Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
About that time
Anyway I've got Pavlik TKO. Taylor consistently got hit with Pavlik's jab and right hand in the first fight and I would be surprised if he figured it all out by now. He's not really a mover, not very good feet, and I don't think we'll see him all of a sudden learn to keep the left up.
Plus I don't think his conditioning problems are all about whether or not he's done enough roadwork, made the weight correctly, etc. He's just a nervous fighter and they seem to gas out quicker. Plus Pavlik makes him fight at a fast pace and that doesn't help.
If Pavlik fights like he did after the second round, just jabbing, landing the rights, not being reckless then I don't see Jermain holding up to his pressure.
Picks. I didn't even include a poll cause then people just vote and don't say why.

Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I fancy Taylor to exact revenge. I felt Pavlik was a bit lucky to escape the KO early on and Jermain lost his head, pushed too hard and was a bit blown out when he got KO'ed. The knock down almost worked against him as I think he believed he was a far superior fighter at that point and left himself too open. I expect a cagier Taylor to win a UD.

Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I'm sure i'm in the minority, but i'd vote for Taylor..
He has the goods to beat Pavlik, we all know it, and i think he will do it this time.. I know that some people sort of discredit Taylor's knockdown because Kelly blatantly sticks his face out to get hit, but what is important is what happened the seconds before Kelly's stupid move.. The fight was moving along, and BAM Taylor hit Pavlik with a hard right hand and sent the sweat flying off of his face, wobbling Pavlik.. My point is that even if Pavlik didn't stick his face out and get knocked down, he was still hurt, and still in danger.. If Jermain can get him in that position again, he WILL finish this time, that is a guarantee..
My prediction would be Taylor by KO/TKO, simply because i feel that is the only way he will win.. I say this because sooner or later Kelly WILL find Taylor with a straight right and knock him out if Taylor doesn't KO Pavlik beforehand.. I do not see this fight going the distance at all, considering the way these guys go after each other.. I predict Taylor by KO/TKO within 5-6 rounds.. If this does not happen, then Taylor will most likely get KO'd again, but I will stick with the former for my prediction.

Obviously I don't agree too much with most of your prediction but I do agree that Taylor has a much better chance at a KO than a decision. He can hurt Pavlik so its not crazy to think he could get a stoppage. But I don't think he's got the stamina or defense to hold Pavlik off for 12 rounds.

Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Taylor TKO 10 not sure why cause im routing for Pavlik but have a funny feeling that Taylor will have his number in this.
Bring on the trilogy!!

Me too. Taylor inside the distance.

Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Also, genius move making this fight a PPV.. obviously anyone who saw the first will pay to see the second.. but im SO PISSED that it is cause i was hoping to get another free (well HBO) card :(
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Taylor, not sure how just have a feeling he'll beat pavlik this time to set up a trilogy
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Pavlik wins by knock out in the 7th again.
Taylor will never be the same after this.
:-\
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I am going with Taylor on this one...IMO a lesson was learned..he did his work in the gym without shortcuts and he is ready for business
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
;) You know what , last fight were by KO , but now Taylor going take care , so now this fight in my opinion going be by UD Pavlik;D;D
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
All that I see being different this time is Taylor more cautious trying to save energy.. but he always looks ropey at the end.
Obviously he can hurt Pavlik, but he wasted a golden opportunity to finish him last time. Will he get a good chance like that again? Doubt it.
Pavlik by late KO.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I predict this one for Pavlik again, but something tells me this one is going the distance. I just predict Taylor will be a little more defensive minded and gun shy. It will still be a good fight though.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Pavlik KO. He was too strong last time and he'll be even stronger now. It could be Pavlik by decision if Taylor decides to run all night and fights super defensive. I could see him doing that and praying for the judges, always friendly in the past to bail him out.

Welcome aboard... Have some Rep. on me!
I'm just wondering how you figure that? He only got caught when he showboated... You think he's gonna make the same mistake twice? No... Plus the 6 ponds is in Pavliks favor due to his naturally larger frame:-\

Going back to my post on page 1, Pavlik got "knocked down" when he was showboating, that does not mean if he didn't do that he wouldn't have gotten knocked down.. Jermain hit him with a hard ass right hand and Pavlik was on weak legs.. showboating or not he was hurt and Taylor was still coming with a ton of punches.. as i said, Taylor is getting discredited because of Pavlik's stupid showboating, but Taylor DID land a big punch without Pavlik showboating, and Taylor followed up with it.. Pavlik didn't get knocked down cause he stuck his chin out, Pavlik got knocked down cause Jermain landed the punches..
Anyway.. Come to Providence Sat night and pitch in on this $50 PPV ;D

Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I wouldn't count Taylor out but I gotta think Pavlik by KO. Jermain is taking this fight too soon. Pavlik KO 5
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
i sense if taylor gets to him like he did in the 2nd round in there first outting this time he'll maybe finish him, but pavliks a warrior and has the upperhand due to his punching power, taylor knows he can get stop by him so may be to caucious................ whatever it should be another great fight even tho we all know rematchs tent not to live up to there first fights
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
pavlik will knock his bald head out just like last time, and i like jermain
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I'm picking Taylor too, but I hope I'm wrong. I think he'll scrape out a close UD/SD because he's going box/run most of the fight this time IMO.
Despite the 2nd round of the 1st fight, I had Pavlik ahead by a couple rounds at the time of the stoppage, so I am surprised to see so many pick Taylor.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I'm going with Pavlik by KO but I think it's gonna be a tough fight. Taylor almost finished things in the 1st fight & I believe theres ever possibility he could end it this time around.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I am going with Pavlik TKO/KO in the mid rounds. I think it will be another good fight, but Kelly will come out on top after pressuring JT every round. And JT will win a couple rounds before going to sleep again. Kelly will use his jab and straight right better in the earlier rounds this fight and hopefully won't get caught like he did in the second round. He took some brutial shots in the 2nd, but luckly weathered the onslot.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Im going to go with JT by UD. Taylor was winning the fight IMO up untill he got KOed. I think last time he fought Pavlik he underestimated him a bit as well as wanting to prove he can be an exciting fighter after the critisism he was getting and he got too excited when he had Kelly hurt and wasted far too much energy. Im glad he has got rid of Manny Stewart out of his corner because i dont think he had the ablity to make JT fully apply himself in training and Taylor clearly wasnt listening to him in the corner during the fight.
This time around i see Taylor fighting a cautious fight pick his spots and keeping his gaurd up at all times. I dont think it will be an entertaining fight more like a tactical chess match as Taylor will be reluctant to mix it up after what happened last time. I wouldnt be suprised if we get a 12 round snore fest just my 2 cents tho
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
When one guy wins by KO, and there's an immediate rematch, it's very hard to go against the guy who won the first fight.
Pavlik enters this fight knowing he can take Taylor's best shots and get back off the canvas, while Taylor's last memory in the ring is of getting knocked nearly unconscious in the corner by Pavlik. It's asking a lot for Taylor to get over that mental hump in only a few months.
Vazquez was able to come back after a TKO loss and beat Marquez in the second fight, but he was never knocked out in the first fight, he just had to quit because of the broken nose.
Pavlik by mid-round TKO again.

Just curious, when have you seen Taylor fight an "on your toes" defensive fight? And also, when has Pavlik ever been involved in a snore fest?
never and never..
Taylor was getting hit with Pavlik's shots in ROUND ONE of the last fight.. watch past the first half of the round.. Taylor did come out a bit eager, but that was not why Pavlik was connecting.. He was connecting because Taylor just really isn't that great defensively.. He has to add more head movement, and move laterally more, but he will still get caught with Pavlik's shots.. Remember, Pavlik isn't really considered slow either.. clearly much slower than JT but not too slow to connect on an average defense of Taylors.. NO WAY will this be a snore fest, and no way do i see Taylor avoiding Pavlik for 12 rounds.
How would you feel if you almost KO'd the guy you're about to get into the ring with (knowing that you blew it).. would you go in there and try to last 12 rounds with him cause he KO'd you? Or would you go in there and finish him this time? Taylor is going in there to fight, not to be tactical.. he'll be a bit more composed, but he will be firing on all cylinders.. guaranteed

Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
I think Taylor wins by decision this time. It was a close fight last time with both fighters hurt. I got a feeling.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Tough call imo... Mainly because it's hard to know what to make of the immediate rematch.. Sweetpea has a good point that it's hard to pick against a guy who just won by KO, however I get the feel that Taylor wouldn't have taken the rematch if he didn't know he could do some things better. Also I think the notion that Pavlik can take Taylor's best shots is a silly point of reason. Neither of these guys can take too many hard shots from the other. Perhaps Taylor can't knock Pavlik clean out, but Kelly isn't tough to hit and Taylor had him on queer street big time the first fight, and early too. If that situation does arise again where he hurts him, it would only take some fine tuning in training camp in order for Jermain to capitalize on it and put him away this time. If he'd mixed up his shots a little, went to the body and head, he probably would have finished Kelly in that second round. Maybe it is just his mentality to throw the gameplan out the window in that case though. We know he has trouble sticking to a gameplan in general, but he may very well be able to work on his ability to finish an opponent.. We haven't seen him need to do so other than the Pavlik fight, just due to the guy's he's been in with. I guess it is a bit of a stretch to expect Taylor to come out and make the proper adjustements, but he did do better in the rematch with Hopkins, which is the only rematch either man has been in. Hopkins is also the smarter fighter and Taylor was still able to bring a better gameplan than the first rather than Hopkins figuring him out. I think that does have a lot to do with Hopkins age and the fact he made 160 for so long and had to fight like that. Who knows, guess I'll pick Pavlik by a late stoppage, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Taylor stop him at any point in the fight. Should be a good one.

Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
It's pretty simple for me....
Pavlik TKO. :)
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Jermain will win a UD or a late round stoppage. A lot more driven, and in shape Taylor is what we'll see this time.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Pavlik can win big again to record his 10 straight KO :o the reasons are obvious.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
My chips are on Pavilk again.... I wouldn't by any means give Taylor bad odds, but I think Pavlik will just have too much when it passes the 6th round, and will have it finished by the 10th..
Dare to say, the fight could be over by 5 though, either way...
Will be a good fight..
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
i dont like that this is happening, taylor should have like 6 losses by now
i think pavlik may get KTFO but taylor may be unable to cope with a fight at SMW :D
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Im leaning towards Pavlik
Taylor honestly hasnt looked right since the B-hop fights,he might have been gifted the decisions, but he doesnt look the same anymore

I have to agree. Taylor's big chance will be early again. He's never had the defence and stamina to withstand Pavlik's barrage for a full 12 rounds. Taylor got tired fighting Hopkins when neither fighter was fighting at a decent pace, he needs to go after Pavlik and try and get him on the back foot, which seems a very difficult task in itself.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
Well as I've stated numerous times at this stage I'm shouting for Taylor, but I just can't see Pavlik denied, unless Jermaine changes drastically.
-
Re: Taylor-Pavlik Predictions
i'am going for Pavlik by ko again. As long as Pavlik doesnt stick his chin out again i can see him getting Taylor out of there by the 8th or 9th.
