I'm shocked...Roy Jones is actually willing to go to Europe for all three of those fights:
JONES SEEKS EUROPEAN TOUR WITH BEYER, KESSLER AND CALZAGHE
I think he cruises past Beyer, but Kessler and Calzaghe...I think he's faded just enough for those two guys to take him.
I'd love to see Jones in with Kessler - watching Roy Jones Jr. in Copenhagen would be a dream come true, no question asked - or for that matter Calzaghe, but this business with Beyer? What the f***?Quote:

Beatin Beyer will not prove a thing.
Beyer is way past it, I mean you could see it in the kessler fight, he has no fight left in him, it just seemed like he said "screw it", so I don't know why he's even back in the ring. As for taking on cal or kess at this stage, they're not blown up past it welterweigts and would add another L to roy's column, few years ago completely different story, but I don't think roy is back just cause he beat some amujabu guy and past it tito.
RJJ would batter feather fisted Beyer, even if RJJ punch resistance has gone he has nothing to fear against Beyer who is old and shot. As for Kessler im not too sure about that match up i think Kessler may be a bit too stiff and slow footwork wise to deal with RJJ's speed. And as for Calzaghe i would give Jones a chance against Calzaghe because Calzaghe has a bad weakness against straight right hands and thats one of Jones best weapons. Plus Calzaghe has never met anyone who is even close to RJJ speed wise.Quote:

He has nothing to lose now, when he was P4P number 1 he didn't need to take unnecessary risks. But to be fair to Jones he did try and get Dariusz to come over to USA, but Dariusz was making a lot of money in Germany so he didn't need to take the risk either. neither man wanted to leave home. Im pretty sure Benn vs Jones was going to happen but Benn lost to Malinga in there rematch so that fight lost interest. As for Eubank im sure i remember him saying he would have never RJJ because he knew he would of lost or something like that ??Quote:

Collins sought a fight with Jones for years, but never got his chance. Altrhough it is common thought that Jones would tear him apart, Collins still sought the fight offered big money and never got the match up.
And as for Dariusz, he was the linear Champion Jones had an incentuive to fight him but never did.
Just because Dariusz was the Linear champion doesn't mean he was the best LHW in the world. And that certainly doesn't mean Jones has to come to Germany and get robbed, Jones offered Dariusz a fight in USA Dariusz didn't want no part of it, and Jones didn't want to come to Germany end of. It wasn't just Jones fault the fight didn't happen it takes two to fight. Plus Jones record at Light Heavyweight was much better than Dariusz's. Fighters who gave Dariusz trouble like Richard Hall Jones toyed with. Plus Julio Gonzalez went on to totally out box Dariusz and give him his first loss, the same Gonzalez who Jones toyed with and floored him 3 times. As for Collins vs Jones i have no idea why that fight didn't happen, but there is no way Jones would avoid a fight with Collins especially when Jones beat Reggie Johnson, Mike McCallum, both fighters who beat Collins.Quote:

Ive been a huge RJJ fan his whole career, but even I'll admit to being less than impressed with the tail end of his unbeatable years. His handpiced opponents scarcely made him sweat and you really just tuned in to see how oiled his reflexes were.
But now, after his two ko losses and points loss, he seems born again. The first comeback fight in Boise was a turd against a nobody, but I thought he looked very good against Trinidad (even if Tito was too small, that sucker is fast).
I, for one, am super hyped about Roy Jones second half. Beyer will be no problem, and unless Im just overexcited about Roy (which has happened in the past) I believe he'd give Kessler, Calzaghe, and Hopkins ALL a run for their money.
Say what you will about Roy, but the man is still in great shape, with great speed. If he pulled out a UD over any of those three, it would not suprise me at all.
Actually I wasn't impressed with RJJ's speed vs Tito. He was just overpowering him. I am surprised by his sudden desire to be active and willing to travel. I don't get it. Maybe he reads the boxing boards and knows that lots of fans feel he's been in against too many nobodies and he wants to shore up his resume before he hangs them up.
I don't get it though.... Why now???

Who knows, he's been calling everybody out lately. I'd love to see him fight Taylor or Pavlik personally, but if he's big on fighting overseas which he would seem to be Kessler is probably a realistic option. Perhaps Roy Jones Jr is what's stopping Kessler from signing to fight Miranda, I hope they are trying to work something out. I think that could definetly be a great fight as well, excellent conventional vs unorthodox clash of styles at this point. Prime Roy would have played with him but now I'm not sure Jones could handle the pace. The Beyer fight would be a complete joke, but maybe Roy really just want's to have the spotlight on him in another country, I'm sure it would be an electrifying atmosphere whether he fought in Denmark, Germany or the UK. I do hope he doesn't go after Beyer to ensure a win though, would do so much for his legacy if he were to beat Kessler, which I think is possible.Quote:

He had no reason to want to travel to seek out the spotlight in 1998, because he was the best p4p guy in the sport. Not only that, Benn and Collins would have been cannon fodder for a prime Roy and Eubank even knew he would be. On top of this, there are now much better European opponents in Roy's weight class(Calzaghe and Kessler) who he want's to fight well past his prime. I think that pretty much puts a rest to him being afraid of the mighty Steve Collins.
I find jones going over to germany and watching beyer with the intention of sealing a fight a real joke to be honest. How many more tune up fights does jones need before he gets in with a genuine fighter again? I believe jones knows hes shot and hes just chasing the money now. Its sad to see a once great fighter picking of past it opposition purely for the money trinidad......beyer whos next........sven otke lol.......he is making a comeback too!
Roy jones jr second coming......a throwback.........for the worse. What he is doing is exactly what has damaged boxing over the last few years. We have seen a good couple of years with the best fighters in divisions getting it on in unification matches. Jones should retire before he gets KOed again......mind you thats not likely against beyer or otke.
