Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
Boxing News : Campbell Blasts Juan Diaz Over Steroid Claims
This is crazy. I'm very surprised that it has come to this and Campbell seems pretty confident that he's clean. If they test them and it turns out that he's clean, they should be ashamed of themselves and Diaz will hurt his reputation plenty wether he said himself or not.
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
When I think back to the fight, I think how Diaz and Campbell were slaughtering each other and you could see Campbell was fading and the cut on Diaz gave Campbell a tremendous amount of confidence and a boost that he could win when he saw the blood he was reenergized..
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
A few days can make a difference in a test like that though. If there really was no test it certainly mars the victory.
There's 2 possiblities, Nate fought the fight of his life, or Nate was juicing and fought the fight of his life. Without the tests before the fight it will remain a possibility.
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
My opinion is that Nate new that he was a better puncher and probably he only poossibility was to da what he did take the risk of stepping firmly and exchange with Diaz. If he started to move probably Diaz could win a one sided decision putting pressure thru the fight. If he used any steroid or not, I don't know, but I wish we define who is the champion in the ring. If there are questions then, I believe Diaz should fight for the rematch and try to take revange on the ring or take other beat up. Even if he win a demand and get his title back (which I am not sure will happen) he still will have that shadow over him. Specially when Diaz team are claiming that the big eye cut was caused by headbutts, but the replays show a clear punch.
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
juan ain't got no power, it was just a matter of time a guy that has heart and will to out work him. Its not like juan can punch, he was just out lasting guy not dominating them.
Im glad campbell won now juan can focus on his schoolings.
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
It going be a shame for Diaz if these test will result negative for Campbell. This is an allegation that will let know to the whole world that Diaz not even know how to LOSE....... I know that this is an stage that most of boxer cant surpass it........But against of all these Poor Campbell.......:-\
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
Hah, Campbell really rips him one in that interview. I think it's stupid of Diaz to accuse him outright, if they are concerned about their not being tested then file a protest behind the scenes, no need to come out with it when you don't know anything. I love some of Campbell's responses. "I don't need steroids to beat him cause he's not that good".
- "Now we're seeing the real Juan Diaz. The college boy, the crybaby. What makes him any difference than his brother, Jose Diaz? He got his jaw broken in his last fight and was exposed even worse. They're both kids, grow up. Move out of Mommy and Daddy's house.
Ouch.
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
is that the only evidence they got .....that he fought a great fight!!!!!!!
i mean i hate drug cheats, probably even more than the next guy but Diaz has gone down in my estimation.

A rematch is the only solution. The cut was caused by a punch, however the swelling that led to the cut was caused by repeated butts. Nate used his head alot. Diaz should have backed up and used his jab more so the headbutts weren't a major factor, but they were a minor one.
The thing about steriods is you never know what the effect was, and you can't test someone weeks later and say see they were clean a couple of weeks ago. It should have been done before the fight plain and simple and there wouldn't be any issues. It should be as cut and dried as a weigh in, you make weight, piss in a cup and get ready to fight. That procedure prevents any controversy like this, skipping that step leaves it open for debate. Knowing that Nate had a great fight and considering his age is a little bit of circumstancial evidence.
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
I agree with Campbell. Diaz is a little bitch for running him mouth like that
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
This is why boxing as a sport is failing. All the crap that is formulated. Why would Nate be on Steroids? Let's see.. because this is the biggest fight of his life so he wanted to get in trouble and blow it all and that's how he wants to be remembered? Of course not!! Nate was not on steroids... he was on a mission. This guy works hard to get what he has and appreciates life and his opportunities.. he knows he's not getting younger and seized his opportunity. Now sore losers are gonna come running and cry foul because the so-called "underdog" came in more focused and executed a better game plan beating the "then Champion" at his own game. You can't do that.. These allegations are a black eye to the sport and also to a man that worked his ass off to pull off an upset and make the most of his big moment. Why can't people understand that some people don't know what they have when they have it .. so they lose focus and belts; while others know that these chances are few and far between they appreciate the opportunity and work feverishly to accomplish the goal because they want that belt. they want a better life.. THEIR MORE HUNGRY!!! This is why they fight.. nobody is promised a win. If that was the case we wouldn't be watching and people wouldn't be betting.

Why would Barry Bonds be on steriods? How bout the olympic sprinters? Performance enhancing drugs are rampant in professional sports, people passing piss tests doesn't always mean they didn't use steriods, just that they got off with enough time to pass the piss test. I am not saying that the reason Nate won is steroids, but not having a test means the possibility wasn't ruled out.
People use steroids to "peak" prior to their performances. Sprinters are actually the most accomplished in cycling them, it's very rampant. Why would boxing be any different? If it's rampant in baseball, football, sprinting and track and field, why not boxing? Actually the stakes are higher in boxing than football and baseball so why not????
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
any excuse for getting beat
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
I'm kinda turned off by Juan Diaz more now he should just give credit to Nate beating him, for Christ's sake the Baby Bull is a former junior welter fighting a 37 year old man:mad:
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
Juan Diaz camp is absolutely correct in stating that drug test should have been given to the fighters, but they are absolutely INCORRECT to insinuate that Campbell was taking steroids. Their anger should lie with the commision, who were so busy doing their usual nothingness that they couldn't be bothered with making sure rules were followed.

Either way I think it reflects badly on him IMO...
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
ONE......if juan diaz's camp thought that drug testing should be used in mexico, then he shouldnt have took the fight in the first place.
if he knew that this controversy would cause all this allegations and crap then he should have never signed that contract at all.
hes an idiot, because if campbell is not using drugs then diaz is screwd.
but to me i dont think its juan diaz who said this i think its his manager.
his manager probably made all this up saying the entire fight was rigged by don king.

In all honesty.. you really don't need to give me the steroid speech. Your baseball thing is irrelevant. They usually do test in boxing much more than other sports. So to answer your why not question.. because it's a one person sport and easier to test.. that's why. Any questions? He won.. someone's a sore loser and then tasteless gossip like this starts..
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
luvfightgame, where's your proof? You seem to be pro he did it.. so you tell me.. where is the proof? You have gotten yourself so locked into being why not about it.. where's the proof? That's the problem with things.. people talk way far ahead of themselves without knowing anything.. it's just talk... that's all it is.. no proof at all.
Re: Campbell Blasts Team Diaz Over Steroid Claim
I knew they were going to try to make some stupid claims. Thank God they don't have Bob Arum, Don King or someone behind them anymore to INVENT the 'proof.'
Let me just say this; Nate Campbell has ALWAYS been a better fighter than Juan Diaz. He stood toe to toe with Juan and beat him at his own game--even out punched him. He has been a top contender for more than a year, and no one wanted to give him a shot (not Julio, not Juan, not Casamayor and not Katsidis). In fact the Juan camp tried to push Campbell off on Katsidis, but HAD to fight Nate b/c he is #1 in the IBF (does anyone remember that he also STOPPED Kid Diamond before Huerta HUMBLED him?)
I have said this for years that the only one who could beat Nate Campbell was himself--he showed that in the Peden fights. I think he learned that valuable lesson and will use it to work harder in coming fights.
I say Campbell will clean up the division, because he will destroy Casamayor, beat Diaz again, and can outbox
SIDE NOTES--the same thing about 'learning from his loss' can be said for Margarito. He will be a true monster at WW from here forward. Just watch.
ROID RAGE--I still say that three 'steroids' calls of the past three years have been questionable
1--Omar Nino (WBC JuFly) stripped after he dismantled Brian Viloria. IMO, Viloria's people said/did whatever they could to get their man back into a title fight, and he lost the next one also.
2--Orlando Salido (IBF Fwt) being stripped after beating up Robert Guerrero. This was another questionable 'positive,' becasue the supposed 'steroid' is found naturally in the human body, and takes a special test just to find. Are you telling me they were conducting special tests for EVERYONE that day?
3--Juan Carlos Gomez (WBC Int'l Hwt) stripped of his belt for supposed cocaine use, which he emphatically denies. However, McCall (his opponent) was arrested and publicly apologized weeks later for being a cocaine addict...? Can you say 'switched the tests?'
Event when we think there is proof, there is politics. Be wary.
