can someone tell me how many minutes do i have to run to cover 1 mile. and exact answer please.
why not just run a mile?
a non exerciser runs a mile at about 11 minute pace. A regular distance runner 7/8, world class under 4.
Running in place is not a real substitute for running - you'd be better off skipping.
If you jump from one foot to the other 1760 times and there is a distance of a yard between your feet you will have travelled a mile.
And Missy 11 mins is a not bad time for a non exerciser. Most people i know who don't exercise couldn't even run 1/4 mile let alone a full one...
Ah ,I understand now...........it's just that i've been running for a while now and i run round the local park which takes me about 10 1/2 mins a lap for 3 laps so you saying an 11 min mile was ok for someone unfit got me worried................then I sussed that the park is a 1 1/2 mile circuit, not a mile :-[ :dummespost:
hmm perhaps, but you should be able to power walk that pace or jog/walk it not flat out run.Quote:

I think the army use eleven minutes as a guide for a mile for new recruits, a mate needed to do it years ago so I ran with him, Im sure it was 11 mins.
As i said i fucked up by basing my post on the fact i run a mile in 10 1/2 mins when ,in fact, its a mile and a half i do in that time.....You got me worried all my training was for nowt cos i was still at the level of a 'non exerciser'Â Â ;D
I'm sure the army is tougher then the airforce. In our basic we had to do 2 miles in 18 minutes.. which is a cake walk. And that's only 9 minute miles. When I tryed out for the PJ's.. special forces.. we had to do 5 miles in 32 minutes... that my friends.. is what hell is all about for a non distance runner like me. Almost killed me. You average guy.. not in great shape, but runs occasionally, should be able to run about a 10 minute mile.
hqaha a mile in 11 minutes. i can do a mile 5:30!
you cant realy tell a time as you could be running at differant speeds
Guys, I'm really out of shape and I can do a mile in 9:57 and thats after I have to stop jogging and walk. An 11 min mile is a sleeper, I think people in military have to run a Sub 7 minute mile?
Good Morning from Michigan,
Yeah those military roughnecks also have to run a sub 7 min mile with weights ;D sounds like fun aye? If you wanna get into shape, then you're gonna have to give yourself room for improvement by managing your time, and recording your progress. Right now if I were you, I'd keep a log of workouts, the times, intensity, details etc. Since you weezing wreck, I would,'t advise you to jump the gun yet, you gotta work up to it. Jog a lap, walk a lap, jog a lap and soforth. Hey even Bruce Lee and me were outta shape at one point, and you gotta start somewhere. When you get better you can jog the whole stretch, increasing the pace, and distance when you are ready.

running with weights is a biotch
ive jogged 5 miles with 15kg on my back before, and that wasnt a fun experience
so is it a good idea to try running 1 mile first before running in place heh. ok
That sick bastard Rocky Marciano used to run 10-15 miles every single morning, up and down a fucking hill at 3am! He'd go to bed at 9.30pm, up at 3am to run, then back to bed again for a couple of hours.
Tyson used to run 3 miles with 50lbs on his back when he was a teenager (Cus didn't want him to grow any taller!).
Rocky also ran in with weighted shoes while running 12 miles everyday for 2 months, around those hills at Grossing Airport. That and long swims drove his endurance to breath-take'n heights. One day I'll be that damn fit, just watch!
as the previoua post said - if you want to run in place - you might as well be skipping so you can work on your footwork, timing and rhythym as long as receiving the benefits of your aerobic workout.
If you think about it - when you throw a powerful right - you push off of your legs... When you are running - you must push off of your legs to propel yourself forward to be able to receive the speed to go from walking to jogging. This really increases your endurance as your muscles have to do even more work.
If you jog in place, ur pretty much just jumping up and down and you look like that one chick from that movie and they always make fun of her with that one song... I don't know the name but someone here for damn sure does... However - if ur gonna skip - this DOES NOT take the place of your roadwork.
My advice: you seem a little worried about running, so start running around the block twice a day, and skip about 5 2 minute rounds. While doing your aerobic exercisce, you will get tired quicker if you allow your breathing to become too frantic. The way to combat this - is breath out of your nose as long as you can - and even if you want to breathe really hard, try to keep control of it and pace it so you are always taking long steady breathes - INHALLLLLLE, EXHALLLLLE - you get? This will get you to making it that mile alot quicker. Save those big breaths for when you really need them. After 2 weeks up to 3 times around the block and then after a month 4 times around the block and that should be your mile.
And the real trick? Stop putting it off and just do it. No waiting 2 days to start - you either start tonight or u start tomorrow morning and dedicate yourself to do it and you WILL reach your goal. We all had problems starting... So you can do it... And if you don't?? I'm gonna get cute and fuzzy little pink easter bunnys to chase you with huge bloody meat cleavers threatening to use your testicles as easter eggs.
Have a nice day ;D
