Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
In the news, Cotto in an interview said that he is open for unificate any Champ. challenge and most of the times see that Mayweather put excuses for aviod challenge him , also argumented that Cintron maybe not confront him and also he know that Quintana dont want a rematch with him because they want to stay like Champ.for a while and get some another fight that isnt be with him. After all said too that he not subestimate Gomez , he always prepare for the best condition for anyone.

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
.....yea stand in line, who hasn't said this. Everyone floyd hasn't beaten or should i say fought yet claims the same thing. It's a never ending cycle. These guys eventually convince enough people that they can beat floyd get our hopes up ...floyd beats them and we start all over again.

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
Thanks for the translation. I agree with him, I can't see Quintana wanting a rematch. If he can't get Floyd right away, I'd love to see him fight the winner of Margarito/Cintron, that is if they want to fight Cotto.

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
Cotto better hope he stays "avoided" for at least the rest of the year. By then he should be ready. It will be a great fight...

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
I read the article in the local newspaper. The thing is... this isn't like Cotto. He normally doesn't trash-talk anybody or claims that anyone is avoiding him. He must be really frustrated by Floyd choosing a (boring) rematch with Oscar rather than a fight with Cotto. And I can't say I blame him.
("Him" being Cotto for being frustrated and Floyd for ducking him.)
;)

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
I wouldn't doubt that PBF is avoiding Cotto. Miguel is a murderous puncher probably a natural 154 pounder or even a middleweight but his hard training has his at welterweight and he's scared of NO ONE....he'll throw hands with anyone and get the better of them!
I think if he fights Shane Mosley again he might KO Shane...not because he hurt him bad in the last fight but because fighting Miguel takes so much out of a fighter physically.
Personally I think Floyd is waiting for Miguel to lose to say "See I knew he wasn't worth fighting"
Miguel Cotto is the Ivan Drago to Floyd's Apollo Creed

Why every time this topip emerge you always say stuff like how Great floyd is since you already know that Cotto has been more dominating at 147 that Floyd. Mayweather is a great champ but in my eyes since he is calling himself the BEST 147 (notice the Bold words) in many eyes he is not. surely the best 140 and below. So if he wants to be the best 147 he has to beat the man at 147 that is Cotto.
My question for you is.... Would you like this fight to happen or not?

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
Miguel Cotto is in the same position Antonio Margarito was in a while ago before losing to Paul Williams....Miguel can do nothing to put pressure on Mayweather but keep winning vs big time fighters.
And eventually Mayweather will be the one calling out Cotto

This is just Cotto playing the game. Cotto's no dummy. He knows that he and Floyd both have a role to play over the next year or so.
Cotto's going to call Floyd out now for ducking him... and Floyd's going to blow him off... and more and more people will feel like the fight needs to happen.
Then Cotto will beat Gomez... and after the fight he'll call out FLoyd... and the HBO commentators will call out Floyd... and more and more people will want to see the fight happen.
Then Cotto will beat Margarito... and after the fight he'll call out Floyd... and the HBO guys will call out Floyd... and more and more people will want to see the fight.
And then Floyd will beat Oscar.... and the HBO guys will say over and over that he needs to fight Cotto... and more and more people will be itching to see the fight.
And then, Floyd and Cotto will sign on the dotted line, and people will have been waiting so long to see it and be so anxious, that they'll jump at the chance to pay $54.95 to watch it on PPV, and Floyd and Cotto will both make themselves a big pile of money.
That's how it's done.

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
I guess Floyd needs a 6-9 month layoff now before he fights...must be getting old. He could have fought Cotto around the same time Oscar is fighting his tune-up. He just should have made the contract with Oscar a guarenteed fight win or lose against Cotto....

Why would he do that? The Cotto fight will be worth more money after the Oscar fight than it would be before the Oscar fight.

I agree. Cotto must be really frustrated. Personally, I think Oscar deserves another chance at Mayweather. After watching the Mayweather vs ODLH fight, I really thought Oscar could have won that fight had he not faded at the later rounds.Even so, I really thought Oscar won that fight. MAyweather did not convince me in that fight that he is the #1pound for pound. He should have done better if he wanted to live with the glory of being #1p4p. Besides, I really think that this will again be another "boring" fight. Had Mayweather choosen Cotto (instead of fighting ODLH again), it could have been more exciting.

Your assuming he wins. Why? Because time is money also my friend, he's running out of his prime years. This is the smart move if he's planning on retiring soon.

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
Cotto has never called anyone. Arum makes fights and he keeps wining. in fact a lot of people want it Cotto. I remember at 140 Hatton want it no part of Cotto.
So since Cotto is so reserved this is his way of saying it.!!!
check out where it says " I WILL FIGHT ANY BIG NAME" meaning the ones that were left Floyd and Oscar

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
OH and if Oscar want to go with a bang, Go ahead fight Mosley and try to do half of what Cotto did to him.

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
to be honest he is right, he is one of the best at welterweight and people have asked mayweather about him fighting cotto but mayweather just makes excuses, instead he takes a rematch with de la hoya which basically no one wants to see. hopefully and i believe it will happen next year mayweather vs cotto happens

It can't be said any better than this. This is exactly what will happen if Cotto stays focused and beats the guys he should beat. Even though it's not really in his natural Cotto will need to run his mouth a little to help build pressure and hype. That's the business end of the sport.

I pretty much agree with all you are saying. I would also add that Floyd probably hopes someone like Margarito will defeat Cotto so that Floyd will say "I told you so..." I don't have a problem with waiting, as you indicate in your post, but I almost feel like I am being cheated in some way by a second fight between Floyd and Oscar.

You have a point with that. Floyd only has so many fights left, and it sucks to see him waste one on a pointless rematch. It makes $$$$ to him, but it screws over the hardcore fans.
I would rather see him fight Cotto, now, too, but it is what it is. We had to wait for the Hatton fight to build and now we'll need to wait for the Cotto fight.

Re: Cotto said that Mayweather is avoiding him
If Mayweather retires without facing Cotto there's no way he can go down an ATG.

My question for you is.... Would you like this fight to happen or not?
I don't think he was saying how great Floyd is.....
Think he was just explaining the situation....and i agree with him.
I think being best p4p in the world does automatically make you the best in whichever division you fight in.....regardless of who you have or haven't fought.
But in answer to your question, i'd definately love to see the fight. It would be interesting to say the least.
