JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
Hey buds Im a HUGE JMM fan and I have to be convinced that JMM has the best legs/recovery from a knock down in the game among other things.
he's a badass master boxer tactician expert, a master counter puncher and i am convinced he's the best fighter to recover from a knockdown!
have you guys noticed when ever he's knocked down he not only gets up in a heart beat but he also regains his composure and more importantly his legs like instantly?
can you name another fighter that can recover from a knockdown to win the remaining of a round like JMM does? I can not.
i mean lets face it a lesser figher would of been sleeping had they been knocked down in that 3rd round like JMM did, but only JMM could get up and give one hell of a fight like it was nothing for the rest of the fight!
JMM needs his props and due!

I don't know his chin is pretty solid but I wouldn't say best recovery in the sport. I mean if he recovered that quick he wouldn't have got knocked down 3 times in a round by Manny Paquaio he would have fully recovered straight away after the first.
I think Casamayor showed a great recovery at the weekend. I mean to get literally punched out of the ring and to get up and climb back in and be ready to fight again in 10 seconds is pretty impressive, and Kats really jumped on him, that was a pretty impressive recovery.
Actually thinking about Allan Green showed better recover powers against Donny Mcrary. Watch the knockdown he was asleep as his head was hitting the canvas but he got up to win the remaining couple rounds and knock Donny out.
Yet people use that as an example of a weak chin
I guess it really depends what way you look at it.

true buddy, but a weaker lesser fighter would of either stayed down or wobbled his way up to a tko waived off by a ref! thats what im trying to say i guess. JMM gives us true fight fans our moneys worth.
when he fights u can really see his expertise, ring generalship to the extreme!

Oh no doubt the guy has tremendous heart. He makes his brother look almost chinny by comparison.

Bilbo Marquez was caught cold against Pacquiao in that 1st round, when i first started out in boxing i had people rush me straight away and when you get hit when your not expecting it straight away its hard to recover because you don't whats going on. And your in shock if you noticed that the same shots that floored Marquez in the 1st round didn't even come close to knocking him down in the rest of the fight ?? thats because he was warmed up simple as that.

Re: JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
Hey David , what do you think about Cotto vs Ricardo Torres , a fight where Cotto were in a bad situation and where he didn't lose his focus , concentration and with fallowing instructions of his corner he finished his opponent.......for me that is an a skill that no much boxer has.....

Re: JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
Izzy also recovers quickly from knockdowns. ;)

Re: JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
marquez is tremendous at hiding how hurt he is. He should be the one called poker face assassin. JMM just gets back up and scratches his way away from pac.
I think he has a great chin, the only guy that has really put him down is pac. who is p4p one of the hardest and fastest hitter in the game.
I underestimated JMMs chin before, now i know he may get drop but even if your pac. YOUR NOT GOING TO KEEP HIM DOWN.
Style wise JMM matches best against pac, great technician, great foot work and great recovery abbility. All three makes it hard for pac to be able to finish him off.
-
Re: JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
how about that 8th round WOW. i havent seen pac in that much trouble ever.
yes it was mostly do to that nasty cut, but still JMM kept aiming for the cut over and over again and laid down some nasty body shots to Pac if pac wasnt so conditioned he would of gone down and taken a knee.

u mean israel vasquez? yeah hes the man he beat my boy Raf Marquez fair and square twice!
or do you mean Izzy from Guns N Roses? LOL

Re: JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
the more i rewatch the fight i say JMM landed some sick body shots on Pac and that really made the difference. it was as if he slowed Pac down by all the body shots IMO

Re: JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
I agree completely with that. Marquez really showed a lot of discipline with his body work. Kept digging to the ribs consistently.
Marquez does have a mighty fine pair of legs and his recovery skills are great. James Toney doesnt have as fine a pair of legs as Marquez but he has the most incredible chin that I can think of in modern boxing. Tough as granite.

interesting u mention james toney im also a big fan of his as well. i believe his only knockdowns were more so due to him being unbalanced.
what do u make of him as of right now tho? is he done? or could he still make noise in the HW division?

Actually, I was thinking about Toney just this afternoon. I know a few weeks back he was talking about stirring up the division again but since then Ive heard nothing. Of course, I love Toney...apart from Calzaghe and Barrera he is probably my favourite fighter of recent times. I find it hard to imagine him doing that much now. Its almost like he got old against Peter the second time out and apparently he didnt look good against Batchelder.
Its a shame really. Toney should have got the nod against Peter the first time out, picked up a belt and then retired but it hasnt gone like that and that has probably affected Toney.
I wish him all the best if he comes back, but it will be so hard now he is close to 40 and hasnt been in good shape for a very long time.

Yeah, Its not possible to judge what he has left without seeing him fight. I would like to see him fight again and if looks bad then just give it up. But if he can look okay, well who knows really...

Re: JMM the best LEGS in the SPORT!
Marquez's legs are made for fighting and not for running.

;D That was a terrible knockdown on Toney's part. Completely off balance and it was that more than anything else that put him down. The second Peter fight is hard for me to watch actually. Toney got hit more than usual in that one. Ouch!! :-\
