I gotta say this was a silly rematch.
Predictions???
been waiting to write about this for a WHILE now..
coming into this fight, Jermain knows that he has to sort out his stamina problems.. I think JT has a good chin, and took Pavlik's punched well early, but as soon as he got too tired, he wasn't able to move enough to avoid a combination of flush bombs..
BUT with that said.. I do not think JT has the defense to go that many more rounds than he did the last time they fought, so I think he needs to really just do the same thing he did last time.. come out SWINGING.. He's going to need to score a KO/TKO fairly early to beat Pavlik.. Pavlik will eventually find Taylor and knock him out, it will just be a matter of time.. Only thing is JT needs to be a bit more cautious at the beginning of the fight, because last time he really wasn't showing any respect at all and got caught a couple of times.. So if he comes out and conserves his energy, and is accurate with his big punches, then i think he has a chance.. I don't see this fight going the distance, and for every round past the 5th-6th that goes by i think Pavlik gets the advantage more and more.
I don't know, there are a lot of unanswered questions for me.Quote:

Will Manny Steward work the fight for HBO, and if so, will he still tell us that Pavlik hasn't beaten a quality fighter?
Can Ozell "The Bricklayer" Nelson out-train (or out-swear) Jack "The Driveway Paver" Loew?
i think some people are forgetting that Pavlik was almost KO'd himself... i think the re-match is a very interesting fight!
A silly rematch ?? are you kidding me ?? this is a fight between the two best Middleweights in the world at the moment. There 1st fight was an excellent encounter and one of the best Middleweight fights in the last 15 years. Taylor deserves a rematch he was very competitive and even had Pavlik in big trouble in the 2nd round. Its a fight that all the boxing fans wanted to see so i can't understand your logic at all.Quote:

Taylor does not catch the jab with his right glove and then counter with a rising jab of his own so that will be a big problem. Because the jab was one of the keys in there 1st fight Pavlik was snapping Taylor's head back constantly then firing a quick right hand. Another problem for Taylor is the pace that Pavlik sets, Taylor has very suspect stamina and tires out quickly. I don't quite understand why though, because Taylor is in very good condition it can only be 1 thing and thats *Nervous Energy* just like in the fight with Hopkins which was a very slow paced fight. Yet Taylor run out of steam because he is fighting on nervous energy he needs to sort out that problem and quickly. Taylor has all the physical tools but i question his mentality when fighting, it wouldn't surprise me if Taylor won because he is very skilled. But i think Pavlik is too strong, too active, and his reach will be a big advantage as well.
Pavlik wins by TKO in the 9th.
I'll predict this, if Taylor is KO'd again he will never be the same fighter!
He might already not be the same fighter.Quote:

Taylor by KO, He will not do the same mistakes this time as in the first fight.
What mistakes ?? Taylor started out aggressively, he landed good shots and floored Pavlik. And done everything in his power to stop Pavlik, he used his lazer jab again, i think Taylor fought a pretty good fight. I don't think he made any real major mistakes, its just Pavlik was getting the better of the jab battle because he had more snap to the jab plus he has the longer reach, plus Pavlik put Taylor on the back foot something Taylor cannot stop. Pavlik just has the style to beat him and sometimes it doesn't matter how much you train in the gym or etc, some fighters just have your number.Quote:

I wouldnt say he needs to get Pavlik out of there quickly but he definately needs to find ways to use Pavlik's aggression against him. ''Walk him on to the shots Jermain''.
Im keen to see if Taylor has a bit more sharpness at 168 because he looked flat and crude in his last fight.
He needs to be a lot sharper and faster, particularly when pucnhing in combination.
The left hook from outside would have worked a treat had it been faster.
He also needs to ditch the looping-rights and the crude-uppercuts from outside.... Unless he's willing to work the bigger man down stairs and make the openings. Little raids to the gut would do nicely. The jab would work better for it too.
Final point. Pavlik does a hell of a lot off the jab. Which suprises me actually.
in a way i want Pavlik to win because it could set up a fight with Calzaghe which would be a mental fight.
If Taylor wins we will see a trilogy!
It wouldn't because Calzaghe will be staying at Light Heavyweight if he beats Hopkins. Then his final fight will be against Jones and i don't see Pavlik moving up to Light Heavyweight.Quote:

I think he is very capable of doing it. Neither of these guys got great defense and I think the first fight prooved that both have the capability to KO the other.
On another subject, I think if Tito wants to continue fighting, he should take the loser of this fight and if he wins that than go for the winner.
If Calzaghe defeats hopkins the only reason to fight RJJ is for the money, its only a big fight because of the name Jones once was.
He could fight Pavlik at a 170 catch weight and i dont think that would bother KP one bit as he seems like he only want to fight the best! Anyway Fighting Pavlik would be far more dangerous than fight RJJ
I think Pavlik KO's him again but takes a little longer in doing so. 10th round KO I say.
Not sure that i see your point with the silly rematch comment. That seems kinda ignorant. That was a great fight. I have JT outboxing him to a deciscion in this one with the possibility of a late KO.
The thing is,that was JT at his best,I mean he looked better than he ever did v Wright and B Hop,had Kelly hurt and STILL could not win. I chose Kelly to win the first time and I'll do so again,he's a mssive MW,and the extra 6 pounds are going to help him more than JT. Kelly via late stoppage. Don't forget,Kelly's jab and right hand were landing at will,I mean people were and stilla re talking about JT out boxing him but I thought Kelly did awesomly well, even in the "boxing" contest.Pavlik all the way!
Before the last fight I told a friend to watch the fight. He's a guy that's been in boxing for years and had seen neither boxer before.
Last week I asked who he thought would clinch the rematch and I was surprised to hear in response "Taylor, definitly Taylor."
I don't know why, but I'm agreeing.
I hope JT does do it and regains some dignity.
pavliks gonna get his ass kicked, taylor got complacent last time and showed him no respect, this time will be different story. all pavliks got is a punch and thats it.
He has the power to carry him easily in to 175. I see him retiring at that weight in 6-7 years.Quote:

considered that in his clause. Pavliks last three fights in the fashion they finished in such a demoralizing way was enough to retire a fighter who isn't mentally strong. Pavlik shouldn't be called the Ghost any more. He should be called the humble maker. He humbles his opponents.
This fight will be close to the first one, except the Pavlik knock down. They will come out throwing, each fighter will win a couple rounds, each will take some good clean shots then "BAM" in round 6, Taylor will get KOd again. ;)
That was the first time that Pavlik was ever REALLY troubled in his entire pro career.Quote:

Thing thing is...Pavlik's got one hell of a chin & Taylor doesn't.
You have to stop & think of this...Miranda is one of the hardest hitters of current date right now in the buck sixty/buck sixty eight range...Pavlik took every shot that Miranda hammered home & just bulled on through it.
He fought hard & he fougth smart in that fight. After Taylor battered him around for the second round...Pavlik worked it out & Taylor really never got back on the board.
I've been riding Pav's jock for a long time...& I honestly can say that I really didn't believe that he would beat Taylor...but then again...I've followed Taylor for the duration of his career...& Taylor now...to Taylor of old are two horses on two different paths.
Pavlik is gonna spank him. Wait & see...Jermain's probably going to still be on unfocused street & that equates to a dry stump breaking...I just want Kelly to move back to 160lbs & become our definitive middleweight champion...we've been without one for going on three years now. Three years of hand me down decisions against smaller men who should have come out on top.
I do not think Taylor has a weak chin at all. He took all Pavlik could dish out for multiple rounds until he got gassed. I think his chin is as good as Pavlik's. The difference is Pavlik got knocked around in the 2nd round when he still had reserves in the tank, while Taylor got sapped out over the long haul.Quote:

Taylor tested him more than anyone in their last encounter, and he is definitely going to come out fighting in this one, big time. That loss may be just what he needed to get his head on straight again.
HOw was someone into boxing for years without seeing JT?Quote:

But I don't think he has the skills or the mentality for it. If Taylor isn't putting the pressure on, Pavlik will still be throwing 80+ punches a round, and a lot of them are going to land. If Taylor comes out like a wildman again, he'll have a chance to land a lucky shot, but more likely he'll again be gassed by the middle of the fight and end up counted out.
Here's hoping that Burn's can make a difference.
Silly rematch how?Quote:
