Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
I've heard rumours about a fight with him and Chris John but he has pissed me off Rocky lately after stating how he is not a super-featherweight and he feels much more comfortable at Featherwight after the Hernandez fight and then he goes and fights Juan Manuel Marquez in which he was virtually destined to lose and just fought probbably for the $$$.
Overall whats your opinion of this guy and does he have the tools to become a world champion at Featherweight??

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
I'm gonna say yes.
When JMM retires, Pac moves up in weight and Joan moves up in weight. :D

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
No. I never thought much of Juarez.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
I have to vote no as well.....decent fighter with a good chin though.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
Rocky is a good fighter who can hang with champs for 12 rounds. But that's it.
I don't ever see him being a champ.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
He should fight Guzzy for WBO.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
i remember at an interview, he refuse to be consider as a sparring partner. he says his a much better fighter to be just anybodies sparring partner. the interviewer suggested he be pacs sparring partner since his the last to fight jmm lol. either way anyone looks at it, i think it is a bad idea. rocky will help in no possible way and he'll just get pounded day in and day out. i thought the way he denied being just a sparring partner was funny ;D

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
HBO has a way of keeping some guys in the spotlight when its fairly obvious that your seeing all that there is to see.
He's a nice puncher but all in all Is straight ahead & not versatile in the least. When your biggest claim to fame is a W. over Raheem........ :-X.I just don't see It happening. But without a doubt he will get yet another title shot.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
He'll get a belt eventually I'm sure. The talent pool at 130 will soon be much thinner with the departures of Pacquiao, Soto, Guzman and Marquez.
He's got a great chance of getting a belt at featherweight if he does decide to move down.
Not every world champ is of the calibre of a Marco Antonio Barrera or Juan Manuel Marquez. Against a lesser opponent Lueveno maybe he'd have a decent shot.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
One good thing about Rocky Juarez.... he has a very solid amateur background.
Emanuel Steward told me so.... about 500 times.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
Rocky is a good fighter with the skills to be a world champion...sadly enough for him he is a good fighter with the skills surrounded by great fighters :-\...
I guess the best anaolgy would be Jerry Quarry....At any other time time in history he could have been HW champion...he justr ended up in the era of Ali, Frazier, Foreman, etc

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
Rocky Juarez is a limited,1 dimensional fighter who shows no desire or urgency in any of his big fights, all of which he has lost and has no plan b. He is a basic boxer with a tremendous left hook and heavy hands. He is also the Zab Judah of the lower weights. He'll get title shot after title shot, when he doesn't deserve it. He is a name in the lower weight classes, which is why he will contiune to get title shot after title shot. He will probably end up winning one. And no,I'm not a fan. ;D

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
No he'll never be a champ.
He's second tier really. On the undercard of DLH-Mayweather we all saw him face a fighter he was better than. He never accelerated and went for excitement or a finish.
This is similar toi how he fights with world champs, he's there participates but never excels. Therefore he wins versus second tier guys with no real impact on the front runners.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
Well I guess hw could try and beat Fena for the IBF title....
Oh and his biggest claim to fame was not his W over Raheem, it was his 1st L to Barrera.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
Their is a simple answer to this question and the answer is no! 8) Rocky is not a world champion now there is alot of fighters that held belts that are not even close to world champion, but Rocky is just a name that can't get over that hump.I think he is cursed or something :(

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
Rocky's just one of those cases where a guy for whatever reason gets chance after chance after chance. I guess cause he's a relative name and the upper level guys can look good against him because he just follows you around throwing a punch or two a round.
He'll probably get more chances, and he might win a belt if he's matched right. But I've given up on him changing his ways, I'm not saying he's as lazy as Dominic Guinn but he's similar in some ways in that he's just a guy that doesn't seem like he has much drive or energy and that's just who he is.

Re: Will Rocky Juarez ever become a world champion???
you know guys, we really can't put juarez down too much. If you look at the other champions, noun of them had to go through the elites. Juarez had to go through mab, which was a road block and then he ran into another wall jmm. Noun of the recent champions at their weight had to fight mab or jmm. Once pac moves up, jmm retires, and mab is retired for good. Juarez will more likely be champion then.

If the division gets very thin, yeah, he can win a belt. At featherweight, I would give him a good chance against Robert Guerrero, but that's it. I suspect he continues to get shots because the Barrera fights made him a known fighter and he looked very good in the first fight. That first Barrera loss was probably the high point of his career. He may grab a belt briefly at some point, but he'll never be the real man in a division and he'll most likely make his living as a gatekeeper.

I wouldn't favor him over Guerrero but it wouldn't be a shocker if he won that one.
He just doesn't have the right mindset, he's just too patient, too cautious. Remember thinking that he looked pretty good in the Olympics but just hasn't lived up to it.

I favor Rocky over Guerrero without question.....
