British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Okay people.
Rhun is working this Friday so I'm filling in for him on the weekly British RBR's ;)
This week see's the rematch between Kevin McIntrye (25-5,8KO's) v Kevin Anderson (20-2,12KO's) for the British Welterweight Title. If this match is half as good as the first it will be a cracker as in the first McIntyre the underdog, schooled Anderson to win a wide points victory in which Anderson was floored in the process.
Previews to follow :)

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Okay the preview:
Kevin McIntyre - The table's have turned big for this guy. 4 out of 5 of his defeats have came by KO so has not got a great chin but he can certainly box. In the first Anderson bout he was a huge underdog but despite this showed great boxing skills, determination and big heart to win the prestigious British belt. He also showed his power flooring Anderson in the process of his convincing win. Previousley he defeated the then unbeaten 20-0 Tony Doherty and so he is without doubt the favourite coming into the fight. However Anderson had only fought a number of weeks before the 1st bout and it was clearly evident Anderson underestimated McIntrye. You wonder whether this win was a fluke and now a fully trained and prepared Anderson will snatch back his belt?
Kevin Anderson - Where do I start with him ?? Won the commenwealth title at 21 and lost a SD to Ali Nuumbembe before bouncing back with two solid wins over Eammon Magee (WPTS) and Francis Jones (WKO12). He had a EBU title shot lined up after what was suppose to be a easy win over McIntrye but the combination of underestimating his opponent and the confidence and belief in McIntyre seen Anderson lose for the second time in his career. Anderson has a good punch with a solid KO's including one over Young Mutley and scoring a knockdown over Irish toughman Eammon Magee. However he has been on the floor twice and against Nuumbembe he was outboxed through the majority of rounds. You wonder has Anderson met his bogeyman in McIntrye and will his confidence be at a low or will he learn from this crushing loss and bounce back?
The great thing about this fight is there are so many questions you can ask but my view is McIntrye will start strong and it will take a number of rounds for Anderson to get in the swing of things but once he does Anderson can be a dominant figure when up for a bout (Which I'm sure he will be for this) and boxes brilliantly with good combinations to the body and head. You also cannot ignore the fact McIntyre's 5 losses have all been by domestic fighters and none greater in ability than Anderson and so in conclusion I feel Anderson will gain revenge on McIntrye winning a narrow points victory.
Whatever the outcome it should be a great match but you wonder where the loser goes after this. Coverage to start Friday 9:30 PM UK time.

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Hey Lee, nice preview...I might catch the tail end of coverage when I come home tonight, but will probably miss the main fight.
I'll stick this up for you now, so no more searching for the thing. Personally I reckon Anderson, who is prone to having off nights, will come back strong in this one and reclaim his title. I'm just not sure how long he can hang on to it without losing it again. :p
Anyhow, good luck and I'll seeya later. And apparently I have to spread my rep around before I can give you more lefty. ;)

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
My feeling on this one is that Anderson will be 100% focused and will gain revenge. I envisage a late stoppage or points decision. I think Anderson could win this clearly, but maybe not a shutout. When Anderson is on form, he can deal with McIntyre no problems.

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
I wasn't sure what to do on the prediction contest. I mean I know shit about either of these guys, I go to boxrec and McIntyre won by like scores of 120-107 but then I come on here and a lot of the British posters are picking Anderson. I can understand if a guy overlooked somebody but 120-107  That's really overlooking somebody. I just went with McIntyre since I don't know anything about them.

Okay action to start in 30 minutes ;)

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
With the first fight, I never understoon why Anderson took the fight so soon after the Francis Jones fight, he looked wasted.
I think the length between fights will mean the jock is more focused and will ko McIntyre.

In your opinion, fair enough. I love the sport, there aren't too many games fat asses like me can play, looking forward to this fight on telly though!
I reckon Willie John McBride coulda knocked Tyson out in his prime!

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Anderson looking focused in his ringwalk to some stupid song like you get at a kids party. McIntyre coming out to an all Scottish affair with men in kilts playing music and McIntyre gets a hugh welcome with boos for Anderson.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Round 1:
fairly even round. Good shots landed from both and Anderson landing well to the body but McIntyre works the straights to the head, Anderson moving his head well and looked sharp but they both landed roughly the same.
10-10 even
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Great work by the director. He managed to get the ref, who is bigger than both of them put together, between them and the camera for at least half the first round.

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Is this happening now? Someone needs to lock the prediction thread

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Round 2:
Good uppercut by McIntyre but good solid jabs and rights from Anderson. Anderson the far more busier. McIntyre with a good body shot but Anderson comes back with a right hand and keeping the pressure on McIntyre. Round to Anderson.
20-19 Anderson
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Round 3:
Good right from McIntyre on the counter, solid left from Anderson got through, lot of grappling through the halfway stage, good body shot and jab from McIntyre, good left again from Anderson but in the final third McIntrye lands a good head and right to the body. This is damm close, I gave it to McIntyre.
29-29 all even

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
I know alot of judges go by the fighter coming forward more or the more aggressive and others the number of punches thrown or the harder shots landed ?
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 4:
McIntrye starts the round with a good flurry and lands good body shots with a right to the head. Anderson comes back with an uppercut, sharp left and a right from McIntrye and Anderson needs to move his head, 2 straight rights from Anderson jolts back McIntrye but McIntrye comes back with 2 good head shots, McIntrye's round.
39-38 McIntyre
Punch stats on screen and they have both landed 34, mighty close.

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Has either of them looked hurt so far ?
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
I think Anderson won the first 2, McIntyre the second 2 so I got it even after 4.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
do you think this is already looking like a distance fight ?
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 5:
Great round from McIntyre working well and landing good body shots with that southpaw jab, good right from McIntyre again who is starting to find his rhythm and landing a good combo on the inside, Anderson giving Mcintyre too much room, great upper from mcIntyre lands clean, Anderson works a good body and head shot in the final seconds but McIntyre's round.
49-47 McIntyre
BTW none have them have looked hurt.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
3-2 to McIntyre. I want Anderson to win. He looked a cracking little fighter previously and at 24 I could see his confidence drop if he lost again which would be a real shame.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Round 6:
Scrappy round this, McIntyre using his jab well and landing a good left and Anderson ain't loooking strong but still coming forward but not throwing enough, good body shot from Anderson, hard round to score as both missing with shots, I'll give that 10-10.
59-57 McIntyre

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Looks like McIntyre on points.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 7:
Better from Anderson, good left and right landed, and doing better starting to get through with shots, good right from Anderson to the head, McIntyre misses with a couple and Anderson works the jab well and doing a good job this round pressuring McIntyre. Round to Anderson.
68-67 McIntyre.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
I gave Anderson that round. Could be a close one, I have McIntyre 4-3 up.
-

Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 8:
Good left and right from McIntyre starting to get back into the fight after the last round, Anderson trying to get through with the left hook but missing, good body and head shot from Mcintyre inside, Anderson ain't himself from the last round, good round Mcintyre.
78-76 McIntyre.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
I think Anderson is just shat, Mcyntyre has been knocked out a few times, come on step it up Kev!
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 9:
Good body shot from Anderson and he's the one on the front foot, good 2 right hands landed from Anderson and another right landed from Anderson, good left to head and body from Anderson with McIntyre missing, round to Anderson.
87-86 McIntyre
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 10:
Good right again from Anderson, back comes McIntyre, lot of holding, good pressure from Anderson and lands a clean jab, good right from Anderson, McIntyre not doing enough here but good right and strong finish from McIntyre but never done enough for me. Anderson's round.
96-96 all even for me.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
After 10 I have it even. McIntyre won the 8th, but Anderson has taken the last 2 for me as McIntyre has taken his foot off the gas. Anderson has alot of success to the body, and should work it.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 11:
Good pressure from Anderson again but missing when coming in, very scrappy here with not a lot landed, right hand to the head lands from the champ, good jab from Anderson, very scrappy and not much clean landed, even round definitely.
106-106 amazing fight, could go any way.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
WOW punch stats come on screen and Anderson landed 91 and McIntyre landed 90 :o very close.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
That was a real sloppy round. McIntyre holding alot every time Anderson tries to get on the inside. I wanna give the round even, but a couple of decent shots from McIntyre stuck in my mind, which means Anderson needs a KO for me.
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Anderson takes the last round on my card. 114-114! Can't separate 'em. Lets have a 3rd fight please!
-
Re: British RBR - Kevin McIntyre v Kevin Anderson II - British Welterweight Title.
Rnd 12:
Good pressure from Anderson and good body shot landed, very scrappy once again and so difficlut to split, very tired both men, good work from McIntyre with a good combo, grate right and a sharp jab from Anderson. Round Anderson but very close.
116-115 for Anderson IMO
What a fight, could go either way and final puch stats on screen, Anderson 98 and McIntyre 99. We await the verdict.
