Pac got a gift decision
He lost that fight in my opinion. He knew it too. You could see it in his eyes. No arrogance showed in the post fight interview. He was humbled. The fight was close but it was not one of those fights that one can say it could go either way.
I was hoping Pac would knock Marquez out too. but when he did not do it by the 7th, it was clear that Marquez kept accumulating the rounds to overcome the Knock down.
AND I am out some cash, since I bet Pac would win by KO

Re: Pac got a gift decision
Pac was connecting more solid shots. He was the aggresive and got 2 of the judges vote.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
If anyone can get the scorecards, I would appreciate it.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
I hear ya Pac you sound like I did back when my boy Chavez lost to Whitaker. I said the exact same thing.
it is not a shame to lose. He did not do enough to win. He got tired for some reason I think. He was not the same relentless Pac. Maybe he trained a bit too hard.
who knows... but it is clear he did not win that fight.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
by the way I was going for Pac too. He is one of my top three favorite fighters of the moment. I just know he lost that one that's all.

I don't think so somehow, Marquez landed more power punches and he rocked Pacquiao many times more times than Pacquiao was able to rock Marquez, Pacquiao was even doubled over by a body shot from Marquez. I had Marquez clearly winning the fight and if there was any doubt in the scoring then Marquez should of erased those doubts clearly winning last 2 rounds.

Pac rocked JMM many times too. And it's very unfortunate for Marquez fan like you that your boy kissed the canvas. Marquez landed a lot of low blows. He was not very accurate with his uppercuts.

Re: Pac got a gift decision
same here. Did you notice that Pac tired? I watched the last six rounds of the fight again and it seems like he did.
He was not his normal self. Marquez boxed beautifully.

Pac got tired coz he took some massive body shots. I gotta give that to Marquez.

uggh...for some reason, I liked the old forum quoting the best...but no matter back to fight talk.
if memory serves Marquez was more accurate in his final punch stats, Manny just did not do enough to win. He was good in spurts while JMM was more consistent. He won the fight.

The key in the fight was the exact key in the 1st fight for Marquez, creating angles, leading with right hands, and timing Pacquiao coming in then countering. I can't remember exactly what round it was but i remember he doubled Pacquiao over with a body shot and that seemed to zap Pacquiao's strength. I'll give Pacquiao's his dues though its hard to recover from a devastating body shot like that.

Re: Pac got a gift decision
everyone here in the old M_D's neighborhood felt that JMM got robbed.
BUT
they felt that it was a great fight so noone is pissed. we got our monies worth.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
Fukc that Manny easily won... I am not saying it wasn't a close fight, but the rounds that each guy won were so distinctively for that fighter that it would be impossible to score it otherwise, except the last two rounds.. I thought Pacquaio won the 11th but it could have gone for MArquez(however I need to say it again), THe 12th was definitely won by Marquez.
What I don't get is why Manny didn't continue doing his double jab left cross.. He was setting the distance with the jabs for the left hand, but then he stopped doing it.

Re: Pac got a gift decision
Pac was very fortunate to get the decision. A cracking fight but a decision gone astray.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
score the fight for me bro...taeth..how did you have it?
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision

i think they should fight again. i think that this fight didnt really produce a real winner coz of all the "gift decision" talk. next time somebody needs to get KTFO. by the way, why is camp marquez always sound like a sore loser. they sounded the same way when rafa lost to izzy a couple of weeks ago. pac gave marquez his props and still marquez is still arrogant.

I have to rewatch it, I don't remember exactly which rounds where except I had it exactly the same as Ledderman, for the first time ever in my life, except for the 11th and 12th round I had switched.

I think they should fight again. I think they should wait for another 4 years. :) Just kiddin'.
I heard Pac is pretty much set up for David Diaz on July 28 of this year.
I don't know much about Marquez. But I'm assuming his camp will be eyeing for a trilogy with Pac by the end of this year,... maybe by november?

Pac-Man won that fight! Marquez is lucky that Manny was not as aggressive as the first fight.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
Just because PAC lost the 12th round means he lost the fight, it was a close fight that could've gone either way but PAC was the one dishing out more damage and scored a KD.
It does make more sense for PAC to get a rubber match with JMM than move to lightweight though;)

exactly!!!
pac could of stopped jmm but going from 129-145 is making him lose his go for the kill mentality. its messing up his explosiveness although the power and speed is still dominant he just is not using them as often as before. maybe he thinks he'll win anyways if he tries less, cause he still did win.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
I had JMM by one point,I've only seen the fight once though. I find it ridicuous to see people saying Pac could have stopped JMM.Where is the evidence for that?If you drop a guy 3 times in 1 round and can't stop him, you' never stopping him, simple as.JMM boxed beautifully,Manny relied on his agression and speed. He's tidied up alot technically(Manny) and has improved but he has lost some fire along the way.Great fight though.

I remember thinking Lederman was way off on some rounds. Did you give the first to PAc??? Lederman did but I tought that was erasily a Marquez round. Lederman is fuking losing it imo.

Re: Pac got a gift decision
don't think it was a gift decision... the fight could have went to Marquez or Pac and i wouldn't have complained it was a close fight and Pac got the nod on.
gift would suggest it wasnt close ;)

I totally agree Saddo, it was a close fight that could've gone either way. Fortunately it was PAC landing the more CONCUSSIVE shots and the one who scored the KD.
Anyways according to the official scorecards PACMAN has it in the bag in the 10th:

Re: Pac got a gift decision
i think marquez won a close decision but it wasnt a gift
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
Awesome fight I think it might be the story I tell to my kids when i put them to bed.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
Who was the Promoter I missed that information, I had Pac losing by a couple. You see a different fight Ringside than on TV.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
To say Pac lost is a joke. To say the fight was a draw is more realistic. The best Marquez could have faired, was a draw but certainly not a win.
He did not knock Pac down once and he had a gash over his eye that looked like something out of a autopsy report.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
fwiw I thought it was a draw.
There was no clear winner imo.
Great fight though.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
Truely great fight.
Marquez won for me.. just. It's silly to call a fight that close robbery but it wouldn't be right in saddoland if we didn't have the robbery threads after every single fight
They both deserve a serious break after that.. probably will leave it's mark.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
Sad one ;D Dont they promote Pac, Theres a clue there somewhere that a close one He isnt going to lose, thats biusness ;D.

Yeah... that kind of close fight should not be labeled robbery coz it was really difficult to judge that fight.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
No way was it a gift. Pac won a very close fight. It's the same as before, in 2 fights you can claim that Marquez hurt pac more, but unfortunately Marquez tasted the canvas 4 times. Not one for Pac.
Marquez is a tough and extremely skilled fighter. He definitely dominated some rounds and Pac had no answer during those rounds, but ultimately after he would do that, Pac gets a knock down or turns the fight into a brawl and gets the better of the exchange. JMM has nothing to be ashamed of, but don't cry robbery because it simply wasn't. If I was Pac I don't know if I would fight him again. He barely eeked out a decision and it was a very tough fight. What's the point of giving him another shot a figuring you out. I do think Marquez would win a rematch, but this one wasn't a gift.
-
Re: Pac got a gift decision
I thought Marquez won, i have no problem with the decision but i do with Pacquaio dismissing any rematch. Personally i thought the rounds won by either fighter were clear. There is still unfinished business here and maybe when the dust settles promoters will get the ball rolling again. I enjoyed this fight immensely!!
