Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
Sorry Hatton fans but your boy is doing all he can to downplay Witter and try to make it seem like he's undeserving but it's clear that he and his people want no part of him. Every site I go to I hear a different excuse why he shouldn't fight him and they are sounding more ridiculous every time.
They are really testing the publics intelligence and Hatton is looking worse and worse as a result. I always respected Hattons heart but at this point, it's getting tougher to defend.
Witter is the man at 140 and if Hatton wants that distinction, he has to go through him. Plain and simple.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
Yes i tend to agree , but i can see Hattons point that Witter isnt a big money option for him , but can he live with himself if he never fights Witter and Witter keeps on baiting him ????
i personally think he should fight Witter , but i think even Ricky knows its a big Risk , and i think The Lord Of The Dance has a very good chance of Knocking Ricky out.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter

Probably sums up half of the boards feelings...

 And all you Floyd fans your boy is ducking Cotto.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
Hatton is really damaging his image and realtionship with his fans by his attitude towards Witter. At first I thought it was just to build the fight up by making out it wouldn't happen but that is clearly not the case.
Hattons confidence has taken a massive blow by the defeat to PBF and I think for the first time in his career self doubt is playing a part in him avoiding Witter. Hatton is no fool he knows that styles make fights and I think he knows that Witters style is all wrong for him. Witter too knows this and that is why he WANTS the fight.
If Hatton is convinced he would win then why not take a sell out fight in the UK to put him back on the map with a win ? Hatton is rattled and the more he uses excuses as reasons not to fight Witter the more obvious it gets. If Hatton is the Warrior he tells us he is (and I used to think he was) money would be secondary to beating a guy that is making him look like a coward.
Such a shame if the fight does not happen because the clash of styles would make such a great fight. Come on Ricky give the fans what they want !!!

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
hatton i agree is at the moment. just wait till they do fight i hope hatton knocks witter the fuck out
-
Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
He is avoiding Witter, but I have no idea why...he already fought the slickest boxer on the planet in Mayweather...I would think a fight with Witter would give him a good tune-up for a rematch with Floyd.
But then, if he were to lose to Witter, then Hatton wouldn't be the top dog in the UK anymore.
-
Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
yes he is avoiding him as much as i hate to admit it

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
I've never been a Hatton fan nor hater. Tho I've always admired his down-to-earth attitude and his courage. But I think it's time he fights Witter. He'll win/keep more fans if he fights Witter and gets KO'ed, that if he keeps avoiding him with lame excuses. Witter has called him out. Go get him.

My Sig is on Witter. I have been saying this long before the Floyd fight vs Hatton.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
So long as Hatton does not fight him there will always be excuses. For me I think Hatton deserves flak if he does not face Witter. Until Hatton retires without facing Witter then i think people should lay off him a bit. The fight would be bigger if it was for a unification and Witter has a bit more of a name for himself in the states.
Hatton v Witter in unification in 2009.
I will wait to see what Hatton is like before I call the fight but I would favour Witter at this moment in time.

I think Hattons chances against Witter diminsh with time and each fight he has. I think Hatton has peaked as a fighter - his style just does not make for a long career and if you add that to his life style when he's out of training....:drinker:

I would love to see Witter vs Paulie

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
Ricky Hatton's lawyer has hit back at Junior Witter's latest attempts to secure a domestic light-welterweight super-fight by dismissing the potential showdown as "a waste of time".
Williams said: "Ricky has got numerous options to pursue. He is being courted by every big promoter in the US and we have options like Manny Pacquiao, Juan Diaz or a rematch against Floyd Mayweather.
"Why is he going to fight Junior Witter when he can fight any of those guys? In our opinion Junior brings nothing to the table. Unless things change dramatically there is no way he is going to fight Ricky Hatton."
HATTON LAWYER DISMISSES WITTER | Sporting Life - Boxing News | Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins, Amir Khan, Fight Reports, Klitschko v Ibragimov, Ricky Hatton, Floyd Mayweather.
Hatton's next fight will be against somebody he can easily beat. After that it's going to be straight back to the big-money options with Witter a fallback option if he gets a couple of defeats in a row or something. Even then it's unlikely as if Witter wins it makes Hatton's career look a bit fraudulent. It's a risk Ricky doesn't have to take so he won't. I'd almost like to see whoever fights Ricky next to knock him out too so that he eventually has to fight Witter.

Is it me or isn't Hatton still the man at 140? To be the man, you should have to beat him, and nobody at 140 can claim that distinction. Hatton will fight him eventually, but why fight someone who winds you up when you just lost your head against the last guy that pissed you off? Let him come back, get a title and then lets have unification.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
I've said it before and I will say it again, Witter fans don't know what they're talking about.
Name one reason why Hatton should face Witter ??
Because Witter holds a nice shiny green belt which says world champion on ??

I doubt Hatton really wants a rematch with Floyd. He got his ass kicked once already.
I don't see any problem with Hatton not wanting to fight Witter this spring. After a big KO loss, it's acceptable for Hatton to want an easy fight to get back on track.
After this fight though, if Witter is the biggest offer out there and Hatton turns it down for a lesser fight, then I think Hatton is open for criticism.

Because Lacanzo is a ranked opponent and a good name after coming off a crushing first loss via knockout, Hatton needs to build his confidence up and get that winning mentality back.

But according to you and Hatton's people Witter is not that good. And he's ranked higher than Lazcano. So why not fight him?

Because Hatton is coming of a crushing KO loss and Witter is full of confidence.
Ever heard the saying a confident fighter is a dangerous one??
Hatton WILL fight Witter, he just needs to regroup after the loss.

But Hatton says he wont fight Witter . If he said " someday I'll fight him " people would get off his back but it looks like Hattons waiting to get beat again then retire having never met his locak rival
Names like Floyd , Pac , Diaz etc are mentioned and that Hattons excuse so why is he mentioning Lazcano ? Witter would be a better fight .

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
Another thought: Hatton has been spoiled financially his whole professional career. He just made mega millions in a fight with the number one fighter on the planet. He is not short of a quid and could walk away today with no cares for the rest of his life.
Where is he going to find the motivation from? We know he likes a bevvy...
Hatton has the ability to rule 140 for a while, but does he have the desire?
After Tszyu lost to Vince Phillips he was ordered to pay his old promoter nearly $4 million - at that stage I'm guessing Tszyu's best purse would have been around $250000.
My point is that after defeat Tszyu put his head down, bum up and WORKED FUCKING HARD, if not for the glory then at least for the coin - he needed it.
Can and will Hatton do the same?

I think he should fight Witter because Hatton claims hes the number 1
light Welter, but next to Hatton Witters the man in the division, that shiny
green belts also the best one to have and when the champion is willing to take a 30% share it seems a logic choice of fight, unless hes scared he
could lose...

Phil I could turn that around and say Mayweather says he's the best at WW and next to Floyd is Cotto and yet Mayweather won't fight Cotto and yet Hatton has said that the Witter fight will happen when he's ready i.e got confidence back, read the first article I posted.
Mark my words Witter v Hatton will happen.
-
Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
Phil I think that statement is lame.
"That shiny green bet is the best one to have". That's bullshit and whether it's IBF, WBA whatever there all the same.

Hatton said "I'll fight him when I want to", that means he'll fight him when his confidence, motivation and desire is back.
Floyd Mayweather said "I ain't calling out any welterweights" now that is someone that is scared to fuck.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
these two should have really already fought, they should get it on while theres still juice in the fight, an interest that fans still have in a fight between them. with hatton exposed as 1 dimentional against mayweather and witters advancing age the interest wont last forever .............. sadly its hatton who doesn't want the fight, i have great respect for hatton but if he doesn't fight witter then maybe he's not the hatton of old

Every fighter is confident. If there not than they shouldn't be fighters. Hatton needs to fight Witter. He don't need to fight Lazcano. Jermain Taylor got knocked out pretty bad. What did he do? He went right back at Pavlik. He didn't take no tune-up. Plenty of guys get knocked out and take big fights right away. I guess Hatton ain't one of them. Fucking coward

Floyd should definitly fight Cotto, Cottos earned his shot and should get it. Im not hating on Hatton, i would have loved to see him beat Floyd,
but with Witter he's always avoided him, he used to say Witter brings nothing to the table but now he has the WBC belt, I know your a huge Hatton fan but try look at this from a neutral point of view, if Hatton was real confident in beating Witter he would have done it by now instead of finding excuses to not fight him.

Plenty don't and the only coward round here VD is Mayweather for ducking Cotto.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
Every single press release the Hatton camp makes about Witter puts me more off him. Used to really like Ricky, but they're just taking the piss. They say there's no interest in a Witter fight, yet they feel they have to reply to his challenges every other day. I see no other threads mentioning another fighter Ricky SHOULD fight..
The Hatton camp go out of their way to portray him to the public as a down to earth guy who hadn't changed with fame, yet they come out with comments saying that a champion in his own weight division isn't worth 30% . They think they'ra damaging Witter's bank account when all they're damaging in reality is Haton's diminshing credibility.

Lee calm down mate , I dont feel Mayweather need to fight again but if he does then Cotto is the fight for him , As for Ricky i think after his next fight and providing Witter keeps on winning then they have to make the fight , as i have said in another post only Ricky knows if hes ducking Witter , but even as a Ricky fan and a Witter Hater , it does look to me like Hattons reasons for not fighting Witter are wearing a bit thin.
Thats just my opinion.

Re: Hatton is Definitely Avoiding Witter
You have to still give the up most respect to the Hitman, after all he fought the best pound to pound fighter on the planet in december last year, not to mention the four fight contract he signed for with HBO a year ago.He signed and he DELIVERED on them terms did'nt he?!!How many fighters this day in age have fought four straight fights away from home turf and achieved 100% credibility from fans not only in the u.k but world wide,or have u forgotten about that?I'd like to see a match up with Hatton Vs Witter. It would be the most anticipated domestic fights after the major one with MACCARINELLI Vs HAYE is over and done with.Just give Hatton time to regroup and i'll asure you the fight will be pulled off sooner than you think.IT WILL HAPPEN just have more patients.
