Miranda reminds me of .......................
I watch the Pavlik - Miranda fight and couldnt help but think Miranda reminds me of Fulgencio Obelmejias , in fighting style, both big punches who dont have great defences and wing bombs until the final bell goes or they are KOED.
wot do you guys think of this comparison , and do you have any other active fighter who have a mirror image in the past ??
watch Hagler V Obelmejias and you will see wot i mean :)
look forward to your views guys.

He reminds me more of John Mugabi, big punch, good chin, limited. In fact i could see Miranda's career going similar to Mugabi's. With Miranda getting a lot of KO's against mediocre opposition but never beating the elite fighters.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Quite similar to Chris Eubank as well, big puncher, not quite the same amount of boxing skill or chin though. Not much of a jab neither.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Dont judge Pantera on just the Pavlik fight. He was not himself. Watch the Green fight and hopefully he will look great this Friday night too.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Miranda reminds me of Nigel Benn. And Ricardo Mayorga. Brutal, primitive sluggers.

Not to pop your bubble mate but.......He was not that great in the Green fight either....Allan helped contribute to the win.....Hell he was more intent on hoping he did not get ko'd then anything...Had really nothing to do with Edison himself....Not that I dislike Miranda but fact is fact

Not popping any bubble here. I respect your opinion, but IMO he boxed very well in that fight. He stayed away from Green except for one big shot. We will see. I think he will come back and prove many of you wrong.

You know if your going to buy Miranda's excuse that he wasn't himself for the Pavlik fight than you should also buy Green's excuse that he wasn't himself for the Miranda fight. So based on that, the fact that Miranda went the distance and got dropped by a fighter with serious health problems isn't to impressive.

I believe Allan had health issues. I just dont think they effected him nearly as much as what happened to Edison. Again, just my opinion.

Green had issues that required him to have major surgery. Miranda was what? Weight drained? Had a little cold? I think Green was clearly more affected by his problems than Miranda. Come on, don't let your love for Miranda cloud your judgment.

Ah leave him alone VD. Let him have his opinion. Miranda is a bad ass, Green is a jerk. Simple as that.

Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
i see the Mugabi and Benn comparison are understandable but he does throw punches and position himself more like Fully Obel :)

Watch Allan Green walk to the ring against Miranda, he was dancing all the way out. Watch Miranda's walk to the ring against Pavlik, Edison looked like he was going to a funeral.
If you can't see the difference than take off the blindfold.

I like both you guys. But honestly the ring walk as a barometer for how a fighter feels and does in the fight? Come on bro. Thats absurd. Look at Spink's ringwalk b4 being knocked the hell out by Judah?

Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
If you know Miranda than you know how pumped and cocky he is everytime he comes into the ring. He was not himself that night in Memphis. Hey, it was not just me that saw it. I had probably 10 calls on my cell asking what was wrong with him before the fight even started.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Miranda is a lower class compared to Pavlik the sooner you come to terms the better when it comes to that fight.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
I used to like Pantera as a poster, but these excuses are just getting ridiculous. Green had legitimate excuse with health problems yet you say he wasn't as bad as Miranda ?? what an absolute joke. If Miranda would of won we wouldn't be hearing any of these excuses, just stop making excuses and get over it. One of my favorite fighters lost recently aka Barrera, did you see me making any excuses ?? nope i made a thread giving Pacquiao his props. I can understand Miranda is your favorite fighter and you had to take time off Saddo's when he lost but jeez Pantera i thought you was better than this, all these petty excuses are just making you look like a fan boy. And saying Green's health problems wern't as bad, when Green had to have surgery and it was a legitimate excuse, is quite shocking from you Pantera.

I am saying that on fight night Miranda, too me, was in worse shape than Green. Shit, if Allan was so damn bad off than why did he fight one more time before he had surgery?? I was at both fights... I have been to all of Miranda's fights. Yes, fair and square, he got in the ring and took an ass beaten from Pavlik. And I am not saying he would have beaten him in any health.
I'll I can tell you is what I saw first hand, and Miranda was not himself that night in Memphis.

Not that I agree with you on Miranda, more like an excuse to me, but I've wondered this about Allan Green too.
Also its certainly convenient that, according to Green, the last time he was truly healthy was the Jaidon Codrington fight. Bullshit.
And when he didn't perform that well against Williams oh well he had the flu in training camp. Maybe its not bullshit, maybe he is just one of the sickliest motherfuckers to walk the face of the earth ???

Miranda dominated most of the fight and knocked Green down twice in the last round. Green mentioned afterward that moving down to middleweight was a major factor in his lack of aggression. He did, however, manage to floor Miranda in the eighth round, but failed to capitalize on the opportunity. Green stated his intentions to remain at super middleweight after this fight.
Green returned to the ring in July of 2007, disposing of Darrell Woods in one round. Days after this win Green underwent major surgery to remove 85% of his colon. Green has stated that the illness caused him problems as early as the Miranda fight.

I don't think he will win any version of a World title at Super Middleweight, the talent is too good at the moment, i mean guys like Bute, Kessler, Mundine, would out box Miranda comfortably IMO.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Well there are alot of belts who holds th wbo maybe he will win that one. Imagine if he fought Bika what a barn burner i may get Pantera mad but i think Bika knocks Miranda out.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Because Calzaghe is gone so who is the wbo champ that is why i asked who is.

If Sven Ottke can knock Mundine out COLD, then God knows what Miranda would do to him if he caught him with one flush. Which in 12 rounds is quite a good possibility.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Other than Kessler and Calzaghe, I think Edison beats the rest. Tough fights, but pulls out the win. Kessler would be tough and until I see more from Pantera I cant see him pulling that off. Calzaghe is a whole different animal. He would have to catch him with a big right to have any chance.
-

I wouldn't bet on Bika knocking Pantera out; though someone is going to sleep, that is almost a certainty. Bika gets a little wide with his shots, and alot of the time. Miranda, though somewhat crude, isn't as sloppy as Bika IMO and Sakio can't take too many big shots from Miranda without going nighty night. Would be a hell of a fight though.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Well i can see Miranda grabbing one of the belts but Bute and Kessler i think beat him. Calzaghe is done when it comes to the SMW divsion and I think Bika fight is a toss up but i pick Bika.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
Well Bika has the power i think Legion and if it goes to later rounds i think it will happen. Bika chin is pretty amazing i mean the shot he got caught by in the last fight i still amazed Bika made it.
-

That was from a temple shot, even if your facing a light puncher if you get caught with a good temple shot its lights out. Plus that was only Mundine's 10th pro fight and he was clearly winning the fight until he got stopped. Plus i think your forgetting Mundine took Kessler's punches flush who is a pretty good puncher at Super Middleweight.
-
Re: Miranda reminds me of .......................
But Bika was almost out om his feet there a few times. Does Codrington have near the power that Edison has? How hard does Bika really hit? We know Green destroyed Cod with one punch.....
I see Edison win the one without much trouble.

I'm sure he has the power, I said someone would get ktfo; I'm just saying he gets a little wide, alot, with his shots, and seems to invite big hits. His chin is solid, no doubt, but how solid with a murderous puncher like Miranda would have to be seen. All I'm saying is I wouldn't even make a prediction on that fight, other than someone is getting laid out ;D

CC back. Speaking of Miranda and Bika, I wonder if this fight will get made this year? Assuming Pantera wins against Banks, what are the other logical fights he can get made? Bika would be one I would think would get made pretty quickly, as Sakio's days are fairly numbered, and with that beast of a wife he has, he needs some bigger fights to keep her eating ;D
