Manny Pacquiao draws up 2008 wishlist which includes a bout with Hatton...
Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddy Roach have came up with a wishlist of who they want to fight this year. First off it's JMM which happens is March and providing he gets through that he wants to fight at lightweight and then light-welterweight against Hatton.

Id concentrate on JMM first then one step at a time

I'd love to see Hatton vs Pac

I wouldn't it would be a joke, like i said in the other thread. Pacquiao started off as a Flyweight thats 7 weight classes below Jr Welterweight. Hatton would be much too strong for Pacquiao and would bully him all around the ring. Why doesn't Pacquiao fight fighters like Guzman, Valero, J.Diaz etc. Pacquiao moving up to fight Hatton at Jr Welterweight is a ridiculous choice.

Re: Manny Pacquiao draws up 2008 wishlist which includes a bout with Hatton...
Pacman needs to STFU and take 1 fight at a time. And I have little to no interest in seeing a Hatton fight. I'd rather watch him match the dangermen in and around his weight class than jump 2 classes and fight Ricky, especially when there are guys like Juan Diaz,Kats,GuzmanValero etc etc around. I have a feeling that they are going to fight David Diaz and then go to 140,for which he'll be rightly criticised.

and theres even talk of the Pac Man vs ODLH..?? This would just LOOK funny before a single punch is even thrown!

Please bare in mind i'm a Hatton fanboy.
I don't want to see him lose.

cc ice i agree with you. But for the case of Manny he could see a Hatton fight as an amazing chance to get a good pay cheque. Other than that I believe he should just fight the superfeather elite and Juan Diaz.

Re: Manny Pacquiao draws up 2008 wishlist which includes a bout with Hatton...
Marquez is a serious threat and might put a hold on PAC's plans early.
A have huge doubts that Paquiao could handle The Baby Bull at 135.
But if he does get by both of those fights then I could see a fight with Hatton happening.

CC Rookie Fan! I completely agree with every point you just made! Marquez is arguably the best fighter that Pac has every faced.
I also don't think Pac could handle Juan Diaz at 135. Although I would love to see Manny ROCK Juan because he's compltely picking on a smaller fighter. Diaz needs to pick on people his weight or even bigger. I think it looks bad when someone goes looking for someone in a lighter weight class.
Even if Pac gets through Diaz at 135, fighting at 140 right after would be stupid. His punching power wouldn't be a factor coming into the fight. Hatton is at his absolute best at 140 and would destroy Pac if he ever caught him. This would be a money making machine though. Imagine, Pac fans are obsessed and Hatton fans are insane. The battle between countries would be massive!!! But the battle in the ring would be quick.

So what do you call Pac fighting smaller guys like Solis, Valasquez and Larios? I call that simply picking on smaller fighters. Be aware of your claims it makes you look bad when your favorite boxer has made a big splash mastering the art ! I personally would love to see Pac muscled around the ring and having to deal with superior power from an opponent for a change and seeing how he adapts ......

that's true. a pac-hatton fight would be huge especially if pac hurdles jmm and the baby bull. both pac and hatton has huge fanatical followings and just for the financial aspect of it it makes sense, notwithstanding it's gonna be a style match-up made in heaven. so don't be surprise boys if it does happen later this year or early 2009.

pac might have started off at flyweight but you seem to be forgetting that he turned pro at 17 years old. he was still a growing boy. he's gained mass over the years and is fighting naturally heavier as he gets older.

No Kkisser I have not forgotten. It is visibly apparent Pac is a bigger man than his recent opponents despite hitting the scales at the same weight as featherweights and superfeatherweights. Pac is all muscle and his opponents have also moved up but without the ability to carry the same muscle mass on their frames. Pac is still maturing into his weight and I see no problems at 135. I do see all his advantages negated at 140 since his boxing skills are limited. I keep hearing how he has improved the last year. really based on 2 fights? ( A featherweight Solis & and a beyond his prime Barrera) We will see in March just how much he has improved ( His style is comical and amatuerish but his power allows him to do so until he fight an equally hard puncher). JMM lacks in the power punching department as Rocky Juarez mentioned recently to a Phillipine radio host that "JMM has average power". A close Pac win will leave many observers still questioning Pac's accomplishments. Pac's best matches at this weight class are against Soto (power & heart) and Guzman against someone who may actually be faster than Pac. Juan Diaz appears to be his only true risk since entering the ring against MAB in their 1st fight. Then again Pac had little to lose or pressure on him that night.

Relax and KY yourself out of Pac's @ss... Diaz is CALLING a big payday out. Who does not want to fight Pac-$$$$-Man ? Last I heard Pac still has JMM to contend with and I see 1 of 2 outcomes a Pac KO or a JMM decision. I also see it as a fight for JMM to lose. If he boxes he will win. If he tries to fight he will lose. I await to see if Pac is capable of making an in fight adjustment. Pac has never really had to! One last point, why have you made Pac out to be god if the fore-mentioned exist as you confirmed above: Solis, Velasquez, and Larios did come from smaller weight classes. ??? And then many can argue EM and MAB's odometers had too much mileage. In essence you have a MAB destruction and one great round against JMM !!! So slow down enjoy the ride with some fellow pinoy posters on a Jeepney and try some humility !!
If Diaz wins a built in excuse exists, as is for all boxing fans when their boxer finally loses.

Re: Manny Pacquiao draws up 2008 wishlist which includes a bout with Hatton...
The liklihood is that Pac is being overly-ambitious. He will lose before he ever gets as far as Hatton

totally agree mate. Insanity would be my plea if i was roach. Like some other guys are saying on this post 1 step at a time, JMM and then probably the baby-bull

sure, if pac wins a close one against jmm then even i would question him going up to fight diaz or hatton but i have a feeling he'll change the minds of most if not all of his doubters come march. he hasn't been up against a challenge since the morales rematch and pac always puts his best performance whenever he has something to prove. 2008 i feel will be his best year.

Re: Manny Pacquiao draws up 2008 wishlist which includes a bout with Hatton...
I don't think Pac-Hatton is crazy at all. In fact, I've been calling for that fight (and picking Pac) since he started coming into all his fights at 145 a year ago. There's really not that much of a size difference.
Obviously, he has to get past Marquez first, but I think Marquez is on the decline -- his defense has definitely dropped off significantly since the first Pac fight. I think Juan Diaz is the toughest fight out there for Pac (that's right, tougher than Hatton), followed by Guzman.

"Relax and KY yourself out of Pac's @ss" (WoW!!! Did you really say that!?)
Addicted to Boxing...Pac is my favorite fighter but I am in no way one of those people that think he is God. If you look at my post history, I always talk about his weaknesses and know he can be beaten.
"So slow down enjoy the ride with some fellow pinoy posters on a Jeepney and try some humility !!"
HUMILITY?! I have always given credit to those who expose Pac's weaknesses and not made any excuses for him. I even became a fan of JMM and became a bigger fan of Morales cause of what they did to him. Not to mention that I think JMM can beat him and that this is the most nervous I am for him before one of Pac's fights.
I have never been one to take my posts to a childish level but if you want to take there, YOU need to RELAX and change your damn tampon before the blood seeps out and stains your underwear.

Simple! During the fight, Junior Witter or Paulie Malignaggi can hop into the ring and hit Hatton with a chair ala WWE style. It would be great cause it would start the hype for Hatton vs Witter/Malignaggi. Other than that, a miracle...

Re: Manny Pacquiao draws up 2008 wishlist which includes a bout with Hatton...
Pacquaio is a great fighter. A fighter I personally have voted against and criticised in the past, but great nonetheless.
His achievements thus far in boxing have merited him a place in the HoF, a place among ATG Featherweights and perhaps the title of greatest ever Filipino boxer.
However, once again I take isue with a PAC career choice. Why does he feel the necessity to travel north to 140? Should he defeat Juan Manuel Marquez and capture even an alapahbet title at Lightweight then he is assured of his place among the ATG's. I cannot understand why he would extend himself spo far physically and risk tarnishing a great career (which will be the case if he gets KO'ed)

I think he wants to go for it for the money basically. He would earn an absolute fortune from fighting Hatton....and if he loses, so what? Ready made excuse (he aint a light-welter).
I don't think a loss to Hatton at 140 will harm Pac's legacy that much.
And imo a Hatton win is not a formality.....far from it infact.
-
Re: Manny Pacquiao draws up 2008 wishlist which includes a bout with Hatton...
Whilst I agree on the money issue and indeee the excuse I disagree on the other two points.
I feel it is inevitable that Hatton will triumph and if that win is in a brutal fashion then It may cost Manny in terms of his memory.

I don't honestly think there would be that much difference in size come fight night tbh. That has to be the main contributing factor supporting a brutal Hatton victory.
So that's why i think it would be a good fight.....especially good to watch.
From Ricky's point of view it is definately worth looking at.....considering that Witter is the only viable 'worthwhile' fight at 140 at the moment. Paulie showed on Saturday that he isn't ready for Hatton.
So other than the alphabet boys there aint anything at 140 for him.....until Juan Diaz and Pacman step up....if they do.

I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see Pac win by KO. Even if the power doesn't carry to 140 though, he's *much* faster than Hatton, and (though it's not particularly good), his defense is better. We all know Hatton's defense is severely flawed. But honestly, I can't think of another fight I'd rather see Hatton in -- except maybe Juan Diaz. Like Ono says, the only reason to pick a Hatton blowout is that you think he'd have a big size advantage. But he wouldn't.

Pacquiao moving up to fight Hatton at Jr Welterweight is a ridiculous choice.
pac might have started off at flyweight but you seem to be forgetting that he turned pro at 17 years old. he was still a growing boy. he's gained mass over the years and is fighting naturally heavier as he gets older.
He was at Flyweight until he was about 21 years old.
the reason he's jumped several weight classes a couple of times cos he's been struggling to make weight.
