If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Okay what trainer would you have in your corner if you were professional ?? eg Buddy McGirt, Enzo Calzaghe, Freddie Roach, Floyd Mayweather Sr, Billy Graham.........
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
I would have McGirt as he was a favourite fighter of mine. Billy Graham because I could live in England. Jim Macdonald would be my trainer. I also like Roach but he would work me too hard. I could have been a boxer but just do not like getting hit in the face.

Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
If i was a pro boxer i would have Micky Goldmill (Rocky i, ii iii fame) and if Micky was unavailable i would have Enzo Calzaghe, Just one more round rocko!!!! I could have been a pro boxer but i am a pacifist. Kick Hopkins ass Joe boy!!!
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Have to go with Manny Steward
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
I would have Roger Mayweather i could'nt have Enzo Calzaghe in my corner he reminds me to much of a 70's pornstar. ;D
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
I'd take roger mayweather based on pure shit talking skills :) (fighters other than floyd don't do so well under his wing imo)
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Out of the current crop I would want either Manny Steward or Sam Cologna..(I know I spelt Sams last name wrong)...
If I could pick any trainer of all time it would be none other then the late great Eddie Futch
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
I would go Mayweather Sr...he talks so much shit but there's no denying that any fighter he's ever taken under his wing has improved.
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
I'd take Roach. At least in between rounds, if sh#t is going badly, I could always keep a sense of humor by listening to him mumble at me :lickish:
I would try Jeff Mayweather out also.
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Panama Lewis because if I was taking a beating he'd bring out the water bottle that he mixed.

OK I'm gonna answer this one just as you said it, I assume you mean just having in your corner, not necessarily training you...
I'd like to have Angelo Dundee. The guy was a straight shooter, he'd tell me if I was losing and why, he has a wealth of boxing knowledge and obviously he has more than a few tricks up his sleeve that helped Ali in certain fights.

I'd take manny also. When they show video of how he trains his fighters it makes me wanna go back to gym.
I'd take both Roger Mayweather and Mayweather Sr too

For sure. Atlas is calm when he needs to be, can see things really well, tell you what adjustments to make, and is loud and gets your attention when he needs to as well. He's a very good trainer IMO. Talks a little too much, but otherwise, he's awesome.

Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
I would be privileged to have Johnny Lewis in my corner.
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Nacho Beristein without a doubt. I don't know of any trainer who's fighters are all so technically sound.

See the post above. Hee hee. Lewis really looks after his fighters and has genuine concern for them not just as fighters but as people.

Calzaghe for me.

Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??

I have to agree Nacho is a Damn good trainer...has what 14-15 world champs on his resume?...He is often forgot about when speaking mainstream for some reason.... but he is a legend without a doubt and better then most out there today.....
Anyone catch Nacho on Fight Quest last week?

Was he on the show alot or just for a few seconds? I was thinking of downloading it. As for Nacho, you're right,he does get ignored mainly because he doesn't open his mouth as much as other trainers,he lets his fighters do the talking.

Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
He was on throughout...don't know if you ever watched fight quest but he trained one of the guys on the show Jimmy Smith for his bout
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??

I watched that episode. Great episode. Only one I've watched all the way thru too. That buffed up guy, Jimmy Smith I guess you said his name is, he was pretty good. He definately had some previous boxing expierence. I was very impressed with that guy.

CC. I laughed out loud.

Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Rooney, Catskill, black boots and trunks, perfecting the bob and weave, keeping up the legacy of Cus Demato.
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Floyd Mayweather sr. he teaches the best defensive skills to his fighters, and I value my brain before anything else, the things he did with Oscar's defense still amaze me.
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Emmanuel Steward the legendary trainer of the Kronk Gym.

Great minds think alike.... :)

Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
All-time: EDDIE FUTCH
Current: Manny Steward
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
As a cut man I would go for Cuck Bodak or Hatton's cut man. It was nice how he closed that cut on Hatton's eye against Mayweather 8) .
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
For a cut man all-time it's Al Gavin
Currently it's Joe Souza or Jacob Duran
-
Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Me..I'd go for
Billy Giles - Teaches the general Camacho/Malignaggi slick style and does it well..
James Toney - Pass on his legendary style
Bernard Hopkins could really pass on alot of tricks and a training regime uncomparable to the restt

Re: If you were a pro boxer what trainer would you have in your corner??
Has anybody mentioned Lou Duva? For defense, I would have a toss up between Lou Duva (trained Pernell Whitaker), Mayweather, and Billy Giles.
For all-around skills my vote goes to Nacho Berinstain. Like someone said, he has a good resume.
