How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
I was just wondering how many people stay up for fights in the US that start around 3-5 AM UK time ??. Any big fight in the US I mean for example tonight RJJ v Tito or a couple of weeks ago Paulie v Hernan or Taylor v Pavlik 1 etc
I stay up for Hatton's US fights and I stayed up for Mayweather v De La Hoya and Calzaghe v Kessler but for everything else I just watch the reply the next morning without checking the result beforehand so it's like I'm watching it live .
I find it easy staying awake and I would stay up for every big fight it's just I go to college through the week (Mon-Fri) so all Sunday I would be fucked and I might have some work etc to do.

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
Most of the big fights i stay up and watch then i go asleep for only few hours to make myself tired, then i can go back to bed at normal time the next day so i don't mess up my sleeping pattern.

Watching live is important to me. I stay up to watch e=very fight live, even when I know they'll be shit...
and have been doing for donkeys.
I used to work in a bar where ive gone through the night and into a sunday shift many a time.. for the love of boxing ::**

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
As a general rule I don't go to bed until Sunday morning every weekend. I'm always up all night even if there is no boxing.
If the fights are off then the porn is on, either way I'll be up 8)

It's only right your English asses have to stay up late/early to watch fights.
My ass has to wake up at 5:45 or 6:00 in the morning to catch the Manchester United games live all the time. :)

Makes me realise how lucky we are in Australia. West coast here the cards start around 8-10am Sunday morning. If your on the east coast (which I was was for Hatton/Castillo) it's about 10-12.
The only danger is if you've been on the turps Saturday night, sometimes you are a bit worse for wear. Other times you stay up all night and just keep going to the pub the next day.
Worst I've ever been was the hangover I dragged to the Felix Trinidad/David Reid fight years ago. I must have been 21, two hours sleep after a 12 hour tequila/beer/vodka bender. Helluva fight though - glad I forced myself to go. Not much keeps me away from live boxing - if I was in the UK I'd be a 'stay up' guy for sure.

i stay up for every single fight that i can get live on Sky. Sometimes depending what time i come (crawl) home i will check out the RBR....unusually tho! I struggle to stay up for the american fights unless i been out on the lash till about 3.30 ish then i grab a kebab...cotch down on the sofa and boom its on!!

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
Everytime there is a fight on sky or setanta or itv for that matter....without fail i stay up, drifting in and out of consciousness during the undercard and waking up just as the big fight starts.
It must be programmed into my brain to wake up at a certain point. :D

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
My Girlfriend and I wait up and watch them all the time. It was a pleasent surprise to find that she knows her stuff on the sport and has a good eye when it comes to spotting combo's and fouls!
I'd prefer to watch a fight with my Dad and girlfriend (and my bro I guess) than watch them with all my mates.

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
I normally do... for the Hatton fight I was up at 7am that day... went round to a mates to watch the fight... finished at about 6am... we got back home at 7am then I had a 10 hour shift in an hours times... didn't bother sleeping... was fun :o on reception most of the day and towards the end I kept almost falling asleep sitting up :-\
Gonna get me used to do night shifts in the fire service I suppose.

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
I always stay up because I am too afraid I will sleep and miss the fight. Sleep after the fight 6am, knackered the next day but good sleep Sunday night.

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
Every fight because although I live in England I work New York hours, so thanks to globalisation I get to watch the fights and a lot of Yankees games. And get up at lunchtime. :)

I like the A's. It's only a matter of time till Billy Beane wins them a World Series. If the Cardinals can do it with Jeff Weaver on the mound, the A's can do it.

Were Tyson fights ever on live? I seem to remember that Sky were the first people to show live fights from the States.

Re: How many of you Brits stay up for big fights in the US....
I try and stay up to watch the fights, but sometimes, like on Saturday night I either can't hold my booze long enough and end up falling asleep during the undercard, or I lose the energy and sod off upstairs anyway.
And as for plans to wake up especially for the fights....they never work.

Tyson fights were shown on world of sport and they showed the fight with Marvis Frasier. The first live fight was Berbick and they showed all the defences live. He went to Sky for the Douglas fight, if he stayed on ITV he would have been undefeated :)
Same with Naz and Eubanks :)
Lewis never lost on Sky his deafeats were on an obscure cable channel which I fortunately had and the BBC.
