Who is/was your hero. The person you looked up to?

Mine was Nick Nolte. Even as a child I wanted to have the QuAlities of Nick Nolte. And now I am boozeboxer. And in law school.


I want to know who everyone's hero is, could be your dad, your pedophile neighbor, Kenneth Lay, or Aldous Huxley. It could be a man, woman, or hobbit. It could be the person you have sex with who doesn't tell everyone how bad you are at it.

Or it could be a spiritual figure, although that is cliche. But truth. And if you have more than one hero, please limit it to the most influential (or the one who helped you most at a bad stage in your life.)

My Dad

My father... (he got 2 purple hearts in vietnam)

Rocky Balboa... Sounds dumb but true... I tried harder at things to emulate him.(although fictional)

Vinny Paz... Broke his neck and was able to storm back to his winning ways... Always loved him!

As a kid, my dad. I wanted to be a civil engineer like him. But I already abandoned that idea.

As a teen-ager, Brett Favre. A great team leader.

Currently,... nobody.

My all time hero The motor City Cobra = Thomas HITMAN Hearns
i lived his fights , he is the most exciting fighter ive ever seen , awsome power , brilliant boxing skills , vulnarable chin , perfect blend for edge of seat thrills :)

My Dad, who instilled certain values in me, not by telling me, but by doing and setting examples.

A guy named Ralph who along with his wife lived next door to my parents. An older guy who served in Vietnam and was the epitomy of courage. The most giving, kind man I ever knew; and also one of the most terrifying when he lost his cool. Went through hell in Vietnam and still kept his sanity. A very sad, sad day when he passed in 2000 after a 3 year battle with stomach cancer. One of the few times in my life that I broke down; a loss that still hurts to this day.

Other then that a man by the name of Leonardo Lopez. Who kept me and 100's of other kids away from drugs, gangs and violence which at the time was taking over our community in the late 80's and early 90's.
He created a committe called "Comite De La Esperanza" which translates to "The Committe of Hope" where he build soccer teams in different age groups, he had carnivals for us, fairs, field trips, a lot of parents helped out but for the most part he was always there......
Because of him most of us steered clear from gangs, of course he couldn't save us all some did fall into those things, lot's are dead now, more are in jail.
From time to time I stop and think what IF....
What if I would have chosen to get into gangs, drugs?
I always say I'm very fortunate to have not fallen into those temptations.
I thank God, my parents and Leonardo Lopez for that...

My brother Richard, look out for me unconditionally as his baby brother but gave me respect knowing i too will grow into a man. He never pick on me, never made me feel bad, always made me laugh, and showed me how to knock a guy out with good punch.

He pass away when I was 13 though, but even after his death I can feel his presence watching over me. I use to dream about hanging out with him every single day. Our bond lived on and he never left my side.

Any boxer who's put in the effort to better himself. Thats the truth.

Guess I'd have to say my Mom, didn't spend a whole lot of time around my Dad. Always liked Bill Murray :-\

I would say that it is a menthol of a chic I ran around with. I don't smoke but I like to light them and then give them to her, when I am drunk. Someone took my pic and I thought I looked rough. lol. But as sexyboxer told me, "You are the one that looks chavy with that fag sticking out your mouth. :( "

Anyway that is awesome Ouma you look up to Bill Murray. He has been in great movies, like Groundhog Day, Rushmore, Broken Flowers, The Life Aquatic, Lost in Translation, Coffee and Cigarettes, not to mention his early comedy. A true icon. To get leading roles with Wes Anderson and Jim Jarmusch says alot to me!

Lovin' him in "Caddyshack" and "King Pin". He chews gum too along with cigarettes and coffee.:)
