow, would think the step up would have to be soon.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
FNF starting up, guess it will be about an hour till we get Green-Williams.
Hopefully a decent co feature. Sultan Ibragimov in studio. An odd looking dude.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
hey, Zahir Raheem, one of my least favorite fighters :D
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Zahir actually looks ready to fight.
Dude didn't even try to get up
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Thank you, I couldn't take ten rounds of Zahir clenching and falling to the ground.
to be fair he looked more interested from the start, actually threw some decent punches
Although the other guy, not so much
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Nice,This weekend is STACKED.Raheem with a one punch Tko Holyshitttttt .Crap, was hoping he'd catch leather.Like i was saying,Nice weekend of fights. Is Glen Johnson On under card of Malanaggi fight tomorrow.
Raheem thinks he's frazier now Lol.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Wow, Zahir in an k.o. win, that was a nice showing even if the guy was stepping up. Beautiful counter left hook right on the sweet spot. Good for him, he needed that badly.

Sultans a nice guy but he's a look alike for Barney Rubble from the flintstones :D
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Sultan does not look comfortable.
How did he draw with Ray Austin, I mean I watched it live but I still don't know how, I mean Ray Austin.
I kind of hope Green loses but I don't think he will
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Anyone else besides me pullin for Ibragimov against Klitschko? Wlad's jab is gonna be hard for him to get by because he's southpaw, its an interesting matchup. I just dont care for Wlad too much he's really boring IMO.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
I like Allen Green, he's a solid all around fighter, he really had an off night against Miranda. I have never seen him look so tentative. He's says its because of his intestine problem, but if that was the case he should have postponed, excuses....
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
I like the trunk tracker, but with all these damn espn tickers everywhere soon the whole screen is gonna be filled with shit....I guess its the A.D.D generation but damn....
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Yeh,No Contest, Ive seen sultan before and i really think the man can box well,He does not look like body beautiful but you never know.Wlads range will cause major problems but If Sultan can stay focused with the In And Out at angles he has a nice chance. That is a credible heavy title fight Imo.
I too am not big on Green.williams got dusted after actually boxing Lacy well (what a shock) and late sub Mendoza destroyed him in one if I remember??
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
This is a good one so far I like how Jones mixes it up and throws that right lead, he might not wanna trade tho, Gonzales had him cornered and wailed on him a bit. Jones is looking sharp.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Mendoza was kind of the King of late sub first round KO's, remember he did the same to that 154 pound prospect, Tokunbo Olajide. Then Chad Dawson got him.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
Williams is a showcase for Green IMO, he wants a good record to whoop on ESPN. He has took 2 gimmes after Miranda and looks to be easing back up the ladder. Williams didnt even make the first cut on the Contender. He was one of the most out of shape ones there. Yeah, every step up Williams has taken he's lost by k.o.

I still wince thinking about that ankle..OUCH snap.Olajide was twisted bad.

Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
This kid Jones puts some sweet combos together!Gonzales' shots look like they are doing more tho. Luckily for Jones it's only a 6 rounder.
-
Re: *Nice night of boxing Friday: Allan Green, Peterson brothers*
both guys look gassed really, maybe Jones moreso but both look tired.
Jones has looked better since the mouthpiece thing
