David Diaz? Why are people suddenly rating him?!?
I'm sorry but on this forum, not one person had him beating Morales on the RBR. A couple said a draw but the majority said he lost.
He also was badly getting the crap kicked out of him by Santa Cruz before he nailed the lucky punch.
The guy won an MD last night against a "gimme".
Diaz leaves himself open for punches and is a fairly average fighter. This is a giftwrap lightweight title for Pac and nothing more. It won't even be close and I can't believe people would see this any differently.

I agree with u. From watching the fight and reading all the reports, it seems Pac and his management do not want to fight JMM again. I feel sorry for JMM cos he could and possibly should have beaten Pac twice.
Beating Diaz proves nothing, he nearly got beat by a clearly shot Morales who Pac defeated easily.
Hopefully the scenario is Pac beats Diaz, then gives JMM a shot at the 135 title.

Diaz has got heart and won't give up, he showed that against Morales and Santa Cruz.
Yes he's limited in the same way as oleg maskaev is limited but he still gave Sam Peter plenty to think about in their fight and rattled him.
It's by NO MEANS a gimme fight for Manny and IS a stern test for a first move up to an unknown weight class.
Not sure why people hate on him so much or this fight, but if Manny is serious about a new career at 135 he needs a decent test but not to go straight to the best man in the division.
Diaz is the perfect choice imo. Has name recognition after a win over Morales, plus he's a legitimate belt holder.
It's Manny's first fight at 135, seriously what do you guys want?

Diaz didn't even beat the champion either. I can think of plenty of better fights at 135 for Pac. Still anything to get the belt off this tomato can. I can't stand it when people are clearly beaten yet get a gift decision. I think the Morales one pissed me off more than any other because I like everyone else didn't give Erik a prayer, and he proved everyone wrong and was denied an historic 4th weightclass world championship.

Bilbo, I'm not bagging on Pac, but the fight isn't worth getting excited about. I know why Pac is taking the fight, but just don't see why people suddenly think Diaz is so good.
Re: David Diaz? Why are people suddenly rating him?!?
He is limited but all to willing to sit down on the inside with whoever he fights. It speaks volumes that he was on the undercard on a PPV as a reigning "champion".....In the very first bout,A spot usually reserved for 4 or 6 rounders lately featuring up & comers. He just seems happy to be here.......not one word of complaining from him though? He'll give an honest effort but he'll get torn up at the top level.
They know he soaks up punishment ,even his opponent last night (with 1 KO) was catching him plenty.Diaz is durable, willing and has a strap.I think Pac will beat him but I also think Pac has slipped a notch.Never take anyone for granted I say.

It's not that I think Diaz is so good, but he's an honest brawler who will put on an exciting fight.
Do you think a fight between the two would be boring? I can ASSURE you it wouldn't be! Diaz only knows how to come forward, as obviously does Pac, it would be a brutal all action fight.
Pac would be heavily favoured but Diaz is the naturally much bigger man and we saw just a couple weeks ago with juan Diaz that if a bigger guy can stand up to a brawlers attacks then they can make it into a nightmare.
Pacquaio has come up from much lower weights so at some point there will be a point where his power doesn't carry. I personally don't believe he's been as devastating at superfeather as he was at the lower weights, and at the same time he has shown vulnurabilities, especially at the weekend.
I can practically guarantee that if this fight did happen, once it was underway loads of people on here would be posting 'wow that was a great fight! I really didn't expect that!.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing this fight, it begins an exciting new chapter for Pacquaio at a new weight class and will be an all action brawl whilst it lasts.
If he was choosing to fight Zahir Raheem I'd agree it could be a really dull fight but Diaz at the very least guarantees action.
This reminds me in some ways of the Cotto Gomez fight. yes Cotto should win and win convincingly but Gomez has bags of heart, a good chin and a great human interest story. I'm excited for that fight and I'd be excited for Pacquiao and David Diaz too.

I think it'll finish quick. I know Pac's power won't carry all the way, but he'll look like a friggin monster against Diaz. Pac will KO him, I don't see any other outcome.
Anyways I thought you were a rep whore? Disagreeing with me doesn't get you that juicy bit of rep you're after. ;D

I agree, then Maybe afterwards we will see PAC-JMM 3. Hopefully if PAC wins over Diaz he won't be worn out by the time he faces Marquez.
Re: David Diaz? Why are people suddenly rating him?!?
I've never seen anyone here rate him highly.
Shit! I dislike the guy he's very limited and IMO would loose to anyone of the elite guys.
Matter a fact if you check his record you'll see he fought a guy by the name of Silverio Ortiz whom he fucken lost. Ortiz gave him a fucken beat down from pillar to post but the judges robbed Ortiz in one of my top 3 robbery's of all time.

God damn Mick I just noticed your reputation is immense
According to the reputation board (which i check hourly) I've finally edged past Gamo to become the second most beloved man on Saddo's (Quit rolling your eyes behind those shades, I can see ya!)
Anyway I was thinking I'd be ousting you from your number 1 slot soon and I see to my disgust you have almost 5000 rep points
You suck, you dress better than me, you have more rep than me and you doubtless earn more money than me.
I'm thinking you were put here just to antangonise me.
Give some rep love else i'm going to have a hissy fit.:-\

Well Bilbs I'm easy on the heart and when I hear things like this I bulge and can't help it but feel bad.
As proof I have about 15 candle sets that I've bough in the past months at gas stations from Teenage Kids to help them attend a trip.
Anyway... I was gonna send you some Rep. and then I got this message:
vBulletin MessageYou must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Bilbo again.

Manny wants Diaz's belt too. But another $6M fight with Marquez gotta be tempting for him.

Here's the highlight from JMM that night. A very good 1-2 combo from JMM that momentarily staggered Pac.

Feel better now Eagle? ;)
Re: David Diaz? Why are people suddenly rating him?!?
I picked Diaz to beat Morales. I was wrong. Morales won.
Diaz is crap. Crap as in crap for a world-class "world" champion standard fighter.
Amir Khan would beat him tomorrow.

I agree with you here.
Amir would play around with David badly. David only fights 1 way and is very limited.
Re: David Diaz? Why are people suddenly rating him?!?
David Diaz is the very definition of a paper champ. He brings nothing to the table skills-wise, he's just a hardworker.
Diaz's big claim to fame is that he defeated the rotting corpse of Erik Morales, and I actually scored that fight as a narrow win for Erik.

Re: David Diaz? Why are people suddenly rating him?!?
Diaz isn't as bad as people think. Knocking out Santa Cruz, even in a come from behind victory is a good win as was his controversial win over Morales.
Even those who scored it for Morales have to admit the fight was close and Morales looked much better than he did at super feather against Pacquaio.
As a step up in wieght first fight Diaz is ideal for Manny. He's the perfect opponent, beatable but with an exciting crowd pleasing style.
The fight itself will be entertaining whilst it lasts.
Diaz reminds me a bit of Britains own Carl Johanneson, a game battler, likely to be outclassed and beaten by the best but still an honest hard worker and a game opponent who won't come just for the paycheck.
If this fight happens I'll look forward to it, and wouldn't be at all suprised if Diaz made it a very rough night for Pacquaio.
