Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Pavlik is scheduled to fight June 7 at MSG, against either Duddy or Trinidad. The reason those 2 are the ones being considered is simple, Arum wants an opponent who can draw a lot of fans to the arena. Both Duddy and Tito have big fanbases in the New York area.
Simple question.... which fighter would you rather see get the shot at Pavlik's middleweight title, Trinidad or Duddy?

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Defo Tito. Duddy is useless
It needs to be against a guy who will fight cuz as we saw last night , im not saying it was a bad fight but Taylors reluctance to engage made it a letdown for me .

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Tito definatley, posted that on here after the Jones fight and got laughed out of town. I think it would be a cracker and I give Tito a decent chance

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Whoever has the bigger fanbase. I like Pavlik and I want him to be as successful as possible. I like the old school attitude,I'll fight whoever. I'd lean more toward Duddy because he's more natural at the weight and because Tito has done nothing to warrant a shot at anyone(and I'm a huge Tito fan). The ONLY reason he's being considered is his fanbase,Pavlik's jab and right hand would damage him imo.
Also, another problem is Tito's father is not willing to let the fight happen at 160. He says his son cannot make the weight and Kelly showed he can fight at a higher weight.

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Pavlik wins either fight.
I would like to see Tito fade back into the sunset. I don't believe that Tito CAN'T make 160, I think he just doesn't want to make 160.
Give Duddy his shot, let him get KTFO, and then let Pavlik move on to bigger challenges.

Tito showed against Jones he still has something left in the tank, he just couldn't hurt Jones because that weight was far too high up for him. But if Tito can get back down in good shape then i fancy Tito to give Pavlik all he can handle. He has the power to KO Pavlik and it would be an interesting slugfest to see, Duddy is just an mediocre fighter with a big heart, he should of lost to an old man Campas IMO and he didn't impress me against Eastman either, so for certain Tito vs Pavlik.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Tito definitely
haven't been impressed with duddy and i believe tito would give pavlik a hell of a fight
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I do not believe that a boxer who lost a fight at a different weight in his first fight in a few years should now be given the opportunity to fight for the middleweight championship of the world.
If he gets to fight Pavlik, it is a circus.

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
tito is more of a pointless fight than duddy although they both are pointless fights. pavlik should aim for abraham.

Agreed, I want to see him fight Abraham as well....But I think Pavlik would handle all mentioned fairly easy...
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Why does everyone bring up Abraham? Is there evidence he will leave the land of mega ring entrances?
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
....honestly I rather see Pavlik beat Sergio Mora into oblivian, or as Mike Tyson would say "Bolivian"
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Lyle I agree. I think it would be a blowout on a great scale. And there would be festivity and laughter had by all....except Mora.

There is some evidence, I keep seeing quotes like this in articles..
""Abraham, 25-0 with 20 knockouts, has been eyeing a unification bout against either Jermain Taylor or Kelly Pavlik next year in the United States.""
ESPN - Unbeaten Abraham stops Elcock in fifth round - Boxing

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I'm betting Pavlik's people will try to make an Abraham fight after a Duddy or Tito bout. Those would both be more lucrative. I can't see AA vs Kelly being as big a PPV draw as Duddy or Tito. Pavlik cashes in a little before going for the unification.
I'm not convinced the King Arthur will leave the friendly confines of Germany, but who know? He should be the one to travel, considering Pavlik is the lineal champ.

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I would like to see the Tito fight, but IMO Duddy is getting better, you guys will see one day. He drinking milk and that build strong bones and a healthy smile ;D I swear Duddy is the Rodney Dangerfield of boxing No respect I tell ya...no respect...
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I voted Duddy.
I don't know about the rest of you but Duddy will do more for Pavliks career then this old ass faded version of Tito.
The sweet science part of it tells me Duddy.
The boxing fan/just fight part of it tells me Tito.
Still I voted Duddy. Plus Duddys shown a really good chin and heart in his fights mainly the slugfest he had vs. Yory Boy.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Roy Jones reckons he can get down to less than 160:rolleyes:
How about Pavlik v Jones?:lickish:
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I think that a Pavlik-Tito fight would be very interesting, but I voted for Duddy. I just feel that with Tito being gone for a couple years while Duddy has been competing at 160lbs, that Duddy deserves to more at this time.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Well one of them is well passed it and the other is IMO just not ready.
If I had to choose between the two I'd say Tito purely as a fan who thinks it would be a solid fight. Even though Tito don't deserve the fight.
I also think Tito may have a decent shot if he can make 160. If Tito wants to continue fighting he has to go to 160 cause he ain't doing anything to any of those bigger guys. But at 160 his power will still be a factor and he looked pretty sharp against Jones till he got cought.
He can beat Pavlik because even though he is a very strong and solid fighter, he is also bery basic, jab, right hand, bit of a shaky defense come forward fighter. Tito use to eat these kinds of fighters for breakfast. But this is now not then and Pavlik's work rate and intensity will most likely overwhelm Trinidad in the end. I will say this. If that was Tito who got Pavlik hurt in the seccond round of the Taylor fight, I guarantee Pavlik would not have made it out of that round.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I voted Duddy out of these to, Trinidad has done nothing to deserve
a shot, after Duddy he should be looking at Wright or Abraham.
Do u guys recon Pavlik would travel to Germany? I'd say he wouldn't
have a problem with it, his promoter might though.

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Well folks ,i dont think that fight going happen with Tito , because in the news said that Tito dont going make 160 pnd , Tito going stay at 168 or 170 pnd , if everyone want fight him it gonig to be in super middleweight. Today in News Pavlik said , if Tito want to fight me have to be in 160 pnd by Championship.Maybe is possible with Duddy.....

I agree with you on this one , Abraham is the next fight for Kelly , and it will be a good one :)

Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Now I'll be the first to admit... you should never judge a fight off a short clip on highlights.
But after seeing the highlights HBO showed of the Duddy fight tonight, it makes me really disappointed that Tito can't make 160, because even though Tito is old and way past his prime, he's still a much better fighter than Duddy.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Well that was a pretty nasty cut that Duddy got, so we'll have to wait and see how long he will be medically suspended for. He might not be cleared in time to get enough training in before the fight.
If that happens, I wonder if Arum has a back-up plan?
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Pavlik will destroy them both. Felix Trinidad has had his chances and is shot. Pavlik is far too big for him.
Let Duddy have a shot - he won't win but at least he is hungry.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I went for Tito because i think Duddy is a dud, can Tito make 160lb? He better start training now! A fit, focused Tito at 160 would give Pavlik a tough fight. I would rather see Pavlik V Abraham but i doubt this will ever happen.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
I rather see him fight taylor again.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Why isnt Winky being mentioned as an opponent for Pavlik? He's available and back looking to fight at middleweight where he belongs. Thats a tougher matchup than Tito or Duddy, and would carry more weight on Pavliks resume.

Correct, where is Winky anyway?
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Duddy.
He's more natural at the weight.
And he leads with his nose, so there would be some excitement.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Probably Duddy , i guess that Tito maybe fight Taylor in super middleweight........
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
i would like to see Pavlik vs. Sturm. a long while back everyone was talking about him so much. If Arum is trying to get a good name/boxer to fight Pavlik why not Sturm. i think it will be a good match.
-
Re: Who would rather see Pavlik fight next... Tito or Duddy?
Ideally it would be Winky, that would just be a fascinating fight and even being the huge Winky fan that I am, I'm just not sure which way that one would go.
Out of Tito and Duddy, obviously I would rather see Duddy. You're basically paying either way to see a public execution in one way or another. Given the nature of how he fights, I think Duddy, while maybe the lesser fighter then Tito, would have more to return to Pavlik so I would pick him.
