Re: Should they fight again?
Vazquez-Marquez IV. I sure don't mind it.
Re: Should they fight again?
after the rematch i though for sure they would start to show signs of slowing down but after seeing the triology these two appear to get even stronger.
I would love to see a forth, but only if both fighters agree and feels healthy enough. Not only do they physically get beat up, emotionally too. Seeing rafa in the post interview, it was clear that he was very dissapointed. He worked hard but lost a s.d., there must be a decision but to me a loser nor a winner was needed.
I can remember in the all access shows, rafa saying he needed money to pay for his bills. Man I hope these guys were the one getting real wealthy instead of the fake characters like oscar and floyd.
Re: Should they fight again?
As far as I know neither made over a million for this.
I'm not sure if they shouldn't just leave at this one, the best fight of the trilogy IMO. Could a fourth fight be better? Who knows.
But if it did happen not only would I watch it I'd probably fly out to California to see it live. I wish I had done that for this one.
Re: Should they fight again?
yea that just sickens me, these two fighter fight there hearts out and leave their blood in the ring and barely make any thing close to fighters like odlh.
to me the forth doesn't have to be better or even good. they've already given us more then any other two fighters have, i just hope they earn more in the forth or whenever they fight again. They deserve it.
Re: Should they fight again?
I don't want to see a fourth fight. I think they have taken enough years from each other. They have made very little $$$ for these AMAZING fights then you have glorified sparrin sessions earning Oscar and Floyd megabucks and RJJ v Tito in gimmicky matches making more than Isreal and Rafa. It's pathetic really.

Actually I think both did make a little over a million. But it's still nothing close to what they deserve.
Re: Should they fight again?
Sure why not, isn't boxing all about this kind of stuff, no one fighter has really dominated the other and they have all been great fights. Perhaps make it the end of the year NOV/DEC and give these guys a break. It's kind of like the old days of Robinson V La Motta and Pep V Saddler.
It's unusual to have a 4th fight nowadays but i think warranted if they are up to it!
Re: Should they fight again?
I'd love to see a fourth!!! It's the best possible match-up at & around the weight IMO!
With talk of Caballero & Deleon possibly fighting the winner would be in a great position to step in against the winner of fight #4
Re: Should they fight again?
I've justed posted this on another thread. I's say absolutely they should.Marquez's disagree's with the desicion and deservingly so IMO.I'm sure this would still big a huge attraction for the fourth time.
Re: Should they fight again?
I say no for a fourth bout. It could go on forever and prove nothing more than it has in three fights. At some point it becomes nothing more than senseless beatings.
Besides, I am sure that IV would be a PPV.

Someone should give you rep for this post.
Re: Should they fight again?
Funny you would make a thread with this question. As last night Steve Farhood and I shared some words after the fight. The answer I'm posting here is the exact same one I gave Steve.
Title Question: Should they fight again?
My Answer: I think they can both handle a fourth fight. It's us the fans who wouldn't be able to take it.
Re: Should they fight again?
As a fan I would like to see Each branch off and match against the other top Jr.Feathers.Marquez as well as Vasquez can regroup and bank these classics into well deserved and winnable big payday's ....Ponce Deleon anyone?
They have cemented there place in history but In the process engraved real battle damage to one another. The toll taken Is not now obvious but might not be far around the corner. The sheer back and forth, literally from punch to punch and the effects are unlike anything I have seen Live in my lifetime as far as trilogies. You could add 10 W's behind there names and It could not emphasis enough the winners and champions both already have proven themselves to be.
At this rate they are giving Ted Lewis and Jack Britton some real competition ;D

I second that.
Mind you, if last night's fight were taken in isolation, not as part of a trilogy, people would be screaming for a rematch. And you could hardly argue against Marquez deserving as much, should he want it. Anyway, I'd say a fourth is pretty inevitable, and hopefully they'll be paid a king's ransom for it.
That said, I've seen enough now, thanks.
Question: when these fights go to a DVD etc., will the fighters get a cut of the profits? Is it a standard part of any contract these days?
Re: Should they fight again?
No i don't think they should fight again. They had 3 great fights now lets see them fight somebody else.
Re: Should they fight again?
Yes they should and yes they will. I don't see any bigger money available elsewhere that VM4 would be worth to them so they'll fight again almost certainly.
Re: Should they fight again?
I'd love to see it but maybe down the road a bit. I think it would make for a bigger fight if these 2 went seperate ways for a few years then met back up.
Re: Should they fight again?
I agree with those who say 'maybe, but not immediately'.
There is no 'need' for a fourth fight. They gave their best, they both cemented their place in the pantheon of great trilogies, and they already have their ticket to Canastoga in the bank. Also - and both Vasquez and Marquez might disagree with me here - I sort of consider the trilogied tied, and that for me is a great way of finishing it. No, there does not need to be a winner, as there certainly does not need to be a loser among those two.
Much better for me would be if they cashed in, got some decent money against contenders (god knows they've earned this right), and proved that these two are truly the best at the weight. Which they obviously are, but at some time they need to fight other fighters to prove this still is the case.
So, I'd like to see Vasquez in with the winner of Caballero-Ponce de Leon (effectively unifying three belts (and the Ring belt)), and Marquez could go after Molitors belt. He might take on Bernard Dunne or Kiko Martinez beforehand - those would be great, relatively high profile but surely winnable fights imo.
Then in 2010 or 2011 Vasquez-Marquez could meet again, 4 (5) belts on the line, in a possible 'farewell fight' that hopefully will generate a huge ppv payday. They deserve that.
Re: Should they fight again?
I agree with Mikkel, fight others first then maybe a 4th later on. Sickens me how little money they made, these fights WILL take their toll on both eventually.
Re: Should they fight again?
they could but should they, i don't think so

Yea but Gamo...if it was signed are you saying you wouldn't tune in for it? Entertainment wise, there is little better than these two together.
Re: Should they fight again?
They should both give themselves a pat on the back for three great fights and just assume that if they fight 10 times each guy will win five for whatever reason. Both of them are too good to spend any more time fighting each other. We could damn near have fights like this every weekend if promoters decided the fans were important enough to them. There are a ton a great match up's out there.
Re: Should they fight again?
Interview with Micky Ward on ESPN and he was on the side of them not fighting again, just too brutal. I tend to agree with him but its impossible to tell how much its taken out of them.
