What's going on fellas?

Well what a night man... My girl and I head out to Temecula,CA yesterday around 3:15 in the afternoon as fights were slated to start at 5:00. Fucken 91 freeway was packed... :mad: The 5 South which I thought would be the busiest wasn't at all. Anyway...

I'll start off with the undercards:

Biggs Jr. vs. Mullins - Biggs dropped Mullins early with a nice bodyshot. Mullins fought back in round 2 and caught Biggs with some good shots.
Biggs however was too fast for Mullins and pummeled Mullins and dropped him with a sweet combination. Mullins got up but the ref. waived it off.


Lowther vs. Lopez - Lowther reminded me a lot of a young Derrick Gainer moved well not a lot of pop in his punches but technically sound. Lowther outboxed Lopez BUT Lopez got more then his fair shots in. Lopez was landing the harder looping punches but they were also very few and throughout. Good experience for Lowther cause he had live one in Lopez last night. Lowther would catch Lopez coming in while Lopez would loop and pressure Lowther connecting. These 2 kids put on a tremendous show.

Chris Arreola vs. Cliff Couser:

I just looked up Arreolas weight for last night and hes still a bit heavy. He came in at 245 on the norm. Chris is at 230 so I'm curious about that now as Chris has weighed 245 for his last 2 fights. Cliff looked like Tyson last night he had the black trunks, black shoes and he was even warming up in the ring with the Tyson head movement and gloves up. :confused:

Well what can you say about a 1 round fight other then good job Chris and that Cliff just came for his paycheck. :(

Quality mick rep up bro. just a lil question you may be able to help me with, how do things work with getting into weigh ins ? Im going to Calzaghe Hopkins, and itll be my first time in Vegas and first time at a big fight so trying to get some info.

Andre Berto vs. Michael Trabant:
Very good performance by Berto he put his punches together as usual. Moved well, Michael was game but was clearly out gunned the whole night. From the start you could tell it was only a matter of time before he was stopped. One thing that's good about Berto is that he always looks focused. I mean for the entire fight every round Berto looked like a sniper. The combinations he threw looked blazing fast in person.. Those uppercuts and hooks he threw were sickening fast. Now if only he could get more power in them.

Overall a good step up fight for Berto and something tells me 2008 will be a make' em or break' em year for him.

Couser looks more like The meek and weak version of Bert Cooper there with the back turning as opposed To Tyson Lol. Paycheck Indeed. Thanks for the Pics and first hand breakdown....A pinch o' rep yourway.

Right on Mick,Berto looks to have evolved a little and Showed tremendous arsenal,Very fast upper body and very nice accuracy. I think his legs and footwork will need the work next.He Just looks so heavy on the front.....led feet?Had the perfect opponent who just seemed content to play the sponge role. When He gets backed up I think he'll have some problems but he's still building.Imo,still not ready for Tony and the top teir guys.

Paul Williams vs. Carlos Quintana:
(WBO Championship)
As the fight took off and Carlos won the 1st two rounds straight the talks in the crowd was how in the hell is Carlos catching Paul with that left?
One thing that a guy behind us said was 'From the 3rd round and on it's gonna be all Paul'.... I believed him even after that 3rd round since Paul won that round... Even rounds 4,5 & 6 were pretty close but even then I think Carlos won at least one of those 3 rounds. He landed the harder cleaner punches throughout the whole night tagging Paul with crips lefts and rights. Something that just really impressed me and left me at awww!
Was Carlos cutting Paul over BOTH eyes.... :o I mean really by show of hands who here thought Williams would end up bloody with 2 cut eyes and a mouse under one of the eyes?
It was an exciting fight from round 1 all the way to 12 rounds....

Mad props to Quintana I mean really this dude fought his ass off... He stuck it out and took Pauls best shots. Moved and circled around picking his shots... One thing I noticed a alot was how easily Quintana picked off Pauls shots with his left glove. Pauls punches were looping which is strange cause if you see the Margarito fight he threw straigh crisp punches but here against Carlos he was looping and as I've said long ago he slaps his punches. While Carlos threw every shot with conviction and bad intensions.

The Puerto Rican crowd was crazy and kept chanting Indio! Indio! Indio!
As the fight went on. (Indio is Carlos nickname means Indian)
Very humble in their win...

All in all a great night in boxing and what a fight what a result..... :cool:

Both Paul and Carlos stock eachother waiting for the wrong move.

Carlos getting ready to throw the devastating left hand notice how far out Williams is and Carlos still managed to tag Paul as he leaped forward.

Carlos hands up and ready to time Paul, as soon as Paul misses Carlos would counter him with that left.

Paul sets himself up to land a right hook as Carlos ducks trying to make Paul miss.

Carlos lands a solid jab which suprisingly he outlanded Paul in the jabbing contest early on. At least from how I saw it from ringside I havent seen the fight on the tele yet so I'm not sure on that I'm going from what I saw.

Oooh! Oooh! Damn! everytime Carlos landed those shots and I'll explain in further detail why. I forget which rounds this happened in but Carlos lands some solid/hard as lefts and Pauls fucken sweat & vaseline flew all the way across the ring and out of the ring. Thats how far out that shit! flew out. My brother was telling me that HBO did a good job showing replays of the hard punches that both guys landed.

Paul returns the favor and crushes Carlos face with a hard straight left hand that just hurts Carlos bad.

Paul cut over both eyes feeling it now. While I'm sure his trainer is telling him that he needs to start with his jab and keeping him at the end of his punches and he needs to let his hands go.

The 12th and final round came and Paul was desperate here. Carlos fought cautious but even them tagged Paul with some good shots.

It looks like the ref jumped the gun a little on the Arreola fight. Still, does not look like a fight that wouldve answered any questions anyways. I would like to see Arreola in with a Brock/ Oquendo/ Ruiz...or maybe even a Ray Austin :confused: Just an average "good enough" heavyweight who wont be a total pushover!

Can't wait to see the Williams-Quintana fight, I missed it. I forget who said it, but someone on the forum said they would like to see how Quintana matches with Cotto again now that Quintana has some more confidence in him. I agree with that completely!

147 is so crazy right now, it is criminal that Floyd is out of the scene. The problem is, Floyd is so concerned with the number "0" that if any of these guys have a loss it will be his excuse not to fight them. Let's hope Cotto keeps that "0", it will be a difficult task with all these young and hungry top dogs in the division.

Because it was such a fucken action packed fight the whole way and Indio fought his ass off man he really deserved it and I was screaming. I'm a HARD CORE FAN and these are the kind of moments I live for....

Actually the guys who made the Margarito comment was the guy next to me. He said he felt that Carlos gave the last round to Paul and that he lost the fight in that last round... According to him. :)
