*Billy Collins Jr vs. Luis Resto* Full Fight!!!

Alright, this has been a LOOOOOOONG talked about fight. Theirs been a couple of threads here in regards to the fight.

This fight between Billy Collins Jr and Luis Resto is IMO one the worst acts of cowardness ever to happen in a ring. I know a lot of you have asked where you can see the fight and asked for footage. I myself couldn't do it as to be honest I've never seen the fight and I own it as part of my collection. Well someone has uploaded it to YouTube and I came across the fight just now.

WARNING!!! Let it be known that what you will witness is BRUTAL and can really have some type of effect WARNING!!!!

As I've said in the past I don't watch these kind of fights I also have Pintor vs. Owen, Paret vs. Griffith III among others...... I refuse to watch them. :-\

I just read up on the fight and i guess its the one where lewis tampered with the gloves...how the hell did lewis only get one year in jail??? Shit like this needs to be punished much more harshly...and I really have no desire seeing this fight I never wish to see anyone hurt in the ring permanently, and to know a trainer and a fighter conspired to do this here is just sickening.

Resto was aware of the tampering with the glove that's why he also served time in jail.

I watched this as a little kid my Grandad taped this fight it was truly sickening to watch. I just watched it recently again and i couldn't watch it all it truly was disgusting. The rumor has it Collins Jr committed suicide because he was going to go blind he was only 22 what a shame. What is amazing to me though is how Collins Jr took them punches flush he must of been one of the hardest boxers i've ever seen, he had a lot of talent and could of gone quite far IMO. If i remember right Collins Jr said in between rounds to his corner that something wern't right he felt like he was getting hit with a brick, truly disgraceful act by Lewis and Resto.

This is exactly why I can't watch it... It is litterally bringing tears to my eyes typing about it.

Here you have Resto who served a scentence that someone who steals money out of a cash register at the gas station they work at gets. He's "suffering" so much... Must be nice to be able to suffer cuz someone else is dead due to his actions.

Now you have Lewis... "Banned" for life. this is the most amazing thing to me. He can still train fighters... He can still go to fights. I don't care if it's the US or not. He's still been to fights in the US. I could smell this piece of shit 4 miles away... and he's still been to fights in NY. WHAT?!?!

Absolutely disgusting. I knew I shouldn't have watched this. I could only watch little snippets just to get a sense of how much damage was being dealt out. Resto and Lewis are spineless fukin animals. If I saw either in the street I would grab the nearest blunt object and break their legs. You know, just so I wouldn't possibly kill someone, as obviously neither of them give a damn about. what fuking ANIMALS. That was just so disgusting to watch Collins keep fighting, every time he got hit with that shocked look on his face. I can't believe he didn't just pack it in, he probably would have known something was wrong with the gloves but just had too much pride on the line. If I were in any way behind the decision to bann Resto from fighting again, I think I wouldn't, let him keep fighting, the best opponents possible. Line up a promoter who'd put him in with anyone and promise him a good payday then screw him out of every cent. Make him fight with 20 ounce gloves from then on. Pit him against real hard punches, let him die in the ring and see if anyone gives a shit. I'd piss on his grave if possible, this really saddened me, had never seen any footage of the fight. If I were Collins dad and thought it even slightly probably that they gloves were tampered with I would have taken the ring stool to Panama Lewis right there. If i was Billy Collins Jr father and i heard my son telling me he feels like he is getting hit by a brick from a feather fisted fighter. I don't care if he would of got him DQ. Yea good point man, I had thought about that before I posted. Clearly it's alot easier to realize something was wrong with hindsight. I suppose that there was nothing done at the time because it was so unprecedented. I still can't imagine that noone thought anything was up though... Just the sound of Resto's punches was sickening. Surely if Collins, or anyone in his camp had seen footage of Resto fight they could have imagined there was something up... Although I do suppose footage of a complete journeyman was harder to come by those days.

Well p4pking who would have ever thought about something like this going on especially on a televised fight and all.
Comissions sucked back then let's not forget they "FORGOT" to collect Aaron Pryors posr fight urine sample.... :rolleyes: for the 1st Arguello fight.

Sometimes today they still show signs that they need a lot of improvements. For starters anytime a boxer get's KO'ed look at the mayhem that's caused in the the ring. Its like theirs no order and or security. For fucks sake a fighters on the floor passed out the least you can do is maintain order so that the fighter can get the help he needs.
The one incident that quickly springs to mind is Green koing Jaidon. Look at the crazyness that happens Jaidons fucken hand gets caught underneath him and you have people jumping allover into the ring. I notice a lot of things that happen on fight nights that comissions should be more aware and not allow those things to happen.

Ya I've never watched Collins-Resto. Just can't do it.

I was the same way for a long time about Holmes-Ali. I refused to watch. I finally cracked and watch it a few months ago.

I've never watched the whole Benn-McClellan fight either.

I watch Benn McClellan regularly.

It stops me having that invincible feeling and often makes me question "woulkd i know something was wrong."

I made myself watch bits of that and man it was horrible. Ive read and heard loads about this fight but never seen it until now. Big respect to Billy Collins for lasting till the bell cus he took a beating. R.I.P.

That was a truely sad day for Billy Collins. I have the fight and have watched it once or twice but what i never really undestood is why that prick(Lewis) thought he needed to resort to those tactics. Because early on in the fight it looked like resto could have beaten Collins in a fair fight. I know Collins was undefeated till that point, but still looked plenty green IMO, and Resto looked to seasoned for him. Just a thought.
